I use olive oil to take off stubborn adhesive on glass jars too. What I do is I would soften the adhesive with my heat gun then pour some olive oil on a steel scrubbing pad and scrub in a circular motion. Afterwards wash it with soap and warm water
After soaking off the paper label, make a paste of bicarbonate of soda and cooking oil , paint on and leave for 10 mins and wash.. it's miraculous...I had to do 200 bottles, so this was a God-send !!
Great tip!
What you just described is essentially soap!
You've combined an alkalai and fat.
Sometimes that's lye and lard, but it can be baking soda and oil -
Generally, I believe it needs to be cooked, but all the same, it works.
I only know this because I found it in the" Mr Wizards's Supermarket Science" book and made it with my kids when we were homeschooling.
Just a tip use vinegar and paper to wipe out the entire jar it removes oils and grease
Beautiful work
Thanks for sharing. To get my labels off, I only use a blow dryer.I have no problem with any residue remaining. It always work
Yes some will work great with this method
I love that your DIY's are with in reason of real hobbies crafters❤❤❤❤❤.😊
Thanks for watching
To remove labels and sticky residue on glass, drop a few drops of Orange essential oil on label, let it sit for a minute, rub it in, and label comes off. Scouring pad could scratch the glass. Goo b gone also works great and is sold at Dollar Tree.
Great tip!
I use eucalyptus essential oil and it's very effective! Same method, a few drops rubbed into the sticky residue after the label is off, and wipes off with a paper towel. For very faint residue, I put a few drops directly onto a small square of paper towel and rub it off.
I am new to your channel and i absolutely love you ideas in already using what we already have at home. Thank you for sharing your ideas and how to make our own things to use for ones who may not be able to afford the priceier stuff. I cant wait to see maby more videos or your. ❤
You are so welcome!
Citrus Magic works well and smells great. It also works well to remove black marks on your floor. 😊
Lots of great creative ways to reuse jars, and I use coconut oil to take off the residue on the jar, put some on the jar let sit a few minutes then use a sponge or a scrubber to remove the residue off.
Thanks for the tip!
for the rest of the sticky residue i usually just rub some dawn directly on it ..leave it for a while and then i use a steal wool to scrub it :) works great .. thanks for your video
That's a good idea!
And I thought I was the only one that collected jars. So glad I found you❤❤❤
Thanks for following along
Thank you for sharing - you have great ideas - so many possibilities as you say. My fav are the textured jars - but I do love them all
You are so welcome!
Merci pour toutes ces astuces...

Yay! Thank you! Sounds like so much 🤩 fun
So the labels adhere to the bottle with the Staples label paper? Not the contact paper. This is such a wonderful technique that I must try as I do save glass jars all the time. Thank you.
I love the colored glass with light shining through
Thanks for watching
if it`s colored glass don`t paint it and let the light shine through it
YOU Should make a video with how to make your homade chalk paint ,homade modge podge , Jjust all your homade stuff that you use .

I'm so happy to see a fellow recyclers. I can't throw away a glass jar or bottle. And that expensive spray on texture is not just expensive, it's also harmful to our world. Cute cute cute! I just decoupage wine bottles with leftover colored tissue paper with my grandkids and my mom who has Advanced dementia, just 2 days ago❤❤❤😊 You got a fan in me for life!
Excellent glad your enjoying ❤️

Everything you’ve done it so pretty, neat looking, I love the way you use the jute, I really love the jute, so different, not the the old jars, they all are just great. I’m want to to join with you to get
Some of the labels . I’ve tried shopping on Etsy one time, I just didn’t have good luck, maybe I can get some help., Thank you so much for sharing with us, I save almost ever jar, and the big clean cans I paint them. For personal reasons, I do not like old, dirty, looking stuff. But I love all the bright flowery stuff you do!!

