- After 4 years, this oven was so gross. The bottom of the oven was layered in thick baked on grease and oils. I was afraid that it wouldn't come clean.
But, using Easy Off Oven Cleaner, a razor, and Scrub Daddy Scouring pads worked a miracle!
Watch how I deep cleaned this oven, the easy way. And, it only took about an hour.

Thank for sharing. So kind of you thank. Got to clean my this week. I'm going do better by wiping it down after doing the dishes each day. Again thank you and your oven is beautiful job well done.
I was so afraid of cleaning my oven because I’ve never clean my oven and I’ve been using it for over 10 years. I thought it was gonna take me hours and hours but your video show me tips and tricks and reassured me that it would be easy. I appreciate your video. Helped me a lot in my oven is now clean.
Woo hoo!! I’m so happy to help. 😊
My oven looked like yours. It took me all day to clean it. I now put on my calender 3x during the year to clean oven.
Yep, it’s better to keep on top of it. I’m doing the same now. 😊
Here's an idea for maintaining a toxic-free clean oven without using Easy Off or other cleaning products: wipe down the entire kitchen essential with vinegar soon after baking. It's annoying people would leave the internal elements of their ovens caked with baked-on grease and spills for a long time.
Good idea with the plastic wrap and scraper. I would always wear gloves using Easy Off. You can turn on your oven fan if you have one, too. If your side walls and back are not too bad, I use a stiff spatula or rubber spatula because I have short arms - scrape off as much of that stuff as I can wiping on a paper towel before I rinse it. Just saves alot of time with the rinsing. Great video. I hate cleaning the oven.
Good tips. Easy Off Fume Free is actually safe to use without gloves. And, it doesn't have a strong smell or VOC's. So, you won't even need a fan. It's so much better than the original Easy Off.
Very thorough and some great tips. Thanks 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Works fantastically!
Nice!!!! So glad to hear it. 😊
Great pointers! Love that gorgeous Cat !
Thanks, she’s my baby!
You can un screw the fan and you can use oven liner at the bottom
Here's a precautionary measure to follow if planning on using Easy Off: wear gloves to avoid lye compromising your skin.
Easy off Fume Free doesn’t contain lye. It’s safe to use without gloves. The original IS NOT. 👍
@@AbbottsAtHomeI agree with others it's best to wear gloves. No big deal all due respect
Once I was done done with the easy off, I felt there was still a cleaning smell in the oven. A day later, I mixed equal parts water and white vinegar into a spray bottle and it neutralized the smell. I think it's all about trusting the process, your oven looked identical to how dirty was mine and I did the same I'd respray areas to get to the bottom of the gunk and it slowly started to work until it was all gone. I love your explanation and your time lapse, that this requires some elbow grease its not a magical poof gone type of job.
Thanks for sharing your experience. :)
Thank you so very much ❤😊
You are so welcome
I lay my oven racks on the grass overnight. The morning dew loosens all the greases and grime and they clean easy.
Sounds like an easy fix! Thanks for the tip.
Wonderful video
Thanks 🙏
No shame for not cleaning your oven! I've had mine 10 years, only cleaned it once. Not recently. Hence me showing up here, to figure out how to do it better (I struggled with baking soda & vinegar last time, worried about using chemicals... But now I'll try fume free easy off)
It’s so much easier!! Good luck.
Easy off damages the oven, use Pink Stuff
@@meriandimond5442 easy off worked like a dream and didn't damage the oven... But I did get a pretty gnarly chemical burn (with a scar months later now) from a very tiny hole in my glove. I will be more careful next time, but for an extremely dirty baked on grime oven, 100% easy off. I didn't have to scrub at ALL. It wiped away. Scrubbing with abrasives had previously left some scratches, but to be fair, I have never used the pink stuff for anything, so maybe it works just as well.
I'm any case, I would call that a twice a decade task, personally. I do plan to wipe the sides more frequently now too
@@juliab8992 I'll try easy off fume free
@@meriandimond5442isn't the correct name Pink Stuff? Good point! There's too many restrictions don't spray this, don't spray that.
Good job!
Thanks!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!!
Excellent!!!
Glad you like it!
Great tips!! I’m glad I found this!
Thanks!!
Oven liners are amazing to use for the bottom. They help alot
Thanks for the tip!
Can they be used on an electric stove the heating element appears it would get in the way
Your cat is an absolute stunner 😍
100% agree. 😊 She does too. 😂
I always keep a heavy duty oven liner on the base of my two ovens - keeps them immaculate, easy to wipe clean and they only cost about £3 from Aldi.
