    I just put mt200’s on an OTR for my son. I ditched the routing kit and fed new cables from the front to back instead of starting through the chain stay and working forward. It took 5minutes. Super easy. The bike is a great ride and even better with the upgrades.
    Thanks for the vids.

    Broooo i love this bike! My setup atm is tektro m285's on the front (no rear brake idk how to internally route lol-)
    Got continental 2.4 front tire.( Need to replace the maxxis hookworm in the back)
    I got a shimano with the ixf crankset. Found a shimano hollow bottom bracket. With a 38t chainring. Its so fast!!! I cant wait to see what upgrades yall do. Its always a blast watching yall upgrade the bikes. Now it feels like im upgrading it alongside yall

    🤣love the episode fellas, this one was full of hidden gems starting with the opener. Looking forward to the real time review on the Titans. Wolfman's suggestion of taping the brake line to the existing cable before pulling out was a big foreshadowing of things to come. Very scientific as always. You get some funnel cake or elephant ears at the fair? 🦥

  • @TheKez1a
    @TheKez1a Před 5 měsíci

    These seem to have bite point adjust as well - its the grub screw on the front side of the lever, also reach adjust has nothing to do with air or the fluid in the brakes... its an external change that adjusts the lever position in relation to the master cylinder plunger.

    7:10 another thing, swapping from metallic and resin pads, people say to clean the rotors and then bed them in, but I've gone from resin to metallic without cleaning the rotor and it was fine, maybe it works differently spending on the pads. But you definitely need to bed in the brakes.

    Great video, nice install. I have to say, that yes rotors do matter, take it from me, if you put non-resin brake pads on a rotor that says resin only, then your braking power, and efficiency go out the window, brakes will feel very spongy, and no amount of bleeding will fix it. Some rotors say resin only for a very good reason.

    • @andi1831
      @andi1831 Před 9 měsíci

      Nope, the main diffrence between organic,resin, sinter or metallic are: durabilty,noise and the feellings at braking. The Power is always the same! So sinter will last longer than organic, but organic are quiet but not so durable. But most organic you've got a better feel for the brake. Like he said it's not a big deal and he's right with that.🤷‍♂️

    I see one huge issue in terms of long-term usage/service - good luck on finding a socket wrench for these bore caps or figuring out what to use to undo them without stripping or damaging the grooves.
    I struggled to find a cheap socket key for iiipro e4 bore caps. They are 13.5 mm in diameter so you can't use a standard shimano crankset preload cap key Which is 15 mm. You need to buy a magura mt4 specific key which like 10$ on ali and it's a rough casted little piece of metal.

  • @ninjazzrhythm400
    @ninjazzrhythm400 Před 7 měsíci

    Its good to have a caliper that's in one piece. It has less chance of flexing. Magura manufactures theirs also in one piece. If the caliper have more meat, you'll get more stable braking power. I think that brake is made and aliexpress have them on different brand names like, iii pro, ankor, titans.

    Tape a string on cable ..pull cable all the way out with string attached leaving some string not pulled through , tape new cable on string ...pull through...only need kit for new frames that don't have cables...but even then they have strings in them to tape n pull.

      😂😂 If you wanna get scientific!! 😆😆🤦

  • @northwestmountainbikeaddic6874

    The brake rotor does actually matter some rotors are o Ku made to be used with organic pads and other rotors are made to be use with metallic pads or organic, I run Hayes dominion and I used to have tektro rotors made for organic pads and the Hayes brakes did not get along with the rotors it pretty much burned them as in heat discolored then and started to warp them , so it’s a fact different rotors for different style pads , but you can use Whatever rotor and pad combo you want , but it won’t always work great

  • @mtbboy1993

    8:53 Yet Paul Components that markets a brake like that, Paul Clamper, they claim it's actually that's better, but they say their brake is so much stiffer it out performs dual piston brakes. But it would be interesting to see what you think of them.

      I put mt200’s on my son’s Ridge a couple days ago. After bedding them in, I was thoroughly impressed with how well these affordable brakes worked. Take the time to bed them in, get the levers mounted properly and adjust the reach for your hand and you will be happy. I wouldn’t hesitate to put mt200’s on again.

    Was going to take my Ozark Trail Ridge 29 for it's first trail ride today, so put it in the stand to get it tuned and adjusted. I messed with that thing for 2 hours, watched bookoos of videos, pulled out repair manuals, invented new swear words, and determined that im either stupid (still undetermined 😂) or that the rear derailleur is faulty. Took it to a trusted shop this morning, and the derailleur is actually failty out of the box (not damaged, just doesn't work) 🤦 Do you guys have contact info for LTWOO? I went ahead and had them install a Microshift Advent X drivetrain that I had new on hand (that I was going to put on my Trouvaille), but I'd like to get a functioning replacement to keep as a backup drivetrain (I mean, I paid for a functioning derailleur when I bought tge bike anyway, lol). Thanks in advance, and happy Friday guys!! 😁🙏

    Is that the same Ozark Trail that was making coolers and other camping equipment being sold at Walmart? 😂

    7:10 If they meant the Resin only rotors then yes, those rotors are absurd, they use soft steel, they are impossible to use with metallic pads and not wear out the rotor, it keeps getting glazed.
    But their resin pads last about a month if you ride a lot. But as their metallic pads crack, I am not a fan of those, but they do bite well, the resin pads don't, even on a good rotor.
    I am not sure which rotors you used. but if metallic pads did not glaze them i na month rotors are not at fault.
