- 20 Minutes of planespotting from the Hourly Parking Deck at Charlotte Douglas Int'l Airport on the morning of June 2, 2024!
This particular day of planespotting was my first real test run with using my new Sony A7iii Mirrorless Camera and my Sigma 100-400MM Sony E Mount lens for pictures and videos at the airport! Overall a very successful day with crossing several new aircraft off my spotting list such as the American Airlines "Allegheny Heritage" Livery A321 and the American Airlines "One World" Livery 777 as well as taking note of what I still needed to work on (stabilization being one of them)!
The main reason why I was actually at the airport on this day was to visit the new "Sullenberger Aviation Museum" which just had their grand opening on June 1 after being closed since October 2019 and renamed from the former "Carolina's Aviation Museum!"
The new Sullenberger Aviation Museum is most definitely worth the visit for visitors get the chance to see the very own US Airways A320 Flight 1549 "Miracle on the Hudson" with special effects synced with a short documentary on the flight! The museum also features over 25 other aircraft with interactive experiences and detailed history about every aviation topic as well as a new overlook area to watch 18L arrivals and 36R departures (as shown at the end of this video)! Very nice I was just here and did some videos with my AX53 I like the Hourly Parking Deck slightly better than the new observation deck at the airport I also went to the Sullenberger Aviation Museum aswell and definitely was a blast!
It’s a shame this airport doesn’t get lots of widebodies

I suggest checking out the overlook it’s in between 2 runways with the soon to be 4th runway basically right along it
Where did you get that view?
Most of these videos were taken at the hourly parking deck and the clips at the end of the video were taken at the new overlook area by the Sullenberger Aviation Museum. I’ve been to the new overlook a few times but at the moment it’s only good for 18R arrivals. It’ll be nice once they remove the large dirt hill so there can be a full 360° view of the airport and once the new runway is finished!

I like going to the garage lined up with the 18l approach path if i want planes going overhead but it makes it harder to get good photos or general shots of the livery
I like the cargo area too, specifically the ups parking lot
