I'd like to think it's just a public event. Like, no Toad is hurt, Peach is fine, the goombas and koopas don't actually die or are hurt at all, it's all just a cool festival. After all, Peach and Bowser are both royalty, so it makes sense for them to host lavish parties together. Just slightly off screen, there is a cocktail bar and snacks.
Cloé is the real hero of this let's play, I can only imagine how many times she had to hear the toad voice to edit this.
Plus going through like 20hours of recording
and she cut out that previous failed run of RT going down the tree slide! How considerate! Really makes you think how much she went through
She also had to deal with Luigi’s shlong from Super Luigi Galaxy. I don’t think those jokes would be very comfortable for a woman.

I really like how you can see a lot of the features from 3d world begining to develop in this game
Yeah it's actually quite clear in retrospect! Things like the greenstars, the forced perspectives and smaller mechanics like the timed blocks and red/blue platforms all got their start here

Fun Fact: The world record for beating the game is just under 3 hours, while the record for collecting all 242 stars is slightly below 9 hours.

As someone who has this game's most memorable lines memorized it's absolutely wild seeing Lubba say "car park" instead of "parking lot" and see Bowser spell "center" as "centre"

TOAD VOICE IS A BLESSING
I was shiny hunting while listening to this and I got one nearly every time he did his toad voice- either the shiny Pokémon are attracted to toads voice or they came to me to hide in the Pokéball not to hear it anymore but either way I’ve got a few new shinies (not literally almost every time I only got 7 but still)

Idk how nobody mentioned this but the background for the spooky boo levels are legitimately terrifying because it's just cosmic horror, seeing the giant faces in the sky that never end and drift to what seems to be a giant white void. Imagine if you went outside and suddenly no matter where you looked in the sky, it was just filled with the souls of the damned in a near incomprehensible scale, it's a Lovecraft novel waiting to happen

I think the reason that this game’s plot isn’t directly related to SMG1 is because this isn’t the world of the first game. According to the first game’s lore the entire universe was recreated at the end of the game when the black hole was formed and eventually became a supernova because all of the Lumas flew into it. Because the entire universe was recreated it makes sense that none of the galaxies are the same as the first game’s. I could be completely wrong about this tho
Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what it is, Galaxy 2 is my favorite video game so I would definitely know this. It also makes sense when you see that some of the galaxies have similar concepts to the first game like the Fire/Ice theme that was also in the first one.

I was genuinely surprised to see that star bits were an issue while progressing. Back in the day I always had double or more than the required amount
Hypothesis: you died a lot more then Daniel, and since you didn’t lose your star bits, you kept collecting the same star bits over and over, meaning you’d end up with a lot more
Dans also not always the best at collecting starburst especially during transitions like when you're launched by one or the stars and suddenly are surrounded by starburst he often doesn't notice them
Other hypothesis : he had developped a gambling addiction and lost all his starbits everytime he played.

Yoshis are like turritopsis dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish. They reverse their lifecycle to prolong their lifespans. So the eggs are actually adult Yoshis that have returned to the egg stage, and then hatch again when Mario comes along.

It's specified in Super Mario World that Bowser stuffs Yoshis in eggs, plus there are a few instances in the series where we actually see what baby yoshis look like, so no.

Headcanon: this game does take place at least 100 years after the first galaxy game. They are still alive because of the time dilation from the constant exposure to the black holes. Bowser on the other hand, after dying in the center of the universe/giant black hole/the big bang got reset through time and is trying to reattempt his plan without the memory of doing it in the first place.
I love how the fucking Toad Voice warning is a nuclear klaxon.

I normally hate the toad voice but the addition of the siren has me rolling every time
I had this on in the background while I was grinding in Bloodborne, when he did toad voice I died instantly.
Worst part about toad voice is that he sounds like all the toads are about to have a stroke
This is one of the first ever games I played. I remember being stuck on the first level because I couldn’t figure out how the fuck I could defeat the baby piranha. I’ve beaten the game since and every time I hear each music piece, each sound effect, it’s like I’m transported back to that time of my life. It holds a very special place in my memories.

I played this with my brother. I believe pokèmon sapphire was my first but this game was the second I played with my brother (first one was super Mario galaxy) and it’s special to me too

Aside from having the best taste in hair style, Ludwig would've been the first in line of succession to take over after Bowser before that was written out. It's why he tends to be a bit more popular of the Koopa Kids.

As someone who has collected all the green stars(with very little help from a guide), you did well to avoid getting them all. It took me a week of playing for a few hours a day to get them all.

can we talk about how mario lived an entire century without ageing
I love how Galaxy 2 is either set one day after Galaxy 1 or literal centuries after Galaxy 1 given that one takes place on the eve of the star festival and the other is set during it. And the fact that Rosalina just kinds reset everything where everyone lived in the Mushroom Kingdom and everyone remembered everything from before the reset, but then Mario also meets the Lumas for the first time for the second time implies it’s been at least 100 years.
I like that the lumas just die at will without a single fear or concern
They are fulfilling their entire purpose, after all - they probably don't see it as death, it's just the next stage in their lives. The Lumas are essentially star children (aren't they called that at one point?). They all have to "grow up" and become stars, galaxies, comets etc. eventually

Question: Why does water get rid of the cloud power-up? Clouds ARE water.
It over saturates the clouds, causing them to turn into water
Water vapour that condenses on contact with the mass of cool liquid water.
