Small detail I love: after Pearl and Volleyball unfuse, we don't see Volleyball's cracked eye. They deliberately hid it to keep it vague if she had 'recovered' or not. Even in later episodes where Volleyball appears as a background character, they ALWAYS go the extra mile to keep her eye hidden
Why would they do that though? To me it just seems like the writers are unsure what to do with it
@@xnortheast1106 I disagree. I think it’s interesting to leave that detail up to interpretation. Some wounds heal but will always be permanent, that’s how it is. Some wounds heal AND FADE, that’s ALSO how it is.
*Is it me who actually got kinda annoyed at that?*
Like , it felt like Volleyball healing her eye was such a crucial thing and for them to just make it become like a “haha , we’ll make sure you’ll never know” joke just made me mad.
@@Kaybri0526 I fully agree with you.
@@xempororhxppyx similarly, I just felt like they should’ve shown that it was still there. like, the key moment triggering their fusion was Pearl going “I didn’t” in regards to Volleyball asking her how she moved on, so I feel like that sentiment should probably be mirrored in Volleyball’s scar
The really interesting thing about Pink / Rose is that you get to see her character development backwards. You hear about her being amazing but honestly her biggest achievement was her ability to change. She had a temper, she had tantrums, she had a scream that could crack walls, but when Pearl (our Pearl) meets her she's gentle and has a soothing voice. It shows she regrets what happened with her original Pearl so she avoids doing it again. She's bratty and entitled at the beginning but she matures into somoene who cares about others. Moreover in Future you start to see Steven showing that temper, and that destructive power, and thinking he's a monster because he thinks Pink was a monster, when in reality she was a bad person who actively made efforts to change into a better one. And even though we were told she was this perfect shining beacon, she never was. So people think that seeing her flaws suddenly makes her evil.
honestly, people seeing her as a bad character is understandable since we're seeing her development backwards, so at the end we only see consequences of her actions. no one ever mentions how she grew up and got affected by that
Yeah she definitely got WAY better after becoming rose.
That's the idea Pink had the same toxic traits as the other diamonds and became Rose to overcome them the problem was due to her dying the Pink Diamond past never got resolved and only was buried
@@caoinhnamkhanh2795 yes the fact that she grew up in what was essentially a toxic situation and still managed to find empathy is kind of amazing
She (Pink) changed and grew. But could only influence and truly embrace those changes to make things better by being a literally whole new person (Rose Quartz).
26:33 Interesting detail: Grass, seafood, and nuts are the 3 most common allergies in humans. So Bluebird put that meal together hoping to give Steven an allergic reaction
Lmao
why is that like actually a good plan
Flame palt@ lol

The thing about Rose that trips people up is that we see her character progression backwards. We see her as this great person who gets worse and worse the more you learn about her in the past. But it's not really fair to judge someone based on what they were like when they were basically a teenager. Even at the end, she did some selfish things and made mistakes, but she very clearly felt guilty about who she had been.
Remember what Greg said about how she always felt like she had to confess things she'd done to him, but he didn't care about that. He loved who she was, a kind and loving person who saw the best in everyone around her. It wasn't fair the way she left everyone who was unhealthily dependent on her, but in the end, it was actually the best for everyone. Greg is the only one who had a real, healthy relationship with her.
I'm glad you caught the fact that they showed us the exact kind of tantrums Pink threw. It establishes important context- that Pink wasn't physically abusive towards her pearl, it was truly an accident that was a result of her emotions getting the best of her. Moreover, that incident was so impactful that it changed Pink's personality. She became more secretive and reined in her emotions because she didn't want to hurt anyone else close to her, but that didn't work either, as keeping secrets ultimately lead to the gems being corrupted. Pink's behavior though is a direct result of how the diamonds raised her. She was taught that as a diamond, she was meant to be worshipped because she was perfect, but the other diamonds treated her like she was broken, flawed, and off color. Essentially a stain on the diamond authority, and she felt that every day she was on homeworld. As a side note, Rose didn't have Steven to escape her problems -there'd been no sign of homeworld activity on the planet for several thousand years and she didn't know about the cluster. She had Steven because Steven would be capable of the one thing she admired so much about humanity - the ability to grow and change. It's a sore spot for her because she had to learn to grow on her own, as gems don't age and aren't really capable of changing like humans do, and her immaturity was what the other diamonds made her feel miserable about all the time. But Steven would possess these traits naturally and would be far better than she would ever be capable of being. She only wanted the best for him, despite all the shit that oddly happened 12 years after her death.
