It's definitely out there. Been there made that. But welders learning this trade need to realize you can make 6 figures. And all at once it's gone. That job is over or the bust hit the oil field, for example. Self employed rig welder= you are responsible for finding your own jobs/next jobs. One can never assume that 6 figure job is going to be there tomorrow. Always be thinking of work you can do.

I've been welding for 15 year's. I spent 13 year's in a fab shop and I survived. I went to the pipeline and and everything in this video became a reality!!! The money is in the effort put out by the individual and their drive for more. A skilled well rounded welder can make 6 figures in 8 months of work. You may work 80-90 hours a week but the cash will flow into your bank account!!!

@@fastdeliveryl708 tig welding can pay more but it's also really hard. Mig welding is basis of welding. Even flux core is harder than gas welding. Stick welding is probably the hardest tbh. I run aluminum, steel, galvanized, stainless. I have my own welder and generator. Next piece I need is a straight generator stick/tig welder. The key is also short circuit transfering if your box is less that required. You can go with a lower powered box if you do this or if the job requirements only require it sometimes as it can save you alot of money. I have a Miller unit that cost me 2k. It runs all the way up to half inch. But I can short circuit transfer and run dual core for outside and solid core for inside. Or I can just stick it with 6010 root and 7018 fill and cover. But that depends on the job. Read up on it. There are alot of things to understand.

Been thinking about side welding stuff so bought a light travel stick welder to kinda get started with. My problem is finding stuff to weld or finding a repeatable product to weld. Thought about fire rings but you can buy em cheaper than you can make em... Will last alot longer but I don't see alot of business from a overpriced fire ring. Saw another guy making trailer ramps seemed simple but would like an easy idea that I know will sell... limited garage welding projects obviously. Thought about getting a generator for welding in the field but want to buy things with money I make so I don't throw a bunch of money at it without making anything out of it. Got any ideas to start with using a small stick welder lol

  • @luisestevez4854

This guy is spot on. I picture it like this and I know analogies are bad but, think of a car salesman. The big money and bonuses and promotions are there if you make the sale and hustle like crazy. How many people are willing to do that? Very few. It's hard work, physically but specially mentally to get to the top. Welding for six figures is the same, most people due to age, family ties or comfort zone can not and will not do it then say it can't be done. Anything is possible but being uncomfortable is key. How many people don't take the promotion and the raise because it means bossing around your former co-workers? Too much hassle, so they stay in their lane and then years into the same job complain they never were given the chance.

Practice. If you have a choice, learn stick first, then TIG, *THEN* MIG. Once you can run a bead with stick, learn 7018 and get good with it. Then 6010.
If you meant 'basic' tips, pay attention to your body while you're welding. You don't want or need a death grip on the stinger, you don't want your shoulders tight, and you want to be comfortable. Brace on the table, the work, or whatever's handy so that you can focus on moving the torch/stinger/nozzle smoothly and evenly.
Lastly, pay attention. Watch the puddle. Don't look behind it or in front of it while you're practicing, just watch what you're doing right then. If it looks like crap, make an adjustment and try again. Padding beads will be a big help, run them on scrap pieces or coupons whenever you can. Watch Jody Collier over at Welding Tips & Tricks, and Lanse Edwards' earlier videos at ChuckE2009 to see and learn the principles of what I've said here, and then practice.
Don't worry about getting cheaper tools at first if you decide to try doing this stuff at home. An angle grinder with cutoff wheels, a wire wheel, & flap discs, a drill with bits and some thread cutting oil, a 6" or 12" combination square, a wire brush, and a chipping hammer will get you off to a good start.

The next thing to consider along the way is whether or not you *ONLY* want to weld, or if you also like the fabricating/machining/manufacturing side of things. Not all of it is always fun, like drilling holes by hand or grinding, but the process sure can be fun.

Beastie, this is not an attack on you personally though you may think it is, i promise you its not! It is however on the words you are passing along! And it is not just you, I'm hearing the same nonsense today from multitudes of people who were mis informed as children just as I was, when I was a kid, "work hard and sacrifice and you'll get what you want!"
That is such bullshit! Who started this scam idea anyway? Anyone know?
(From this point the word 'you' is meant in the general sense, ok?)
First off, we get the very life God has planned for each of us, so just sit back and enjoy the ride! Even if your ride sucks, be thankful it isn't worse!
But even if you don't believe in God, let's break this bullshit down. 'Work hard and sacrifice'; what happens to the body if it is constantly working hard? It gets damaged! Often to the point where it cannot be repaired to the way it was before we fucked it up!
Sacrifice. Sacrifice means to give up something you hold very dearly. It isn't a sacrifice to get rid of shit you don't want, it's only a sacrifice to get rid of shit you want to keep forever and ever! Sacrifice is just a clever way to say trade or compromise.
What are you willing to trade or compromise for alot of money? You time, your wife, your kids, family, friends, or their love? How about your self respect, pride (the good kind) or how bout your soul? And how much money are any of these worth? 5,6,7,8 figures?
'You'll get what you want!" Really? Well if that's so, you must have really wanted poor health and a trail of misery and fucked up relationships! But hey, I hope you at least got 6 figures to keep you compay so you can have the best friends money can buy.
Just as long as you're buying!
Some carpenter from Nazareth once made a counter offer to the "work hard" thing. He said " Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." ( Matt. 11:28-30)
Jesus said this. He says nothing about working hard or sacrifice and, in return offers more than any of our imaginations could conjure up.
But hey, if money is your thing, good luck to ya! You can have my share. God knows I have left plenty on tables all around the world. It just doesn't mean that much to me.

