Protect Mr. Washington at all costs. He’s doing great things for his people and community.
1000000 procent same thought🎉
Praying for you Sir, and those working with you. Praying that the freedom and path up out of poverty continues in Little Rock and spreads to neighboring Louisiana.
Even if this documentary doesn't win an Oscar, it's already a winner for helping and inspiring people in need. Bravo.
Education, education, education. Also a positive mind set. If you're born in the ghetto and into poverty you grow up with that mentality. It's hard to break free of that mind set (I don't have anything, it's too hard, etc. etc.)
Oh yes
How exactly does this inspire someone? Why on earth would this even be nominated foe an award? On what grounds is it award worthy? I don't see it. I have seen 100s of CZcams documentaries better than this in terms of scope and production.
@@nakho3550Why would anybody try to explain anything to you when we can just go back to talking to each other about how inspired we are? 😂✌🏾
@@hestakingit inspired to do what? You are going to lend someone money in your neighborhood?
Barbers being some of the first entrepreneurs in the black community is something special and I hope this inspiring film takes the award .
Me too. It gets my vote. The Best for a varieof real reasons🎉🏆💜
If Kat William's interview can get 50 million views, then this should get just as many. Spread the word about this film.
I am 💜
This inspires the remnant. The game changers are always a remnant. 50 views do not want to change anything. I pray that this helps me to do more.
This should get a lot more views than Kat Williams. Unfortunately many people don't like uplifting, informative videos like this as much as they like gossip and negativity.
Just shared it to my instagram!! This needs to be spread!!
So true!
Thank you Mr. Washington for showing us that this is possible. Your mother would be so incredibly proud of you.
What is possible? Charity?
@@nakho3550loans≠charity that's pretty basic
Yes she IS ❤
It was an honor working on this Film with John and Arlo as well as cast and crew Arlo is an amazing individual. Blessed🙏🏽
I'm half way through and I have heard the word reparations yet. How can one mention the wealth gap without mentioning reparations for American Descendants of Slaves?
This is what the American Dream really is: bringing prosperity not only to yourself but those around you. You are fighting for the rights, abilities, and livelihoods of your fellow community and also your country, and it is truly a noble cause if there ever was one. You are not only bringing light into the world but actively recruiting others and training others to do the same. Mr. Washington, you're correct in saying that it is just getting started. Thank you so much for spreading awareness and educating us all on these various problems in a hopeful and instructive way. Also, congratulations on the Oscar Nomination! It's such an impressive achievement and a notable milestone in spreading awareness:)

🏆BEST FILM
Congratulations on your progress, and the nomination ❤🎉🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 YAH Bless you.
MOST PATRIOTIC DOCUMENTARY EVER!
Now this is what giving back to your community looks like. 👏🏽 . Congratulations on your much deserved oscar nomination 👏🏽
If only we could spend 2 minutes looking into each other’s eyes with love and compassion, maybe this world wouldn’t be in such a cold, hard mess.
I'm in a homeless shelter in the Bronx, & this documentary inspired me to wanna help, thank you for that.
You are in a homeless shelter and you want to help? 😂 You need help buddy.
@nakho3550 ypu miserable Peice of Dog Sheeet..YOU NEED HELP...
@@nakho3550this is completely rude and disrespectful what are you doing to help people you’re just making fun of someone whose trying to
This has to be one of the most thought-provoking documentaries I’ve seen in a long time.
For Us By Us
Real life
not all superheroes wear capes! Mr Washington is an inspiration...
Bravo Mr. Washington! You are a huge inspiration for all of us who seek justice in this world.
These services should be available in every community and there's no excuse for such an incredibly wealthy country to allow poverty to be soooooo pervasive
As far as I'm concerned this brother and this documentary are winners already!!!!!💪🏾🏆
This is the path in 2024 for the Black community!
The 2 minutes of looking each other in the eyes brought me to tears. That was powerful 😢
Looking past people happens in wealthy neighborhoods and in working class poor ones. Seeing people deeply means seeing their pain and THEN by bring some compassion, joy, and love where there wasn't any, you change the world for the better. Well done Arlo and for the team that made this short. Great post!