Greg and Pearl were like "nope, no emotional trauma today"
Which us understandable knowing them..
If there’s anything the whole fandom would say when watching this season was “Therapy”😂
That and memeing on the intro and changing the lyrics.
"WeeEEEEEEE AAAARE IN FEAAAAAAAR

@@eaglefan2569 lmao yessssss I remember that💀
and "FEAR" aaaaa good times
According to “Steven universe canon” when a gem is made, the gems made are like hundreds of little mirrors, made to reflect their creator in more ways than one.
@fan yilipe it’s a thing that needs observation, future episode 6 - all 3 rose quarts represent a different side to Pink, the one who is very lax is how chill Pink was about the discovery of Earth, the energetic one is how she was very energetic and joyful she was about everything, and the one that looks exactly like her is rebellious and can read the room, symbolic of how her sense of justice prevailed over her status as a diamond
Let us all have 5 seconds of silence for Greg's hair. May it find better life in the next world, than it did in this one.
Idk why Steven can't just kiss his dad on his head to make him not bald anymore at least, he did it with Connie's eyes
@@willspikes One thing is to heal someone's vision and other thing is to make someone's hear grow
@@willspikes I think he can only heal injuries? Maybe Connie’s eyes were a result of something not natural, while Greg’s hair is due to aging which is natural.
ngl i actually felt really bad for him lmao imagine how long it took for him to grow it
I agree heavily about Rose. I think she was a good person in the end, I believe that she really did change. But she def did awful things to people in the past.
It doesn't help that we're shown Rose's development essentially in reverse. Starting with her being this 'perfect' figure, before we're gradually shown her flaws and her past until it essentially consumes her character. Watching it presented in reverse makes it feel like she's "falling to the Dark Side", so to speak.
@@MattTOB618 Fr having to see her bad moments towards the end of the show will have a longer lasting impression on people
Is because pink diamond try to hurt her pearl with destructive power to crack his eye so her new pearl is here, pink pearl has returned to white is because pink diamond is tired of asking yellow and blue returns to white and pink pearl turn to white pearl so she's not pink diamonds pearl anymore, pink diamond has many amethyst, rose quartz is amethyst too but she had enough and go next place and has a sword and shattered pink diamond so she's leaving with diamonds, rose quartz was pearl that shattered pink diamond, now rose is here shattered or poof those gem but there is Ruby and sapphire that actually fuse, turn to garnet but is different, when they fuse, they turn to cotton candy garnet and rose and Greg are having a song with gems, pearl is jealous that rose was with Greg and pearl came here to rose to have a fusion called rainbow quartz
Ok guys my hand are tired but I'll do tomorrow
I feel like thats fair but you can't overlook there's a lot of bad things she did that she also never fixed. abandoning spinel, bubbling away bismuth, etc
Pink Diamond so powerful that here simply being upset cracked the reality of how something appeared in the universe. That’s literally like if someone could scream at you and the coding of you DNA was permanently scrambled from the sheer will power. She put her soul into that scream. We have to keep in mind though that Pink was actually really sweet and playful and all the damage she caused mostly stemmed from the negative effects her older siblings had on her. She literally had no idea what consequences were beside being patronized a pampered everyday. People can barely hand 5 minutes of that let alone thousands of years. Anybody would easily have a tantrum or two or even not understand the consequences of their actions when they finally get what they want. She wasn’t necessarily raised by understanding beings. Everything negative about rose in my opinion I just attribute to White Diamond’s over all bad influence on gem kind. Even the other two diamonds said they only were the way they were to make white happy because if they didn’t she could make them. It’s literally her ability. When you have a goal to reach and you wield so much power even people who have good intentions will trigger unfavorable outcomes just by the nature of wielding so much at once.