I really need to buy those too. Everyone seems to love them. Thanks for the tip!
Check your owners manual first. I have a KitchenAid gas range and those liners are not recommended for my model.
You can't cover the bottom of the stove with anything , your oven has the baking elemet covered , check you manual first @AbbottsAtHome
I've been renting my place around 20 years.
The stove was always here.
And who knows when it was cleaned before me living here.
I recently tried mixing a paste.
Using baking soda and vineger.
And only put it on the oven door.
I left it all night.
And the next day I tryed cleaning it.
It was not easy.
And very very messy.
And it only got about 30% of the greasy off.
So now it's time to try easy off.
Some people dont clean the entire house 😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵
SOS pads work well
Also heat your oven to 450 for 30 minutes empty after you have cleaned it to burn off any chemicals
There should be a little part you can lift on both arms that hold the door. Lift those, close the door (not fully) pull the door away. Now you can work on the glass on your couter top andd have easy access to your oven.
Good tip! I don’t really feel like I’m struggling to reach, it’s just awkward trying to stay out of the camera’s shot. But, if that oven was higher or lower, it’d be worth removing. 👍👍
You can also use a steamer. That works well also
I've been meaning to test my steamer all around the house. I'll have to try that next time. Thanks for the tip!
I'm exhausted just looking at this video... send help. Someone.
You can do it! It’s honestly, spray it on, cover, binge 3 hours on Netflix, then 20 minutes of cleaning. Easy!
Best to clean after use, waiting too long is just harder work to get it clean.
I’ve found that always cleaning inside the oven when I hand was my dishes really helps. 👍
I’ve found that always cleaning inside the oven when I hand was my dishes really helps. 👍
We have only been in this rental for 10 months and I was having nightmares about the oven. Luckily, I have help to do the end of lease deep clean which is so extensive, due to covid probably. Next rental, I will be using oven bags for everything. That will be interesting, a science experiment. You did well. I cant kneel so I will have to work out some other way to do the racks but thats ok. From Australia with thanks.
Yikes! I listen to an Australian podcast. It sounds like your landlord’s have too much power right now. Must be a pain. Good luck with your deep clean. 🤞
Grocery bags work just as good too..
Good tip, thanks!!
I got the easy off HEAVY DUTY, and even with a covid mask, fumes had me coughing and dizzy...yeah, fume free the way to go...but that easy off IS like magic. the paste i made with baking soda, water and vinegar does not begin to compare.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I hate using anything with a strong smell. It’ll keep me awake all night, if I can still smell it. Fume free is definitely the only oven cleaner I use. 😊
If you use this product the first thing you should do is put on a full length sleeved top and wear rubber gloves. If you have a mask available, use it. If not hold a hand towel or flannel against your face whilst spraying. This product is nasty and if you are not careful you’ll get residual aerosol spray irritation and redness on your forearms and hands as well as a sore throat from inhalation. Direct contact will leave burns to the skin. I now prefer a cleaning product you paint on and put the racks in a supplied large polythene bag with the solution, then leave oven and racks for some hours. Lakeland in UK sell it. Or pay local oven cleaners to come and do it.
You’re thinking of the original Easy Off. This is Easy Off Fume Free. It actually doesn’t have a strong smell. It’s safe to use without gloves, doesn’t irritate skin, or require a mask and goggles. This very is the only one I’ll use because it’s so much safer and easier. 👍
Thanks for the cleaning video! I was amazed recently when I used pomice stone (non toxic). Just took a small bowl of water & dipped the pomice stone in it. You must keep the stone wet. When I worked on the bottom of the oven I just poured some water in the bottom. Just purchased additional pomies (pomice stones) at Menards for $1.98 each. The one stone I had when I cleaned the oven- cleaned the bottom & door & some of the sides.
Great tip! I just want to point out that pumice can scratch glass. So, anyone reading this doesn't use it on the glass door. :)
You'll scratch up the inside of your oven with those stones and then dirt sticks a lot more to it. Gets dirty faster. Same for toilets, use those on toilets and you'll scratch the porcelain and it'll develop grime faster and more.
Thank you so much for this very helpful video! I wish you weren't beating yourself up about the oven not being cleaned in so long. Why do you think we're watching your video? Cause we haven't cleaned our own ovens in forever either! Lol
Thanks, friend! I actually don't feel that bad about it. But, I have to say that for all of the "super clean" people that like to comment on videos about how horrible you are for not having a pristine house 24/7. 😂😂
After you spray your oven, spray the racks and cut one side of the plastic bag & place them inside. They will much easier to clean too.
good tip, thanks!
