- Robert Downey Jr. is glad the Marvel and DC Comics divide didn't stop Christopher Nolan from asking him to be in his new movie Oppenheimer. The epic biographical thriller based on J. Robert Oppenheimer's life is out in cinemas on Friday July 21, 2023. Report by Jamie Burton.

While I’ll miss his Iron Man, I’m glad to see him do non-MCU roles. I also never thought I’d see him in a Christopher Nolan movie, I can’t wait to see him in Oppenheimer!

Say what you want about RDJ, but he is a very decent guy and I love his admiration and the praise that he gives Cillian. Can't wait to see this - I really hope that this launches Cillian into yet another league and gets even more credit and recognition from an even bigger audience.
Place your bets now, Murphy, Downey and Nolan will win the top three Oscars. Best Actor, Best actor in a supporting role and Best picture. Based on reviews so far, it seems to be a no brainer.

@@Nova-fh2et Yes Jim Carey has retired , plus I think Mr Nolan has gotten even better as a director and RDJ played Tony Stark , Stan Lee said Howard Stark was inspired by Howard Hughes , plus RDJ is brilliant .

@@Aspie_guy2975 I saw it , I didn't like it ,I would like to see Nolan's take on it , he wrote a script and it was for Jim Carey , Jim saying that he retired leaves the door open for RDJ , and it is perfect for RDJ , he knows what it is like being a brilliant man and at the same time a mad man that launched the MCU , he knows what it is like having that pressure on his back , it could be like a mix of the prestige and momento , flash back at his youth , building things that the world was not ready for . I think his take would be more unique.

"We've all known it for a long time, now the world's gonna know" RDJ saying this tells how great of an actor murphy is and now he has shown it, to the world.
A generous complement but it's not like he's been hiding his light under a bushel. Watch the "Peaky Blinders" period crime drama series and you'll see what I mean. It's a sort of Sopranos set in Birmingham around 1900.
@@DeclanMBrennan Yeah I watched "peaky Blinders" and the character was phenomenal to watch along the cast, exactly how few novels try to portray such characters but didn't found that many in mainstream drama. Also completely missed that it was same guy acting scarecrow cuzz that character got me real impressed but never looked into the actor itself.
Watched a few interview the guy's quite a down to earth low key type of a person and his irl calmness shows why he's a good in those roles.
this is so surreal to me. I'm so glad to see him in serious roles. First Nolan, next Park? insane. Two of the most prolific auteurs of modern cinema and he's just hoppin' in there. In a few decades, I wonder what he'll be remembered for the most.

It’s gonna be a breath of fresh air seeing him in a Nolan movie. zodiac was one of the last times he worked with one of the great big name directors and of course he knocked that character out of the park amazing performance as Paul Avery

Yeah right xD Says the same person who said that society must be matriarchy because all the women are good. Such a postmodern claim. I have nothing against RDJ acting skills, but actors and actresses are not the first source to go find philosophy stuff. Most of them, as Ricky Gervais said, didn’t finished school. Sadly todays society doesn’t read anymore Doestoevsky, Nietzsche, Carl Jung, Plato, etc.
RDJ is humble about playing a side character than a lead character
just went to the movies for Oppenheimer. It was PHENOMENAL !!!! Highly recommend it. 3 hour long, very thought-provoking and awareness-raising regarding nuclear potential of destroying Earth too. Hopefully Cillian Murphy will get an Oscar for this leading role, he was absolutely fantastic, as well as Christopher Nolan who ranks among the top-tier directors. I loved Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. Rami Malek was such a surprise too !! All top-tier actors for a BIG movie !!

He was in Doctor Dolittle in 2020 and he never said he left Marvel completely. He said he was happy to join team Nolan too. Downey Jr is an amazing actor and he should never be tied down to just one studio.
He probably sees Marvel as Disney.
Man I saw this film yesterday and it blew me away.. Cillian and RDJ stood out but the whole crew was perfectly cast, I even doubted Hartnet and he did a fine job, another classic from direct Chris, no artist can sa NO to him.. and RDJ did well in choosing to accept this movie, kudos 👏 💐 🥳 🎊

@@dariuschisholm7317rdj is kind of an action movie star with his charisma and playfulness. Nolan’s movies are mostly silent and less talkative which doesn’t extract full caliber of rdj. But here we are!

I just love how RDJ didn't acknowledge the pedantic comments of that journalist about his time playing Tony Stark. I'm so grateful for his MCU era. He was just the best part of it, as much as I enjoyed the concept as well. And I must say, Oppenheimer was a breath of fresh air for him after Dr.Dollitle. Still, my favorite movie of him is "Only you" with Marisa Tomei in 1994. That movie is underrated.

This performance in OPPENHEIMER by Robert Downey Jr. is absolutely FANTASTIC. The man is such a singular talent. It's great to see him doing some real drama acting again.

Man I was there, couldn't see him at all with all those dumb barriers in the way, those guys in the background had wristbands to be that close that they paid for, no idea how they got them, it was such a frustrating day standing there for hours and not managing to see him, but one day I will, I've tried multiple times whenever he is here, one day I will see him, maybe even meet him god willing.
