I hope i can make a sale for a Ozark trail later on the day. What i actually like is the ability to upgrade in a budget. Maybe later i can get a more expesived bike as i get a bit more of mtb experience. Nice review
I bought the ozark trail 29. I've done all the upgrades except for the cassettes, detailer amd shifter. I love the bike and I'm running Maxxis tires on it.
Watch Berm Peak he did all the upgrades for our bike
I didn't have any problem with the stock shifter combo. Once adjusted properly, it shifted crisply. I have the chainstay wrapped with an old innertube, so chain slap doesn't bother me.
Even if the head tube was not tapered, you can actually get a headset adapter which allows a tapered fork to a non tapered frame. There are many videos on CZcams showing the conversion installation.
I did not know about those at the time I bought the Ridge. A little late now, but good to know for the future.
I bought the Alpaka 29 last week. Ill be commuting on it as well as MTBing so I liked the 175 crank arms. The non tapered head tube will probably be an issue though because the stock forks leave much to be desired.
Thanks for the tip on the drywall screws. I was about to go spend too much money on new pedals....im gonna try that first.
@@strawbunyan7671 helps to have a countersink for the head of the screw.
That Alpaka 29 is a good-looking bike that comes in some cool colors
Dam wife and the budget 😂
Since I am horrible with money, I need to listen to my "personal accountant" so we don't starve. 😄
Those forks are done. Oil seals gone thats why the stansions are caked in crap. And just so you know headtubes with integrated bearings (like yours) can take a tapered steerer fork by adding a headset cup at the bottom. ✌🏽
Coil mountain bike forks use grease. There should be enough in there to last until I can get something better. I am also looking at rigid forks, as well.
@@johntimbes6510 yeah but the seals are supposed to keep it inside the fork. Do yourself a favour and get some second hand rockshocks/fox/marzocchi forks. They'll make a worlds difference to your ride and last forever when looked after. Remember, more miles more smiles 😉
