    go back around march 10th or later and they will likely be there. water temp isnt the deciding factor. its hours of daylight.. when the hours of daylight become equal to or slightly more than darkness, the crappie recieve a biological trigger.. sunlight is whats important for eggs to develop.not water temp.. crappie spawn on almost frozen lakes in canada every year... . this is written in thier DNA.. Just because we badly want them to be where we want them to be, doesnt mean they will be there. we try to make the case that when the water temp gets to a certain degree, they must be there,,, we just havent founnd the exact right area... then we think, well they are coming early in the morning, or evening,, we just keep trying to convince ourselves that dammit, the water temp says they should be here, they have to be here.,,.,.but they are NOT there..

      @lostviking540 Před 5 měsíci +4

      Sir, you are absolutely correct. Length of day is the trigger for crappie spawn.

    • @randy1ization
      @randy1ization Před 5 měsíci

      @@lostviking540 yes, the water temp myth has been repeated to ad nausium, but you can tell people the facts until hell freezes over, and they just refuse to believe it.. same with depth that they spawn.,. MANY crappie spawn as deep as 21 feet, but people will fish 20 miles of bankline, and cannot find them, then they make excuse after excuse why the crappie are not there... water clarity and UV light intensity has alot to do with how deep they spawn..in spawn START deep, then work your way shallow... but 90 percent of anglers, go right to the bank and spend all day beating the banks and usually dont find them... ive seen many of the OG old timers on tv, repeating the same myth abt water temp, and it seems to have become so engrained in peoples minds, they just cannot seem to question it,,, its also a fact that the bigger crappie do not spawn in shallow water near banklines on most fisheries.. with the sheer number of crappie on most lakes, just about every bankline you would go to would have crappie on them..

      @@bradmcclendon4597 yes, since evinrude/johnson went out of business, companies have been price gouging for parts... evinrude kill switch is 111.00 .. that is crazy.. and evidently not too well made, being mine is bad... also do you find alot of the coil and trigger wires delaminating thier insulation on the stator plate? my wires were toast and I had to solder in new wires... I dont know if you know abt this hack to remove the flywheel.. you loosen the fly wheel nut abt 1/2 way, then wrap a thin rope around the flywheel so the weight of the motor is hanging from the flywheel.. then you get a small block of wood, and tap the flywheel nut with a heavy mallet.. the flywhelel will pop right off every time with the gravity doing most of the work .. with no risk of damage.. you just have to be careful and not unscrew the flywheel nut too much as to damage the threads before you whack it with a mallet..

    Thank you for posting this video. This is EXACTLY what 90% of my fishing outings are like..... search search search search.... and not find anything! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't find them easily. Most videos look like they pull up to a stump and find a limit on the first one.

      I really try to be transparent on days like this. A lot don't want to show the bad days but this is the reality of it. Especially me being a guide, this is the time of year most want to go but it is the worst time of year for me for consistency. April will get more consistent

      That’s why it’s called fishing brother and not catching…. Unless you live on or in the water 90% of everyone’s trips will be that way( 90 might be high but I get the point)…. I completely agree though… even the fishing shows I watched growing up weren’t honest. They would cut tape and show 22 minutes of Bill Dance with a bent rod or lipping a bass that he kissed and threw back, it is refreshing for an informative fisherman that shows the way it really is

    Your dedication is appreciated! Thanks for posting the days when you do not get on them cuz it's tough this time of the year. I spend more time out on the main lake scouting new areas and marking places to fish in April/May. Thanks for the candor bro!

    I grew up fishing the spawn but it was a love/hate way of fishing for me. Now days I just Bass fish until the Crappie move away from the banks. I have had waaaay to many days like you just had trying to catch spawners. It sure is fun when you can find them though.

    They push out from the creeks during cold fronts thats why they didnt bite good. Gotta hit them deep Main Lake bridges with at least 30-40 feet of water they'll stack up nice there while feeding on shad.

    small tip. whenever you fishing a creek like that too where the water is low even in the middle, fish creek ledges and those isolated trees sticking straight up an down that extend out from the bank. I had that problem 2 days ago for about an hour straight, they where staging towards the middle feeding until the sun started to set

    First time I found them on fallen timber was by complete accident lol ! I was in a spring bass tournament and using a 4” slider worm on a brewer jighead when I pitched it into a log and bang a 14” white crappie grabbed it! Pitched it in again same damn thing ! A giant crappie! Came back the next day and caught 12 that were giants and great eaters! I call em pie plates!