Her powers are so scary. All the diamonds powers are scary..
What people keep forgetting when watching the reverse character development of Rose Quartz is that she is everything that White Diamond purged of her flaws of immaturity, naivete, etc, everything that encapsulates being a very young child. Then you take that and put it into the caste system where gems are not only just servants but some are literal tools to be used as viewers forget they aren't human and are a completely different species. They are a closer to programmed machines that work on mostly their programmed instincts. That's what makes the whole journey of PD and other gems suppose to be impactful in that they did change from these innate programming and again, "change" is the biggest development for PD but that also doesn't mean all prior flaws disappear either.
The music track for the Peal fusion is called "Prince Pearl", which along with her design is a reference to Revolutionary Girl Utena.
2:47 I love that they made Connie a reference to the "Lo-Fi stream girl", down to even flipping the page!
While I’m here just gonna give some recommendations anyway, Amphibia and Owl House are two good series to watch that are kinda like this

Worth remembering with RQ, we saw her character development in reverse order. It looks like negative character development, but because we're learning more and more about her previous ways as time goes on. All of these facets of her personality are true, but it's worth remembering she improved over time: we just learned more about her as the show advanced.
Pink did grow up at the end during her time with Greg. But during that time Pink/Rose had no way to get back to Spinel or Volleyball to fix things and I think she was a bit afraid to do so.
Afraid in a way where she would get reminded of her time as pink diamond
"Anyone with a bowl cut is evil"
... Apologize to Rock Lee, Metal Lee and Might Guy!!!
Interesting fact: in episode 3, in pretty sure his mom's tape was not actually in the TV. I'm pretty sure that was his powers. Both steven and rose have effected technology in the past when rose messed up Greg's music thing (I feel dumb for not remembering what it's called) after he tries to fuse with her and yells at her, and steven messed up the TV in the little butler episode in season 1
Just a little FYI: Smokey goes by They/Them.
Most of Stevens Fusions go at least partly by they/them -> Rainbow 2.0 (He/They), Sunstone (She/They), Stevonnie (They/Them).
The only exception is Steg who goes by He/Him :)
Steven Universe Futue really made me love Steven way more than I knew I could. I just relate to his struggle so much and this entire spinoff hit way too close to home.
SAME. Teen Steven is so fucking good.
absolutely same!
@@nuibaba280technically
he was always a teen
his half gem kept him from being a real teen
Krysta, just letting you know there's like 11 SU shorts. 7 "micro-episodes", 3 of the gem classroom shorts and the extended intro. Worth a reaction if you feel like capping it off. You can find most of those in the Cartoon Network YT channel.
I don’t see enough people reacting to Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts! Kipo reminds me of Steven. You don’t have to do a full reaction if you wanna, but it’s still a great show!
yeooo i been wantin somebody to react to dat too . that show is hella slept on
I love that show
Kipo is great stuff.
(Also She-Ra, Gravity Falls, The Owl House)
I agree! REACTION TO KIPO AND THE AGE OF WONDERBEASTS IS A MUST
Kipo is BRILLIANT.
I never noticed Aquamarina didn't have her headband/weapon anymore
The grass, shellfish, and peanut butter... common allergens LOL
I love that the bathroom has become like, the panic/war room of the house. XP
i just realized that the end scene is foreshadowing
its so crazy that youve gotten here so fast!! I hope you enjoy everything SUF brings you!!
f for gregs hair. you will be remembered
Honestly I love this show so much. They did a great job with this epilogue sorta thing
Finally, i have been waiting to see your reaction, as i love these episodes!
F for poor Greg’s hair. 😞🙏
Here we go again…I tried to avoid watching Future again bc I literally went through the same things Steven did when this was coming out..
5:44 Also there’s a form for that called Super Saiyan Rosé(my favorite!)
So your mom is a big assed gem?
Oh man I love these episodes they lay so much groundwork for the themes of the series.
I know you've already mostly decided on what you're watching next but just in case one vote makes a difference, Infinity Train is really the only modern kids show I've enjoyed as much as Steven Universe (though Gravity Falls is great too, and definitely more popular).