Same. I had tears running down my face. Beautiful. Great film-I hope it wins an Oscar but it's already a winner, IMO.
me too
I'm a professor & teach about economic/racial injustice. My students will be watching this documentary the first day of the classes I teach,.
This film spoke to my heart. As a black person who has worked in mainstream banking for several years I have seen the injustice occur so many times. Refreshing to see black economic empowerment happening at the grassroot level for black people by black people.✊🏾👏🏾
Thank you, Mr. Washingon, for bringing economic wealth to LR underserved communities and helping people achieve their dreams.
Mr. Washington has taken up the cause his mother started! I really hope People's Trust is able to do more larger loans for more automotive! More for businesses and they can help a community thrive like never before! You have inspired many!!
This BIG. This brother is the men we had in the 60s
Arlo Washinton, you are amazing. The private sector needs to step up financially to empower more Mr. Washingtons in communities around the country.
Beautiful film. The world needs more people like Arlo Washington!!
Love how Mr. Washington continues his mother’s dream. His efforts and achievements are amazing.♥️
It only takes 1 to light the fire…May this flame continue to spread ♥️🖤💚
The lost of your mother 2 weeks before your high school graduation broke my heart.😢 I would be more than lost 😞 May bless you for your kindness and care.
This should be a blueprint of how we treat respect and think of each other. Nobody knows what we have gone through or go through better than us. When we stand together and believe in ourselves and our brothers and sisters, allowing for errors and mistakes, we all get stronger together.
I spent my college years in Little Rock, and although I graduated 11 years ago, this city still holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for highlighting the beautiful people working to make Little Rock better.
This is the neighborhood and city I grew up in! It’s so important to share the journey of the people who deserve and are worthy of the same opportunities as everyone else! I loved watching this! Keep improving and impacting our communities Mr. Washington…THANK YOU! 🏁🖤
💙
Yes!! Yes!!
Mr. Arlo Washington. 21st Century Hero.
Your Mom would be so proud!
Bravo. The struggle continues but there is hope. Thank you The Barber of Little Rock.🙏🏽
This gets me so excited. These neighborhoods like Rose City in NLR need to be uplifted and for so long I was worried that the only way that would ever happen would be through gentrification, which would have such a negative effect on the culture and character of those neighborhoods. Mr. Washington and businesses like his give me real hope for the future of these neighborhoods that have, for so long, desperately needed this sort of TLC.
"strength for this journey"...what an inspiring story...love this!!!
Congratulations Mr Washington. I hadn’t heard about you before this but got feeling your mission will grow exponentially! Thank you for caring!
Excellent documentary!!! It does not need Oscar approval to be a winner❤💯 Thank you!!
I’d love Mr. Washington to start training seminars for people who want to replicate what he has done. It would be so beautiful to see these lending institutions that are changing lives all over this country. Yeah we’re going
I agree!!!
Another brilliant documentary. This is the second one I saw the other is, The Last Repair Shop. Gems of humanity.
Both very brilliant documentaries
Deeply moving and heroic! Nothing is taken for granted., but compassion, creating spaces where love and justice prevail...That's worth more than anything. I LOVED this documentary!
Perfectly said and whoever taught you this is brilliant. I luv to see black young men knowing about economic wealth
Excellent film! Thank you Mr. Washington for being a true inspiration and for all that you’re doing for the community.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
“This is about being FREE!” 👏🏾 Powerful documentary and truly inspiring!
If we don't help each other, no one will. This documentary is very inspiring and uplifting. The Oscar nomination is well deserved, and hoping for the win, for this exceptional piece of journalism.🙏🏾❤❤
Born and raised in Arkansas and currently living in Texas. I needed to see this today. Thank you so much, and congratulations on the Oscar nomination.
Thank you Arlo. Bless you brother.
Thank you, Mr. Arlo
Best thing I've seen for the black community. Thanks for caring
We are so Godly proud of you. We join the fight! 🙏🏾❤️
Amazing story and major salute to Mr. Washington and his desire and passion to help others and his community. When we invest in ourselves and others their is no limit to the power we can achieve. Wishing him continued blessings and success. 💚🖤❤️
This is how you build a community ❤.
