I highly recommend Kotov's book "Think Like a Grandmaster". When I was playing tournament chess in the eighties and nineties, it more than any other book I studied improved my game immensely. It teaches how to actually think about your candidate moves and the trees of variations, and how to whittle away till you find the most likely continuation move at any point in the game.

I did pause and see the queen sac but only worked out a couple of moves after that. Nice game!

If it didn't take as many moves to force a resignation, the Queen sacrifice would be suitable for a chess tactics puzzle.

Kotov had to be ready for a long drawn out fight on the kingside. Brilliantly executed.

All that repetition! It felt like Ground Hog Day.

Good match, I remember he wrote in this book something like this. kotovism: when you think long and hard then make an obvious blunder move.

Mato, not sure if you're following TCEC season 18 superfinal between SF and LCzero. There's been some really incredible games like game 8 where SF gave up 2 pieces and still ended up winning.
