  • Atomic Brewery, located in Redfern, Sydney, is an experimental and colourful brewery that celebrates visitors’ love for beer by giving guests an enriched interior to relax in. Inspired by the idea of sharing moments with friends, Atomic Brewery believes that beer is more than just liquid but the moments it facilitates. Moreover, the team explores flavours in beer by being experimental and flexing their creative muscles with the beverages they create. Acknowledging that the suburb was going through a process of gentrification, the brief asked for a preservation of some of the streetscape as well as a sensitive approach to the interior design. As such, the exterior of the building is kept raw and as it existed, except for the sections that were in dire need of repair or upgrading, such as the awning that covers the façade. The same approach was taken internally, though the design is defined by insertions within the existing space.
As an experimental and colourful venue, the interior of Atomic Brewery consists of raw brick on the existing walls, spray paint from previous renovations and some marks of demolition. Remaining sensitive to the fact that things change, Atomic Brewery acknowledges the past through many of its design details. Though it is an experimental and colourful brewery, it still allows people to feel comfortable and welcome from the moment they walk in. Capturing attention from the moment one enters is the bar, which features a unique and alluring bright green counter made of high-quality material that becomes one of the major statement pieces. Complemented with a saw tooth roof, Atomic Brewery is given a wealth of both natural light and colourful dropped electric lights that highlight focal points within the space.
Out the back of the experimental and colourful brewery are the tanks in which the beer is made. Though a challenge, the tanks were installed after the bar had been placed at the entrance. From its lights, unique bar top and exposed material detailing, Atomic Brewery is an experimental and colourful brewery that cannot be compared to anything else. Marrying the industrial hardness of a brewery with the existing building, Atomic Brewery is a showcase in how a brewery and hospitality space can come together. Moreover, as a comfortable and inviting place, Atomic Brewery is an experimental and colourful brewery that emphasises a love of beer and community.

I don't drink beer and live in the UK. However that misses the point! Stunning building. Attention to detail. Zoned spaces and lighting. Yet the 'raw guts' of the building not lost. Will last forever. Would be for sure on my to visit list if/when i return to Sydney. More Commercial Project content please. Thank You.