A pure example of being a lender and not a borrower and teaching others how to do it as well.
Perfect!!! I can see this company becoming a nationwide company and helping billions! You got this my brother much love and continuous abundance to you and your family
Yes, you got this!!!
Arlo, we wish you continued success in all your endeavors.
This brought tears😢😢😢❤❤❤
“This is about freedom”. The brother near the end understood the success but also understood how some would see this as a threat. Be mindful of those who prey and benefit off of you captivity.
Love you, Mr. Washington. I wish more people would have the courage to do what you have done to make this great nation a place where freedom rings for all.
Many Hugs,
Krista
Amazing!! What a blessing to the community! Rebirth!
Congratulations on the thought provoking documentary and the impact Arlo and team are making in their community. I hope we can one day eliminate the plague of poverty that our country faces.
Best news I’ve had in a long time. Thank you Mr Washington
This documentary is inspiring, moving, and so so human. It's always up to the community to help the community. I wish more small businesses could thrive and assist the community like you do. This is incredible.
"This is about being free"! WOW, amazing doc!!! Long live to Mr. Washington and his team!!
I’m grateful for this film that introduced you to the rest of us. Thank you for your commitment & example.
Kudos to you Sir, you are truly a vessel! The ripples of hope you are creating in the vast ocean of disparity will definitely change the trajectory of so many families generationally!!!
This is beautifully executed. Thank you Mr. Washington for selflessly giving to our community. Please keep it up.
Tears of joy...mr.washington I'm supporting you forever
Thank you for shining a light on what's really going on and the changes that need to happen, to make it and us better. Your mother is proud of you and so are we! Congratulations on your Oscar nomination!

Outstanding ❤️ 💯💢💥💥🙌👏👏👏 every black person should see this!!! .. we can do better and help ourselves obtain economic justice ⚖️
Every white person should also see this! Many whites do not understand BLM and underestimate systemic racism
Inspiring and thought provoking. Thank you to all involved behind and in front of the camera, and thank you New Yorker Magazine for making this documentary available on a free to the public platform.
So moved and inspired by Mr. Washington! 26:50 he talks about community development and you see the passion in his eyes, he’s not only investing time and resources to help lead his community to a better place, he’s the soul of that community! What an evolved human! If only we had more selfless people like Mr. Washington in all of our communities inspiring and leading by example…..
🖤🖤🖤
He said what he said and we ain't looking back.
Fear Who? Nobody. Let's Go.
🖤🖤🖤
Excellent documentary and thank you to people like Mr. Washington who look out for their community. Education and opportunity are the foundation to upward mobility and the building of wealth for all people.
I felt the comments that those with power would notice what he was accomplishing and try to end it. It’s what I feared through out the film.
Hallelujah, I pray supernatural blessings upon you and your progrram:)
Thank you for telling this story. I had never heard of a CDFI. It would be wonderful if this became more widely available. You can see what a difference Mr. Washington is making. I hope it wins the Oscar so more people will learn about this effort.
This really shows what the challenges are, and how they can be addressed. Mr. Washington is an inspiration. I wonder if he can set up training and mentoring so others can set up similar empowerment banks in other communities. Bravo!
I’m proud of him. Thank you so very much for caring and showing up. ❤
Awesomeness Mr Arlo Washington ❤❤If this world had more of u.
Representing the 501!
Just watched through an online screening and Q&A. Thid film is so important. Arlo Washington is a hero.
Congratulations Mr. Washington 🎉
Thank you my brother for going above and beyond.
Loud and proud, and that's no nonsense.
I live in the capital of Canada. I am white and am retiring at the end of April as a Director of Finance for a 500-room hotel.
So many Canadian retirees spend 5 months in Florida every winter.
This film was so inspiring I wonder how I could contribute to a black community in the southern US during my retirement by volunteering in some way.
Please do. Thx you! 💟
give money!
What a powerful message in these 35 minutes. Thank you. ❤
Bravo to all who contributed to this documentary!