I try to sort jars n bottles so ones with stubborn labels r used for projects where they can be left intact....plastered over😊
Also I have a tote on my deck with enough water to drown a wine bottle😂
I put them babies in n let 'em soak for days b4 thinking of any scrubbing. ❤ Water is the element of elements❤TYFS❤

Glad you like them!
I soak my glass in hot soapy water...peel away labels...wipe with alcohol and cloth when dry. I use Rustoleum 2x primer and white matte on my glass...
Yes that works good!
Just subbed as I too hv jars and bottles collected, I’m from uk and the sos wire scrubbers here are called Brillo pads because of the brand here.
There are some wonderful ideas here. Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to try your chalk paint recipe.😊
Works great

2:18:18 i think the paper clay crock is my favorite! Love how drastic the transformation is.
2:30:45 I also love the netted sea glass lanterns!
Glad you enjoyed ❤️
I love this video! This is brilliant! My favorite is the one with the banana hanger make over. Very clever! Thank you for the recipe on the chalk paint. Can this recipe be used on our left over house exterior paint?
Not exterior paint only interior
So smart
Thank uou
Glad you enjoyed
I use Goo Gone to remove the residue left when removing labels. For stubborn residue, I leave a wash cloth with a large amount of Goo Gone across the label area for an hour or longer. It works very well.
Great tip!
Me too!
😊a super quick way to remove labels from glass, pour some boiling water in and it just peels right off, just don't burn yourself
@@dinarusso3320 I have done that, but it doesn’t work all the time.
I have used castor oil and lemon oil to get the glue off. Also, scented essential oils works too.
Great tip
I save them for take home. When my sister makes homade chilling I jar me some to go.
White Spirit is great for getting rid of the glue residue under jar labels.
I have some of the pretty napkins from some stores .
Goo Gone take the labels right off! And, a little goes a long way! Also, Dawn Dish Spray works good too, but Goo Gone is better.
Thanks for the tips!
The sticker that says "just give me coffee and a thrift store" if you change the S to a $tore, you could use it for a little savings jar for thrifting.
Great idea
Great tips ❤️
10:18 LOVE THIS!!!
Thanks

Try using rubbing alcohol to remove print on glass bottles. It works well for most.
Great tip
I use isopropyl probably same thing as rubbing alcohol
Baby wipes works great on a lot of things. (Which always makes me wonder what is in them and if they are safe for the babies. 😮)
A little bit of vegetable oil and baking soda takes the glue off the jars is similar to Glue gone.❤
Thanks for the tip!
I just found your channel. Your projects are so nice. I love all you do. What I really like about you is you explain things well can you use things that most people have on hand. Also, recipes for making your own paint, etc.
I was wondering why you don't trim more of the paper off before you decoupage? I get closer to text. Does the straight lines/rectangular shape help you place it?
I only have one negative thing to say, and maybe you've been told before, but my inner teacher must tell you that you're pronouncing decoupage incorrectly. It is "day" not "dec".
For your garden lid labels, you may want to use E6000. When hot come summer, it will melt your hot glue😳
Good tip
I use goo gone. It works great for stubborn glue that doesn't soak off.
Great tip!
58:36 -- Dirt. Awesome secret ingredient for textured glass. 🎉
Works great
YOU are my diy-er guru! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Can you put air dry clay over a bottle that has a coat of clear wax on it? Can you put air dry clay on top of spray paint?
Yes you can!
To remove glue residue, I usually use 92% Isopropol Rubbing Alcohol. Though Goo Gone is another thing to use or some even have used a rubber eraser (like those bumpy square ones you find in craft stores). I prefer rubbing alcohol. The residue has to be completely dry first. Sometimes if that don't work, I let it dry completely and then take a bit of duct tape and tap on it to lift the residue off.
Great tips
I cannot see your Chalk paint recipe😢 Would you please share the link? I follow your upscyle videos, you are so gifted and I appreciate that you share all of these great techniques with us, thank you. 26:59