I've just marathoned your whole Steven Universe reaction series up to this point, and its given me a well-needed rush of SU nostalgia!
I actually LOVE how we learned Pink/Rose’s character arc in reverse
We started learning about how she healed people who were hurt and did the right thing
And then we learned about her OLD destructive and selfish nature
YESSSS LETS GET INTO THE TRAUMA
i just finished binging all of your steven universe reactions and the movie today and i love how it worked out for me to start steven universe future with you!
WHY HAVEN'T I FOUND THIS CHANNEL SOONER 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Jasper is a person that her toxic traits have defined her for so long she enjoys them and unfortunately some people are like that
When I first watch Steven universe the movie afterwards I was really upset with Rose and I just hated her. But after some reflection I realized that she changed, when she first starts out she has all those temper tantrum‘s she hurts her pearl and leaves spinel out in the garden. But then she got a new pearl and started changing her morals and how she acted. I assume that she realized what she did to volleyball, reflected and I like to believe that that’s when she decided she was going to change.
Exactly, this is what most people immediately forget when talking about rose. Pretty much everyone she hurt besides Pearl she hurt before she even DISCOVERED humanity- and therefore, before she became enlightened.
The plate of food Bluebird was trying to feed to Steven was all stuff humans are commonly allergic to. Lol grass, peanut butter and clams.
She was trying to kill him still.
Pearls: Go through a fashion mal which exists to style ur personal slave
Krys: Aww so cute
haha
06:32 "Can they breathe in there, Steven?" Steven survived in space with the bubble, so I'm willing to guess that it sort of provides its own livable conditions, thankfully. Baby birds are safe :3
Rip Gregs hair.. Ive been bawling my eyes out ever since..the saddest death in the entire show 😔
Connie the Lofi girl!
Thank you for the two likes :)
That rose quartz scene made my stomach turn
If you wanna react to a show not many have done, then Onyx Equinox is an option. It's an animated series made by Crunchyroll set in Prehispanic Mesoamerica, with the Aztec, Maya, etc. I do writeups on that stuff, and help history and archeology channels with content on it, and it's EASILY the most authentic and well researched I've seen the subject handled. (and i'd be happy to give input/resources about it, if you're curious)
Praying the next show is Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated!
I actually cried so much when I first saw Greg cut his hair 😭😭
21:21
"What did Pink get you?"
"TRAUMA."
Im dead 💀💀
I find roses arc to be sooo interesting. At the beginning of the show we learn about rose at what is functionally the end of her life, a Being filled with intense regret who is very aware of her shortcomings. And as we continue on the path of truth, we learn about what those shortcomings are. And people forget about the fact that she for the majority of the story was someone trying SO HARD to make up for her past mistakes, all while running from them. In the end, she could never truly free herself from her actions, even when she became someone literally completely different.
I really like how she enjoys the series :'].
I feel proud and happy for some reason.
I'm pretty sure when Greg said "I can feel the rest of my hair falling out" That was foreshadowing lol
@KristolagyReacts after Pink cracked her Pearl "Volleyball", white diamond took mind control over that pearl and the other diamonds replaced her with Spinel and a new pearl (our pearl).
Anyone can change. They just hav to be open to it.
-Probably someone famous
Steven should’ve left Jasper alone. She obviously didn’t want to be bothered and was fine where she was. I would’ve been glad she wasn’t trying to kill anyone or force any fusions🤷🏾♂️.
Also I always forget that Pink chose to look like the Quartzes. An interesting turn of events when you think about how she stole their form to start a war, condemning the rest😭.
Laramar likes the screams of joy. But she can’t tell the difference from joy and terror.
Bluebird is a cool and intriguing villain, and I’m interested to see how Holly Blue’s resentment towards Steven will play into things. I wonder when they’re gonna show up again…
Rose was not naturally empathetic, which lead to the 'tornado' you describe. She never considered how her actions affected others, she was almost incapable of that level of foresight. But I think her value comes in how she _tried_ to change regardless, tried to be a good person and even if she didn't quite succeed she still did a lot of good. She didn't have the emotional maturity to handle the amount of power she had until she had already done awful, awful things. I like to hope that eventually Steven will have a smaller picture of her around, once he's recovered and gained enough distance to see both the good and the bad.
