- Today I take apart the Vondior AM FM Weather radio to see whats inside. We will see if the build quality and quality control is the same inside and out.

Wow! Talk about 6 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound enclosure.... That solder glob was just a cheep RF shield. lol
It’s fully packed for sure. I bet the factory worker has about three seconds to make all the hand soldered connections before it get packed in the box.
Can I suggest measuring power consumption in mili Amps (mA) when working on low volume ?
So we can know how many hours will work ?
For instance, if this radio draw 33 mA, with batteries AAA of 1000mA it will work at most 30 hours.
I will also be interested in measuring standby current so i'll know how many days will work on clock.
For instance, if it draws 100 uA (microAmp) it will work 10k hours wich means somwhere over one year (8760 hours) like a clock.
Measuring is done in series with one battery with a multimeter. A cheap multimeter (10$ or so) should be enough.

I took some measurements for you. When the clock is on without the backlight is draws .095ma with the backlight it draws 11ma. With the radio on at a low volume and no backlight it draws 41.24ma. With the radio on low volume with the backlight on it draws 50ma. I hope you find this interesting and I’m glad you enjoy the tear down videos. Thanks for watching! 👍❤️📻
