My theory is that crows are going to go try to kidnap alina, but bc Inej like isnt happy with the job being grabbing a girl and essentially allowing her to be sold and used which obvs Inej wouldnt be happy with and they’ll change their mind and help alina and mal escape at the end of the first book. If that makes any sense. But yeah this looks amazing and I’m so excited

i agree, in one of the stills kaz, inej, and jesper, are in the back of a carraige and they're looking at someone, who could be alina, so I think they're gonna try and help her escape the Darkling.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out is that Kaz doesn't believe in the Saints or just isn't that religious so I'm wondering how they're going to fit that into the story since Alina is considered a Saint.
I was thinking the same thing.
She’s not considered a saint yet I think, the religious movement builds up a lot more in the later books I think. Less of a factor in the first novel.
The “bring me Alina Starkov” line had me hollering. I actually fricking love that.
I'm like 99% sure the crows are gonna end up helping Alina and saving her from the Darkling in the fold, in the final episode, that's why we saw the crows on the fold, fighting grisha and volcra

There are also theories that Nikolai has something to do with hiring them to rescue Alina but we don’t find out until later. Also...they won’t replace the Ice Court heist. The showrunner and Leigh love it way too much. I can’t wait!!!

My hope is that, granted we get enough seasons, we'll still get to see the Ice Court job later on down the road. I read somewhere that the showrunner, Eric Heisserer, read the duology before anything else and loved it, so I would imagine he wouldn't completely erase the events of the Crows' story just to accomodate the mashup...

I think kaz, inej a jesper will have a completely different storyline and maybe we’ll see some of the flashback we read in SoC ... they can’t replace the Ice Court heist. They will hunt Alina and maybe help her run away in the end and in the meantime we’ll see how Nina and Matthias met. I also think that maybe if the show is picked up for more seasons we won’t see the Crows again until the SoC storyline

Leigh said in an interview that all the stuff in this season is prequel to SoC. So the Ice Court stuff would be coming later if they get more seasons.
Now I'm curious if Inej's Sankta Alina knife will named after Alina because she actually met her. 🥺

Yes! I’ve been waiting for your reaction, none of my friends ever read shadow & bone so I’m the only one whose super hype. I need some one else to freak out over this with me lol. Everything looks exactly how I imagined it while reading the books and I love how they’re incorporating the crows!

I just reread crows and what I feel we gonna see is stuff before books. Six of crows is taking place 2 years after Grisha. Inej knows Kaz for like 3 years. I hope we gonna see all those stuff they mentioned in books. And Nina and Mathias story. I'm excited but also nervous bc I love Six of Crows much more than Grisha Trilogy

The book did say alina had people after her but didn't really shown ao I'm excited that those assassins/kidnappers could be the crows! As you said, for the first season it's a cool concept but I don't know how they'll do for the next seasons but I'm excited
Yeah, I feel kinda iffy about the crows stuff too. I didn't expect them to go this route at all. I thought there would be multiple plotlines, similarly to witcher I guess. But yeah, people who haven't read the books probably wouldn't care for crows as much...IDK, I'm still really excited but I'm also crossing my fingers that they don't do crows dirty.
Someone else pointed out that the show runner actually read SOC first so that gives me hope that they’ll do it justice

When I first watched the trailer yesterday, I thought the Crows are being hired to kidnap and assassinate Alina Starkov because her power is dangerous. If this is the road they're going to take, I'm down. It would be really interesting to see. I also really liked this trailer so much more than the teaser because we got so much more and we also got some lines from the Crows which I loved. Kaz telling Inej "She's real," and the look she gives him. 🤩 And then Kaz asking Jesper how many bullets he has and Jesper saying "Not enough" was just perfect. It's exactly how I imagined it. I can't believe it's coming out in one month. I'm beyond excited. I'm definitely going to binge it many times 😁

I remember hearing in an old intervew that leigh first thought of Kaz as a character for the Grisha trilogy, and he was this shady character called Dirty Hands that you would do any deal with. Mby they're combining that idea with the Kaz we ended up with...? idk, but i can't wait

Also, I'm a screenwriter and I think there's a way to tie this "prequel" story to the Six of Crows stuff. It's an interesting plotting exercise to do, in fact. Another thing: I could be wrong, but based on what a friend of mine (who has done work for Netflix) has said, I get the impression they don't like long series. It seems like 5 seasons is their usual running time for successful shows. The producers could be plotting the show with that in mind.

I pronounce Grisha the same and can’t change it so I feel you lol. Im super intrigued with what they’re doing with the crows, I’m curious as to how they will play a role if they adapt the second and third book too.
The showrunner ( I think I read this in one of his interviews) approached Netflix with a 3 season plan combining soc and s&b, but when netflix (at the time) said that they don't have the rights to soc, he walked away.That makes Me feel very confident about future seasons. Still nervous but I think they will pull it off well!

I'm VERY excited and intrigued to see how they mesh the two series together. I'm okay with them changing things up to give us a fresh new grisha series. I feel like, at least for me, there's less pressure to make this EXACTLY like the books since it's clear some stuff will be different.... If that makes sense. And I'm hoping this makes Mal's character actually likable.
Also I NEEED a scene with the Darkling and Kaz being snarky together. I need this now. Ben Barnes as the Darkling is so good it's killing me and from what I've seen, it seems he ships Darklina..... *chefs kiss*
Leigh said in an interview that season 1 is going to be previous to SoC. I mean probably after season 3? The real adaptation of SoC is starting.
I hope they don't change too much the first trilogy story.