I explained myself very thoroughly so I have to ask did you watch the entire video? This whole video was for the benefit of all those that don’t believe it’s possible and are angry they aren’t making the big money. The very heart of it was explaining how much must be sacrificed to make that much money, to bring light to the very question that must be asked. Is what must be sacrificed worth the money to them, is money really what they want? Cause they can have it, true, but could possibly lose everything else. I understand you’re preaching your truth and what you believe and I believe you truly believe what you do based off your experiences but this video is my truth based of my experiences and I stand by it. Nothing great comes to those who do not work. Since you brought God into it I will make a few comments I believe whole heartedly. God provides opportunity and opens doors but you have to work to fulfill the opportunity and to walk through the door. Everything happens for a reason(God planned or designed) where we are at in life is 100% on us(our choices to take or not take the opportunity and how we react to events that happen) You can be thankful in everything with your attitude or blame God and anything else for your situation. To say God will do it all for you or that it’s all Gods fault you are unhappy with your life removes all responsibility from yourself and puts it on an external thing. That defies what I believe in, if you don’t like something you have the power to change it, therefore your life is 100% your making or what you make of it. To me sacrifice means self discipline, without self discipline finance, health and relationships will all slip from your fingers no matter what your career is. Finally to my last point, no man knows what he truly wants in life he only thinks he does until he achieves it and finds it was not the thing he was seeking after all. That is what life is all about to seek for what your heart desires until you find what it truly is you want. I thought it was money and it wasn’t so I’m chasing after time with my family now but would have never known the lack of fulfillment money would bring me personally without first having it and experiencing it for myself. Truth lies in experience, how you perceive your experience is your truth. Some may agree and most may not but that does not change the fact it is a truth to you. My truth is mine and can’t be changed unless I experience something personally to make me understand differently;) My passion is in the seeking of truth and experiencing life to the fullest. Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch my video I truly enjoy seeing where everyone stands in their person journey.

let me chime in, if it wasn't for sacrifice you wouldn't have the life you enjoy right now, thanks to truckers sacrificing, you are able to buy groceries hardware, anything you purchase, most were brought by truckers, next look at the linemen if not for them, you would be in dark ages, many risk their lives daily, to make sure others have electricity, replacing or maintaining electric lines while they are still live. if Farmers didn't work long hours, and make sacrifices, you would have to be responsible for raising & gathering your own food. I can go on, but the good life you live is due to other peoples sacrifices. so if people didn't make sacrifices, YOU would be responsible for your whole life, finding ways to heat your dwelling, no air, & hunting, trapping, fishing farming for food, but you wouldn't be making any sacrifices.

@@randymack1782 you find being self sufficient objectionable? I dont. As I was reading the last few lines of your comment I was thinking how cool it must have been for those folks living prior to the industrial revolution.

actually I love the old ways, all 4 of my grandparents were born before 1910, wish were still here, but I learned a lot from them. but think of it this way, you are helping people, one way or another, as most of society cant or don't want to, but have no problem working to buy goods, I do see things in a strange light. I believe in working on holidays, it isn't about the money, its about helping others, growing up here, junkyards & gun shops would be open on holidays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc, & it wasn't about the money, it was so people in need could get what they needed, if car broke down, could find a part, & gun shops wasn't about selling guns, but was more for selling ammo & fishing supplies, or bait, for youngsters to go have fun. now everyone uses it as an excuse to get a day off. I grew up with old attitudes, that people today call scrooge, but it was for helping, not to line pockets.
I actually make a point to shop at a rural "country" grocery store for majority of my groceries, 25 miles away, but when we work in that town, why? every other week, because of attitudes, & they are always there with a smile, friendly, & honestly nice, & even if raining, the bagger wants to take groceries to car and help load, basically same prices as big chain store. when was last time you actually got waited on & knew person was genuinely friendly & sincere?

@@Welderbeast hey man first off, thank you! Thanks for not taking my comment as a personal afront and for your heartfelt response. This is a side of yourself you may be reluctant to expose online and I apologize if my remarks caused you to go places you would have rather not gone.
Yes I did watch the whole video. There was a time in my younger days when I would have taken all these motivational videos on CZcams as Gospel and absolutely said you were so right! Good thing for me youtube wasnt around 45 years ago! I may have made videos too saying "Work hard, take chances, invest in yourself and your tools. Don't get married so you can focus completely on yourself and what ever you are chasing after!" Oh yeah dude, I was you and then some! I was in the IATSE (Stagehand union), Teamsters, and Millwrights Union. Always hustling, playing in a band, doing almost anything to turn a profit.
I never had just one job other than while I was in the Army. Didn't get married til I was 37 and never had kids of my own but I do have two step-children.
Yeah man I was always making money and spending it too, fast bikes, faster women and lotsa whiskey! The rest I squandered.
Yeah, I was you and then some. Until I wasnt!
When I had a work related multi level broken back 9 years ago that has taken my out of the game. If that wasn't bad enough, 7 years ago my wife was diagnosed with 2 separate types of cancer for which she is still receiving treatments.
So, just as you stand by your words and beliefs, so I stand by mine! None of us know for sure what life has instore for us from one minute to the next until it happens. Just like Jan.4, 2010 at 7:14 AM I was working and had no idea at 7:15 I would never work again!
And lastly, so you wont suffer any further anxiety while reading future video comments, from this point on I will refrain from commenting on your videos. You're welcome! I'll remove the ones from this video if you wish.
God bless you and your family and I pray for your great success!