I am tall. I take the door off to clean it so I don't kill my back.
Nice video.
Thanks, Dave!
Pretty kitty!
Thanks!
This still looks like a total pain.
Well, when your oven is as dirty as mine was, it will take some effort to clean. But, using that Easy Off made it so much easier than when I’ve just tried scrubbing that built off residue off (which never worked). 👍
Spray Nine is your best friend. Buy it by the gallon because you can use it on anything.
I’d never heard of it until your comment. But it gets great reviews. I’ll have to try it! Thanks for the tip!
I soak the oven racks in the laundry with dishwasher tablets half an hour at most and then just Wah wash it off using a soft scour lightly comes really clean without any effort so try it you will be very surprised easy effort
I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the tip!
I just tried cleaning my oven after making the Thanksgiving turkey last week using the self cleaning feature on my range. I regret it so much. I have all windows and doors opened and the house smells disgusting. I turned off the cleaning cycle just 20 minutes into it. I’m currently sitting outside on my porch in the cold because the house smells disgusting and the fumes are irritating my eyes.
Yep, I'm not a fan of those things. That's a bummer. 🤗
Beautiful cat.
Thanks!
Is oven cleaner recommended in your oven’s manual to use?
I ask bc I went against my oven’s instructions and used oven cleaner in my Aqua lift self cleaning oven and it absolutely ruined my oven.
I ended up buying a new oven:(
That’s a good tip. Sorry about your oven. What a pain!
Can you use a magic eraser sponge with easy off?
A razor will be quicker and easier, but you can always try a Magic Eraser with the Easy Off instead. I'm sure that textured sponge will help, but it might get clogged with gunky residue pretty quickly. :)
i accidentally sprayed it on the fan bc the spray was faulty. What do i do??? the screw is really weird so idk how to take it off. Do you think the oven/food will be fine if i just leave it like that?
there is no smoke or anything when i turn the oven on. But there is a smell
I’m guessing you can bake off the smell. But you might want to check the Easy Off product guide.
Clean racks on newspaper. Then just throw them away
Too many restrictions dont spray on heating element on electric oven. Wouid be too difficult not to. I used a paste of baking soda and water sat overnight worked well. Took some scouring.
Thanks for the tip! You can protect the heating elements by wrapping them in aluminum foil while you work. 👍
All that grease look so yummy, imagine spreading some on a french toast
How about the exposed element for broil function ? Can you spray it directly with easy off without damaging it ? Please help .
You can wrap the element with foil to protect it from the spray. Then clean the oven, wipe the cleaner off, rinse, then remove the foil. The elements can’t be cleaned. 👍
THANK YOU for mentioning that this is cat friendly!!! Always worried about those tiny delicate respiratory systems!
You’re welcome!
@@AbbottsAtHome what to do I sprayed even the top of the oven where there is the heating and even the fun . Hope I watch your video earlier
Does that mean that this chemical is going stay in my oven and can’t use it anymore as it is hard to wipe the fan and the heating
@@afnanshukri5693 Try to gently wash the cleaner off of the heating elements with warm dish soap and water. Be gentle. For the fan, you’ll have to remove the cover and clean that too. Be very careful around the electrics! Good luck .
My oven has heating elements on top and bottom. Do you think I could wrap the bottom heating element in foil to protect it from the cleaner?
Great idea!!! Just remember to remove it when you’re done. 😊
Yes. Yes I learn the hard way. They heated element had to be replace but I had a clean oven. Lol I'm going cover the heated element with aluminum foil
M.O.F Citric Acid Detergent Cleaning Powder for grease and bathrooms tubs with Boiling Hot Water it Works it proves it works product
I've lived in my house for 27 years and hain't never cleaned my oven, she still runs fine and gives her a certain amount of character. Besides with all of the wall to wall baked on 37 different kinds of mountain goat marinade, whatever I bake, it does wonders for the taste of burnt opossum 🧔♂️...🤣
Well, I wouldn’t mess with your secret to perfectly cooked opossum. 😊
@@AbbottsAtHome 🤣🤣🤣👍👍
I can only imagine how nice and clean your house and car is lol!
Do you heat oven to take Chemical smell away??
Or
Can you bake right away?
I'll either air it out for a couple hours or just heat up the oven for 15 minutes or so. Then let it cool down before using it. :)
I wonder if those chemicals she sprayed off the racks killed the grass???
Nope, they didn't. And, comments go straight to the video creator. 👍
Tip: Take the door off...it's super easy and makes cleaning inside so much easier!
Thanks for the tip. 👍
The fact that my wife says my convection oven is disgusting and it’s far cleaner than this , I’m ok . I’ll survive .
