    Been bending nails since 1982 .. Never been into carrying more than I need .. Whatever I am doing that day determines what goes in my belt .. I get a kick of some of these young bucks , That have a 200 lb toolbelts with every tool Home Depot sells .. One pouch for a table saw and another for a compressor and sledgehammer .. The more weight you carry is more wear and tear on the body .. Carrying 5 lbs more and climbing a ladder all day translates into tons of force .. I like a lightweight pouch .. All I carry is a " Measuring Device " a straight claw waffle headed finger tenderizer . A calculator ,, maybe a chalk line ,A speed triangle and a razor knife .. I am a lead and I rely on the other scaffold monkey's to have a line or a chisel .. A pencil is always wedged in my ear canal . When I see many with shiny belts made from rich Corinthian leather .I say .. Oh Hell .. " New Belt Alert" .

    I work in industrial construction where we form foundation and piers for concrete. I use a set of occidental bag: the big oxys. I carry fasteners, tape, chalk line, cats paw, speed square, spade bits and concrete bits on the left. On the right I carry two pencils, torpedo level, marker, calculator, crescent wrench, knife, plumb bob, string line, and drill bits.

    I am in my 50s and mostly do repair work or vinyl siding. I use oxy lights but reversed the bags because I am a lefty. On the left I carry a 30' tape, two utility knives (one for coil stock the other for whatever), a keel with a crayon multiple pencils, straight tin snips on the leather hammer loop, compass and a punch tool for placing aluminum nails in odd places, and a Tajima chalk box in blue. When I frame I carry a red Tajima to correct any wrong lines. I keep a 1" chisel and a zip tool. I have a Hart 16 oz for vinyl and trim work and my 20 oz Douglas for framing. The right side is fasteners and a speed square. I used to carry everything but the kitchen sink but as I get older I go lighter!

    My tool belt was the 808 oxylight framer set. Green, someone stole from the site I am on here in Vancouver; now my other tool belt Kunys leather belt is what I use it is Kuny's Deluxe Component Carpenter Apron. 💔😪💔 it is nice. Someone enjoying the occidental free of charge. The diamond back tool belt is the rolls Royce of tool belts. I would say try a estwing 12" nail bar with the blue grip. The grip is nice, +plus, its super good for pivoting walls. 👍
    One other thing. This video, my wife will see. So maybe a future gift. 😊

    Hi Matt, I watch your videos quite a bit, I’m a carpenter in the Bay Area. I bought my diamond back set based on this video and I love them. My setup is fairly similar oddly enough. The few tweaks I made is I keep a 6” combo square in the mini pocket for small measurements and transferring small reveals, I got the magnetic tape cover to keep my bits in my bag/ and can rotate a few. Also I got the flatbar/cats paw holster which works great. As for the suspenders the best one I’ve found for breathability and and durability are the occidental nylon straps they are awesome.

    I am a custom/finish contractor and build cabinets, vanities, islands, custom tables, getting into doors next!
    I love the Buckaroo because it’s real “Leather” and like diamond I set it up!
    Their suspenders are the best! (Never mind the color deal) and now I hear Occidental has a Trim Carpenter belt set up ? And a lot of guys are switching to it?
    Do one on the new occidental trim carpenter belt set up?????
    Ok young man keep up the good work! Stay in shape and one day you can still be swinging a hammer and building at 61. !

      I would love to explain it on here! Main reason is it’s special order as of right now, it’s not readily available. If it was, I’d be happy to try it out..
      One thing I don’t like, is if I do the framing, and I’m responsible for taping.. The siding contractor does a botched job and it leaks, I now have a chance at being blamed.. I’d have to rewrite my contracts if using it.
      I’m intrigued by it! I’d like to use it.

    Wow I can not believe you gave away a Martinez square. Hope it was for a good reason. They are coming out with a mini square soon. I bought the Diamondback Denali framers belt because someone was selling it for $300 new on eBay. The suspenders were too expensive so I bought a $10 vented pair from Menards and they do not get that hot. I have a Deluge hammer as well, Dewalt tape and knife, love the Milwaukee chalk line $8 at Depot. I have a dead on cats paw and added a Bosch laser measuring device. Pencil I use the Swanson always sharp with Swanson square. I have a small Stabila level. Sometimes I put in my Milwaukee impact driver for lags. I also can carry the Hitachi cordless framing nailer. Love the Makita cordless saw as well.

    • @milanroets9697
      @milanroets9697 Před 4 lety

      Randy Velasquez he has the artisan. The Denali is bigger because it has more pockets. Which sounds good but they are narrow and hard to get items out. Plus the bag at the end you really need to reach for, almost need longs arms to use it. I got a deal with $180 off on eBay so I bought that one. Yet if I would recommend one I would go for the Grande. Less bags but they are way bigger and easier to get tools and fasteners in and out of. R&R renovators, which also has a CZcams channel, made a video because he developed the product. Badger also makes a really good belt too.

      OMG no way, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can’t even express how thankful I would be and how excited I am to hear from you. As a young builder yourself, there is no greater inspirational thing to me than watching you build away and Bang away. I am fascinated and inspired by you it shows just how much you can do when u put your mind to it and hussle. I recently built a outdoor storage shed after being so anxious to frame from watching all your videos. It came out surprisingly nice however I had some obstacles in the middle. The biggest being the tools necessary to build that I didnt own. I ended up having to pay one of my neighbors $200 to get access to his tool collection for the building of my shed and when I was done with them I had to clean all of them and return it perfectly. My parents were very angry about this but unfortunately I had no other choice as I couldn’t afford all the tools necessary. Probably the worst part about it though was that while I was cutting the sheathing( that I got from my old boss ) the advantech was too thick and heavy that it knocked over his table saw and damaged it. Leaving me to pay $100 for it to be repaired and serviced. After such a terrible experience with the shed build my parents basically swore to me that I would never build anything again until I get enough money to pay for all the tools and materials by myself. So u can understand how excited and anxious I am to revive tools that are not only an amazing gift but a gift from my biggest building inspiration. Feel free to email me @ brachifeder@gmail.com I’d love to speak with you

      I am closer to Matt’s age, but a form based guy. Let me tell you, neither of us started with this stuff. You don’t need it but it makes it nice. If you make an apprentices wage I’d look into getting yourself good power tools.