One thing that's important to note - Rose was so guilty and horrified over what she did to Pink Pearl that she _never used her destructive powers again._ Not even when it might have helped the rebellion. She can't have, because Pearl never knew about it, to the extent she couldn't believe she was capable. I think Rose overcorrected to hiding everything because she didn't trust herself to be open and honest anymore. It's a small thing. But it's a commitment.
Her "trying to change" doesn't mean much when her actions still led to the deaths of countless gems in a pointless war that she started. I say pointless because while earth Is important to *us* it's very insignificant on a universal scale. Pink diamond didn't care about all of the other planets with life that the diamonds colonized during the thousands of years that she was with them. She just took a liking to earth and decided she wanted to protect it. Even then, she put earth in the crossfire by having a war on it! All of the diamonds are garbage because they come from white diamond, who is a textbook dictator. I just feel like the diamonds in general got let off way too easy for all of the atrocious things they've done to their own species and to others.
The overcorrecting isn't a "small" thing, it's huge, because it shows that she didn't change for the better she just *changed*. Now she's lying to everyone closest to her about her past, and more importantly, she never freed pearl from the order she had made to her in order to keep up her lie. She didn't even trust the gems that would lay down their lives for a planet that they weren't sure about. Pearl was only freed by Steven, and he shouldn't have had to experience that trauma just to clean up her mess. She also bubbled bismuth simply because she disagreed with her methods in a WAR. she wanted to have her cake and eat it too. She started a war but didn't want to kill, so she punished the people protecting her that genuinely wanted to be free, not prolong the issue.
@@MadLover4690 Couple of things.
1. While it is only word of god and not stated in the show itself, the Diamonds had never encountered sentient life before earth. So Pink just keeping a few as pets is almost understandable.
2. The central theme of the show is restorative justice, doing what you can to fix what you've done. So the point behind Pink/Rose was that she was doing her best to change for the better, whether or not she succeeded is rather beside the point. The point is that there's no point of no return, you can always decide to try and do better and trying is worthwhile in itself so long as it's earnest.
3. 'Killing' isn't just death in this universe. It's eternal torture. It's quite a different thing. Bubbling gems away pretty much accomplishes much the same thing, even if there is a risk of their being rescued it definitely outweighs the moral and psychological weight of condemning thousands to a fractured existence.
4. I agree that redemption happened too quickly for the Diamonds, but I don't think that had much to do with the creative team and more what they were given to work with.
@@KaiseaWings your first point is irrelevant. Don't bring religion into a fictional universe without one, there is no "god" in this show. Also, they have technology capable of pumping something that kills all life (think spinel), and peridot even told Steven that the diamonds would go to planets to take all of their resources to make kindergartens for more soldiers. Sentient life doesn't need to be human-like, it would make sense that pink diamond would be interested in keeping them as pets, just like she treated Greg like one for a while before she "changed".
You also didn't have a comment on the pearl issue, or the lying to people that are willing to die for you. Bubbling really isn't that much different from being in a state of purgatory. When you think about it, they're not technically living beings, they're literally made out of inorganic material, so I agree that "death" doesn't mean much to them, they'd just be stuck in whatever form they're in. Still, because of that, I would say being forced to be in a bubble for thousands of years while your friends are destroyed outside (and you don't even know it) is just as cruel of a fate to have.
Also, the creative team *is* responsible for how the story goes, what are you talking about? Rebecca and the other storyboard artists are literally in charge of the story. Were the animators responsible? No. They were given multiple seasons by CN to tell their story, and they wasted more time on onion and *Ronaldo* than the actual true antagonists of the show! They wasted so much time and took so many hiatus just to give us more filler. Jasper has more development (as a villain that isn't magically a friend) than any of the diamonds have. And that's likely because they were basing her character arc off of Vegeta.