I use WD40 to remove any sticky residue on glass, or any awkward stuff on tools, like rust, cement etc, magic stuff!
Since Modpodge has a sealer in It, could you use some type of liquid sealant in the homemade one? I wonder if the transfers would work with that? Also, if it works, how cost-efficient would it be?
I wish your videos whyere clear and fully showing everything
The one that you did the twine around - have you ever tried the twine behind the cardboard and graphic? Just curious if it worked, if so. 😊
Not yet!
Didn't she do the exact same thing 5 times? And she's going to do this 29 times. Oh. My. God.
I am new to your channel... loving this video but ... are all your videos 3 hours long???
Too much for me in one sitting, have to break it up... but loving your projects.
My favorite finish after 40 minutes of watching is the jars painted on the inside and baked. Loved the finished look 😊
Oh no lots of shorter videos ❤️ have a look around
Grunge mix used tea from bags, cinnamon, coffee grounds or instant coffee, old spices that need replacing.

I've used crackle before with my crafts but you have taken that to the next level ❤ I love it.

I use rubbing alcohol to take off the glue. Quick and easy.
Isopropyl alcohol takes the residue off easily. So does nail polish remover
I have lots of glass bottles from grape juice, and I really dont know what to do with them all.
I love the ideas with the lids, but I dont want to just decorate the bottles
Thanks for watching
if you don't want it rough could your use a 3rd coat of just plainpaint
Very nice 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen
Glad you enjoyed
Would it be helpful for your fingers to use one of those rubber fingers for rubbing. ?
You can for initial paper but to finish it is really hard to feel it and you could rub off graphic
Olá, você consegue retirar o resíduo de cola dos vidros utilizando um algodão embebido em ACETONA, a mesma que usamos para limpar o esmalte das unhas. 🥰
Great tip
Goo gone. After soaking and peeling labels off use goo gone and a scotch brite pad, after it’s all gone mix in same pad with dawn or Palmolive and last wash with dish soap only. Its really fast. Goo gone does not bother ur hands .
Great tip!
How about putting homemade peanut butter cookies in the peanut butter jar?
Could you use polycrylic to seal the inside of the bottles with the glue and food coloring?
You could but still not waterproof
Would wax paper work instead of cd label paper? Have you tried it?

I'm having trouble with the rub off process. No matter how gently I rub, some of my letters always comes off. Additionally, they aren't very black- they still have a film when I seal it. Also, there is an edge left around my items, which you can clearly see when sealed. I have attempted many times and my result is subpar. Any other ideas?
Are you using an ink jet?
I am having trouble finding the video on how to resize in google docs, if it’s posted in the description as mentioned, I can’t see it. I just scrolled through all of your videos and looked for the yellow background. You do have one titled how to mirror image in google, is that the correct one? Thanks

For the sake of the environment and limiting plastic waste, Why not mix the school glue and food dye in the glass jar itself, instead of using plastic pots?
This comment’s degree of annoyance….10 …… Just STOP it….
It would be difficult to mix it as well because of the height of the jar. You can use empty yoghurt pots. That way, you're not contributing to extra and unnecessary waste.
Will all glass tolerate being baked? I have 3 clear glass vases that I was given by someone selling them on Marketplace. (They had 50 to sell. When I went to pay for my 3, they wouldn't allow me to pay.) I don't want them to crack or shatter. Thank you
Give me a break
Sadly sooooo petty but an fyi they are reusable containrrs.
Is there any actual tips for using old bottles except decoration? Waste of my time.
Storage, propagating, herbs etc...
I use them to give my husband's roses to others as a vase, make iced tea at work, store bulk items etc
Decorate them and use at your desk for office supplies: pens, pencils, paper clips, staples, rubber bands; cotton balls and q-tips in the restroom; toothpaste and brush holder; hair brush and comb holder.
Rice, pasta, salt, sugar, flour.
Vase for flowers. Hope this helps.