Hey it's your local aspiring TV screenwriter! ☺️ It's hard to know for sure without seeing the first season how they're going to approach the adaptation process for future seasons, but I would like anyone who sees this comment to brace themselves and be open to some major changes regarding SoC stuff. I mean, we know Leigh's already warned all of us of big changes, but from some of the discourse I'm seeing on Twitter/Insta, people still seem to be expecting them to be very true to the books. Now, they might still do that, but I wouldn't count on it because TV story structure is very different from story structure in books.
I do still think we can get to the heist stuff around season 4/5. However, by the time we get there, the crows probably won't be the same crows we meet in the books, because as an audience we'll know them really well by then. I like what they seem to be doing here so far because at least to me, even though there's crossover between series in the books, the Grisha trilogy and SoC feel very self contained and I don't think that would work very well in a TV show. I really love how it looks so far and I'm excited that I don't know where this is going.
I’m also open to it not being a pure adaptation. It’s definitely going to be different and I’m prepared. There’s a few scenes I want to stay the same but otherwise I can deal with changes.

Okay so I had the same sort of questions you did about how they were going to tie the Crows into this and the only thing I can think is that they move everything up. And by that I mean I think we might have the Jurda Parem storyline happening at the same time as the original triology is going on. So we have Alina and her crew dealing with the fold and the Crows doing the Ice Court heist as everything is kind of falling apart and amping up. So first season will be primarily Kaz, Inej, Jesper, with glimpse of Nina and Mattias. Second season a bit more focus on Nina and Mattias story, maybe introduce Wylan towards the end. And through out dropping hints to Parem? That's where my mind went anyway. I could be wrong, but it would be cool to see.

So I believe season 2 is supposed to be book one of SOC so the Alina line will probably only be for season 1. I think the discovery of parem and that it could potentially be a way to defeat Alina and the Darkling and that can make Yul and the formula more valuable than trying to kidnap Alina.
I just finished Crooked Kingdom (reread) today ,I love the Crows so much and I am insanely excited, it's gonna be a long 23 days!!
I’ve been wondering how they’d connect the crows to the Alina storyline. From a tv show standpoint they had to connect them otherwise it would feel so disjointed. I’m also curious to see Kaz and Inej at this point of their relationship since it’s in between when they first met but before they’re as comfortable with each other as they were in six of crows

I'm so worried about how the Dregs are going to get involved. I'm assuming they're going to fail to capture her so they don't radically change the story, but I'm also now really worried what this means about season two. Cause from the looks of it, Season One is the first book. So what are they going to do with the Crows for season two? Are we going to get the Ice Court Crow stuff at the same time as Siege and Storm stuff?
I’m interested in how they bring in Matthias and Nina. Potentially, Matthias could be part of a Fjerdan mission to capture Alina and they also capture Nina along the way. We get M & N’s shipwreck/journey storyline. But if you look at imdb, Matthias is only listed as being in 1 episode, but Nina is in 5. My guess is we see Nina with the Grisha in Ravka and not with the SoC crew, and the Matthias bit could be near the end of season 1 after she’s kidnapped. Just a guess.
I actually like them pulling in the SoC characters like this because I really didn’t see a way to tie in the two disparate storylines between the trilogy and duology. They have very little overlap and it wouldn’t make sense cohesively to flip back and forth between the two. Capturing Alina for (I assume) the Merchant Council or Van Eck (more likely) makes a lot of sense. She’s valuable & Van Eck would be the type to want to auction her off to the highest bidder.

I guess they don’t want to happen like it happen to TID that was never given a chance because TMI never done really well, even tough TID is like a superior story. They don’t want to take the risk of never being able to show the crows if shadow and bone doesn’t do well because many many people prefer the crows story
I hoped they won't change the plot as much as they did with the Witcher, but after seeing the trailer there's no doubt they will. Well, I'm still hyped 😂
After watching the trailer I was hoping you were going to upload a reaction video. I'm excited for this as a whole but omg Kaz Brekker and the Crows has be freaking out with excitment. I'm pronouncing it Grisha not Greesha also.
Nervous about involving the Crows this early. The first half of S&B is light on plot, so I want to say that's where they'll be incorporated the most, but it would take some extreme skill to weave them in seamlessly instead of tacking them on. TGT has a big enough cast already, throwing in the Crows risks stealing development from both stories.
Casting is and always will be spot on though.
I'm not worried about how they will blend in the SOC plot... but maybe that's because I've been spending so much time on the Grishaverse reddit lol

omg agreeeeed, alina & mal's relationship in the books was.....uhhh.....a bit shallow & uninteresting :') but in these few scenes we've been shown it already looks so much more captivating! also, I'm kinda glad they're tying the crows into the alina storyline bc if it was just following the books chronologically we'd have to wait ages to see them get introduced and I can't handle waiting that long 😅

The way Sam says it is "*Gri*-sha with the 'I' pronounced the same as the word "grin" while the canon pronunciation is "*Gree*sha" where the 'I' is more of an 'E' sound like in "eat." I hope I explained that correctly 😁
Every time I see a promo or teaser I'm more and more into Darklina and I blame Ben Barnes for it!
Unless it´s a giant red herring, they have changed the entire storyline, especially the Dregs stuff, which I am not a fan of. I have been worried ever since I learned they fused SoB and SoC, and honestly, it looks beautiful, but I will probably pass on the show for the moment. I have the story fresh in my mind after the recent reread of the entire series, and it would not sit well with me. I´ll let some time go by and get to it when I am less likely to nit-pick.

i think at the end where alina and mal are escaping, they’ll maybe make it she chooses to go with the crows or they steal her instead? so maybe they end up in kerch rather than novyi zem

I don't feel good about the "bring me Alina" thing. I really hope it doesn't ruin the Six of Crows duology. I mean are they gonna succeed in stealing Alina? If they do, so what? What about the whole situation in the Ravka if Alina isn't there at all? Are Kaz and Inej going to help Alina in the war? It's so messed up. I really want to see Inej and Kaz at their best.