Even with the steven universe movie, spinel points out that she has been abandoned for thousands of years which, is not something that one little song from steven can change. Then of course that one song is all it takes to change her completely, and by future it's like she has a complete character change, back to her original annoying self. The creators really mess up a lot of these big character's development.
I totally get Steven's reaction I react the same when anyone brings up my father.
AHHH WE ARE ALMOST DONE WITH THE SHOW
I'm so excited to see your reaction to the rest of it!
Yesss! Steven universe future! I can’t wait until 16 cuz that’s when Steven goes to therapy
We all know the real reason pearl wanted to go to the bathroom after seeing tht rose quartz 😏
the owl house sundays has a nice ring to it!
Idk if another show recommendation would be helpful or wanted, but RWBY is a personal favorite of mine. It has a big fandom that loves watching reactions and would welcome you with open arms. Not to mention that Rooster Teeth, the company that makes the show, is supportive of people posting reactions and would help clear up any issues you'd have.

“And Connie became a lo-fi girl”
It used to be in the script but it got changed. Trust me. It’s true.
Rip Greg's hair
I hope it made it to space so he can really be part of the universe
"babe, wake up. Krysta uploaded"
Greg maybe should have braided his hair into a tight lock. Maybe some colored strings and beads added in? Cuz i had a friend who got cancer, and she had her long her braided during treatment as a sort of charm. It had beads and all sorts of cool decorations
Funfair about bluebird: when she made steven a plate of food with seafood grass and peanut butter those foods are the most common food allergies for humans
A recommendation I have that you’d probably like is adventure time or regular show
Seeing Steven turning Pink is definitely his Dark Side Moment like Anakin in Star Wars Clone Wars
I like to think that Volleyball's eye got shattered from that time when Pink was bothering Yellow for her own colony, then out of anger, she either struck an actual mirror.. or her Pearl
i think volleyball directly confirmed it was her scream- she mentions it could shatter a room, or whatever the wording was.
@@zzeroara9511 ah you’re right!
Still bothers me that we just gloss over white diamond mind controlling pink pearl for 8000 years to focus on how awful pink is. They have such a weird grudge with her
Yeah that's cringe
You should watch the owl house next! It's so good
The first half of Steven universe future is very very good. It's always fun to Rewatch
#StevenUniverseFutureSundays it was a powerful journey of these 5 episodes and the reaction was amazing 😁 some parts might cause a brow raise moment but get you hooked. Also can we talk about the “chest” in Lion’s mane being open? It was closed during SU younger years and why is it open now? With that said, I dig Connie Easter egg being Lofi girl at episode 1. Seems cute and chill 😌
Pearl and Vollyball’s little crush on Pink would have been cute, except for the fact that they were her literal slaves. She took advantage of the fact that they liked her to get her way and apparently just threw them both away when she was done with them, leaving them both emotionally traumatized. That’s really sad:(
Everone in this show desperately needs therapy.
I like how we get a timeline of Pink’s character development through the people she hurt. We clearly see that Pink comes to regret the person she was and is constantly improving, the problem becomes that she’s so ashamed and secretive that it hurts her journey rather than helps it so she keeps making new mistakes and having to learn the hard way. She never truly confided in anyone and didn’t have the support network that Steven has who can tell him when he’s done wrong
The line “ how did you stop hurting, I didn’t” will forever make me cry
I just recently found your channel and every time I see you’ve uploaded a new video it honestly makes me smile.💓
Remember - no crying until the end!
Or, if you're anything like me when I first watched this, most of the way through too.
I love Steven Universe so much. I can't wait too see what you watch next. 👽💚
Omg you are onto Steven universe future I’m so sad but happy for you

Three more until we close the chapter on this show...
Y'all ready
love how ruby and aquamarine attacked steven but he tried to be friends with them (cause he's steven), but now they came back fused acting friendly, he's all "DA FACK, THEY CRAZY, THEY BITCHES WITH ME", like none of the other gems he's friends with ever tried to kill him too before being converted.
Yes, i hate the fact that he's right

Fun fact the voice of cherry quartz is the same as jasper :3
5:44 It’s funny because there actually is a pink Super Saiyan form called Super Saiyan Rosé.
That is true
