I've really been considering this laptop. I had a 2018 version m17. Wanted to try the Razer laptop. While the Razer laptop is ok. I'm definitely missing my Alienware.

You may want to consider that it is big and heavy, more like a portable desktop PC than a ultra portable laptop for people on the move. Also so much power means short battery life.

I just got one and I love it… but… I f*cking hate the command center. Why won’t my AlienFX and performance system presets work between games? Why do I have to manually change all the presets in the library instead of it just using the system preset? Why are they trying to force me to run every game in performance mode with differing color keyboard lights. Other than that major screw up it’s great.
How you think, is it possible to play and stream on on twitch on this laptop?

Nowhere to be seen CPU+GPU temperature under gaming, stress test, heavy workload and etc.
That's why I'm getting the one with the 4080 and Intel because from what I've researched the amd graphics cards overheat more, I'll let you know how mine turned out when I get it in a week.
Also a live stream of someone testing the m18 called gizmosliptech his m18 kept thermal throttling.

I have this laptop, but returned it for the Razer Blade 18 in Mercury White edition (The Alienware Command Center and not having G Sync both were deal breakers for me). This may slightly out perform the Razer 18 RTX 4080, but nothing noteworthy.
I have heard razer laptops have a lot of problems . How are you liking the Razerblade 18 is it really better than the alienware 18 ?

@@TankMAIN877 I got a Razerblade 17 just last month and first day of opening it it immediately had a stuck pixel. I did everything possible to try and remove the stuck pixel and ended up returning it because it was a very bright red in the middle of the screen and very noticeable. Also, I had some serious issues with the pre-installed drivers like the touchpad not working during setup and the audio drivers not working correctly. I still have my old Razerblade 15 from years ago and it still runs like a charm although it has aged considerably, but you need to watch out for some of the newer models because they tend to overheat and fail way too easily. I did end up getting this exact Alienware model M18 R2 with a 4080 and I like it a lot better than any other laptop I've ever owned. The only downfall of this laptop is the Alienware software itself as it is clunky and not as intuitive to use as Razer Synapse is, but I think I'd rather have good, durable hardware than bad software that can easily be replaceable.
I had this laptop for a week, i wanted to love it but every game i tried to run would crash. I had to return it. Unfortunately, i also tried a variant with a 4070 in it, and that had bad ports in the back and the OS ran sluggish....... might've just had 2 bad machines, i'm waiting for the R2 variant with intel i9 in it to show up at my local best buy and gonna give it another try.

Depends on which laptop. It's faster than many models that don't fully use the 4090 power limit.

Why is AMD so MIA in having discrete GPU's for laptops? I heard this unified GPU/CPU can only handle low graphics settings. I'm planning on getting a 7600XT GPU desktop but would prefer a 18" laptop if it had similar capabilities. Currently have a 14.5" Lonovo IdeaPad 3 laptop with a Radeon 5500U. This overpriced laptop is way over my budget and I don't trust Dell/Alienware.
