  • The Oklahoma City Thunder imagined Domantas Sabonis as a floor-stretching big. 5 years later, now representing the Sacramento Kings, the forward rarely takes a shot from outside the paint but has already participated twice in the NBA All-Star game with Indiana Pacers. How did this happen?
    In this video, BasketNews’ Augustas Suliauskas goes through Lithuanian’s NBA career, attempting to deconstruct how Sabonis became one of the most fun players to play with and which circumstances allowed Domas to show off his talents in Indiana.

    The only player in the NBA to average at least 20 points and 12 rebounds last season, Sabonis is also one of the best playmaking bigs in the league. He averaged a career-high 6.7 assists per game and was in the 84th percentile in offense including assists, per Synergy, ranking him right next to offensive masterminds like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Trae Young. An excellent finisher around the basket, Sabonis increased his 3-point volume last season with mixed results. If he improves in that area, he'll become one of the most complete offensive players in the NBA. -- Colin Ward-Henninger

    The Sacramento Kings have a good backcourt and Sabonis is a great big, plus they added Murray in the draft and they added Mike Brown who is a great, proven NBA head coach. I don't think this year will be a playoff year. The Kings have dug a really deep hole and with not many games let, it doesn't seem likely. Sabonis has quickly become a crowd favorite and in my opinion he is the best player on the Kings. Fox career will get better and easier with tremendous talent like Sabonis. The Kings finally have a GM that is GOOD AT HIS JOB and is very much qualified to do his job I think and hope next year the Sacramento Kings will be a team that all fan basis will say "You see 👀 them Kings" and hopefully it's because they are playing well and consistently well and are being recognized for success on the Cort and not disfunction like in the entire last decade +.

Both seem to have a high bball iq. Not sure how good they would be on defense, didnt see much on sabonis's defense in the video. Seriously, how tall is Sabonis the Younger? He was listed at 6’ 10” or 11” but now is a 7 footer. I googled it, and it says he’s 7+. He doesn’t seem that tall, but he’s a top player today (top 10?).

    • @lunacy5510
      @lunacy5510 Před rokem

      NBA has been inconsistent with listing heights recently. You are finding different heights because some are from the seasons measured with and some without the shoes. Sabonis is somewhere in between 6'10-6'11 or 7 (a bit of a stretch) with shoes. By NBA standards he isn't very big especially considering that wingspan plays even bigger role than height but he isn't small either. What he lacks in thing he can't control (height as a center and wingspan) he more than compensates by being one of the strongest players in the NBA as well as being extremely skilled which is why he easily leads the league in rebounding and is such a threat creating a shot for himself and others. He is definitely all NBA third team worthy.