I'm glad to help...prove to your wife that it could be worse. ;)
Why not take the oven door off? Open a bit til it stays open, lift away.
Maybe next time. 👍
Your Siamese Cat is facisnated curious 🤔 😏 is it a male or female. I tried the product I live in Quebec City I purchased it at the Canadian Tire Store Thanks for publishing very satisfied.
So happy to help!! Fluffy is a 3 year old girl. She is always my little partner when I work around the house. She just follows me around supervising. :)
why can no one make a nonstick oven?
That would be nice!!!
@@AbbottsAtHome the claim is that nonstick would break down if ovens got to 500F!
I just spent two hours trying to clean my mini ovens with soda and vinegar. Got some burns clean...
Why not,do,self, clean? Then clean anything left over if at all
You can see why I don't like to use self-clean here: www.abbottsathome.com/using-easy-off-oven-cleaner/#h-is-it-better-to-use-oven-cleaner-or-self-clean
1:15 😂which was the first thing I did.
Next time Use Gloves!!! You mentioned this chemical can’t be inhaled so I suggest chemicals like that you should protect from your skin !!!
Calm down. This version of Easy Off is safe on skin. No gloves required. 👍
Ah... the look of a freshly cleaned oven, until the next chicken leg to be cooked and its a mess all over again
🤣🤣🤣
"super dirty" I don't think we understand what the term dirty means the same way.
LOL, I guess one persons "super dirty" is another persons "not bad". :)
Don't spray on a pilot light? Hopefully 🤞 everyone shut their gas off before cleaning their oven. You should wear gloves and open a window and you can leave it overnight. Finally someone who uses the product designed for the job. Where is your bucket of water? Use a wet rag from your bucket of water to wipe out your oven.
With Easy Off Fume Free you actually don't need to use gloves or open windows. It really doesn't have a strong smell. This product is so much easier to use than the older oven sprays.
No gloves? I thought this stuff would burn your skin badly. I guess it's milder than I thought.
This one specifically says you don’t need gloves. But, some others do. 👍
The spray I use doesn't affect the hands either but I need a musk because it makes me cough
You did good 👍 easy off regular is too fumed with toxic chemicals! I believe it’s what killed my mother . 1981
I can’t believe how many fumes we used to breathe in the 80’s and 90”s. I’m glad we have better choices now. 😊
Never use cleaning products without gloves maybe even without mask You dont know what that thing might do to your skin or to your lungs and eyes.
That cleaner is actually non-toxic and safe on skin. But, do whatever you feel you need to. 👍
@@AbbottsAtHome how does it clean if its not acidic or corrosive in some way ?
I'm glad I wore gloves. So much hot water rinsing, etc. My hands would have really dried out. And, yes: there are "things" in the Easy Off, even the non-toxic. But it's so much better than the super-toxic! I liked this video--inspiring.
the stinky Easy Off still works better , the only other way is to be a billionaire and replace the oven 6 times a year
If I had a billion dollars, I wouldn't even use my oven. My chef would handle that. ;)
@@AbbottsAtHome now what was i thinking !!
Good video, with helpful tips, but shouldn't you be wearing gloves?
You don’t have to wear gloves with this Fume Free Easy Off, but you generally do with most others. 👍
You really should be wearing rubber gloves doing this this stuff can eat your skin off
Like I explained in the video, this particular cleaner is safe on hands. No gloves required. 👍
Next time wear some gloves!🧤
You don’t need gloves with this specific cleaner. 👍
Gotcha! I was worried you might damage your fingerprints🙌
@@nestalicortez9082 I've never thought about that. I know a couple people that have basically lost their fingerprints. I wonder if it's from some chemical they used to use. Yikes!
Hey you never know, it might just be me I am a Virgo!
Have you ever used the self cleaning feature 😂😢. Use it on a regular basis and you won't ever have to do this. Wow
Nope, you can see all of the reasons why I don’t here www.abbottsathome.com/using-easy-off-oven-cleaner/
@@AbbottsAtHomeI tied using the self cleaning feature once and it freaked me out! I looked at all your reasons you don’t and I totally agree. So not something I would do on a regular basis. Thank you for all the helpful tips!
@@Girl-co6dd You're welcome!!
I’ve tried it a few times but my super sensitive and loud (female voice saying fire, fire!) smoke alarm went off every single time. Unfortunately, I can’t take out the smoke alarm batteries during the self-cleaning process because the system is hard wired. Such a pain in the a$$. I have to open the windows and run a fan near the oven to blow the cooking fumes away from the alarms when I use broiler. 😞
