I think VICE should re-upload this so a lot more people will see it. This deserves so many more views.
They should re-upload now so everyone can see they did great work at one time
Well especially now considering Taliban now holds all of Afghanistan.
Yup
Taliban defeated Invader America.
if you wanna see Satan just see America.
the propaganda machine of SATAN is America
Western media will not tell how many people killed by Americans from native Americans to , Hiroshima and Nagasaki from Vietnam to iraq and Afghanistan?
10:46 The most British request for an airstrike in history.
it´s as satirical as the entire video
seriously
just missed in time for tea then woulda been perfect
I came to make this exact comment "that would be lovely, ova"
Was perfection, sums up the sarcastic, black humour and just Britishness exactly
The Brit’s have a humble outlook towards the world
15 years later and mainstream media is telling the world that the Coalition did not see this coming. Convincing...
The mainstream media isn't saying that at all, stop lying.
@@matt.willoughby Pfff, yes they have been. Maybe now they are not because the fallout has set in, but when Coalition and US forces were pulling out in 2014 (something nobody seems to remember), halfway the same scenario started happening. PBs were being emptied of ANP and ANA personnel, their commanders and inventory were disappearing, misconduct was spiraling out of control, even stations and bases were being dismantled and sold out for parts, insider attacks were on the rise etc... because they were being perpetrated by deserters and ANA and ANP operations were practically halted because of all this and more.
"If you could put air on that it would be lovely, over." Haha, love that accent.
British accent, humour, sarcasm, irony and dark humour. Fantastic stuff
@@samdasilva1914 It's an English accent not british lol
The captain calling in that air strike is Captain Patrick Hennessy, he wrote a fabulous book called the “Junior Officers Reading Club” it details a lot of this tour and is an excellent piece of military literature, worth a read.
@@samdasilva1914 you have fôoood

Remember when Vice used to be a legitimate news source with mostly unbiased reporters? Great times. Miss this kind of reporting
SeanDon_ 28 And CNN during the first Iraq war. Damn I was so impressed with their embedded reporters and their willingness to go in and give the world the coverage! CNN is now a low class tabloid.
Pepperidge farm remembers
Stop bitching vice is much much bigger now so just filter out the ones u feel are biased and watch the ones the tickle your fancy
@Rico Imagine why, instead of just getting angry at those comments. Vice had real balls and soul back then.
They still have some damn brave people, like those who went to the frontlines in syria and iraq to film the fall of isis.
But they've become a bit biased instead of doing neutral journalism and it annoys the hell outta me.
@@Litepaw did u watch their recent video on the darfur conflict, azerbaijian conflict, iraq-isis conflict, south sudan oil exploitation... etc. I agree its worse than before but they still release great things on actual world conflicts with neutrality, you just need to cherry pick which videos to watch.
During ww2 they used to say
"When the Germans bomb we take cover, when we bomb the Germans take cover and when the Americans bomb everybody takes cover"
Legendary
the americans are second only to the israelis for coming up with excuses for bombing stuff they weren't supposed to
In the WWII, americans missed the factories in Ostrava and bombed the historical city center of my town, Brno. They thought that they are on Austrian soil. The only problem is that Brno is 60km north from the Austria and Ostrava is another 150km north-east from Brno.
@@pierreemerickalprazolam i heard this quote in some other documentary and it was implied with light hearted humour.
I thought it was quite satirical so I borrowed it. I should have said.
I have no idea who was the biggest culprits of ww2 bombing. I can say that I'm pretty sure that atrocities were committed by Axis & allied sides.
The part to keep in mind is If you are on the ground when the bombs fall It's quite insignificant in the scale of your situation who is dropping them.
i watched this back in 2012
boy oh boy here we are back again
“This guy lives for firing his RPG”
lol
Jamshed incarnate.
It's funny hearing them talk about the futility of the Western powers' "Exit strategy", 10 years ago.
Came to say the same thing. Watching this in 2021 is ... interesting.
"Funny" .. .
Yeah this crazy I watched this years ago knowing the us couldn’t defeat the taliban or isis . But they gotta do what they gotta do .
"Exit strategy".....Monty Python style....Run away....Run Away....
@@MrChadonne US could have but they didnt had the real political will after 2-3 years and when they had in 2001 they were very high on the opium of their supremacy.
Excellent sound quality, must be some expensive ass mics.
Even some of the worst mics can sound decent with good mixing and better mastering :) Post processing is a beautiful thing.
Alot of it is just having a decent cardoid mic with the right gain at the right time/good AGC. No clipping but also picking up talking
2:00 "when these guys can stand up and provide security on their own we can leave"
😬
Well - Saigon 2: Electric Boogaloo is here so......
"It's all fun and games so.." most badass war quote I've ever heard.
I've been watching Afghanistan/Iraq war documentaries. I'd have to say the UK soldiers execute sarcasm on a whole different level. Cheers lads, stay safe!
@Duner250R yessir. Great story. Great group of guys. 👊👊👊
We are all sarcastic in the uk 😂😂
And Afghan soldier lied about having six friendly casualties just to get us ambushed!
Vice is just awesome! I love the fact that they show people really how life is in some parts of the World and that they are so real. So far I've seen all the Toxic episodes and the other ones based on actuality. I hope they keep up with the good work and that they will post more episodes soon!!!
Ben: seems like quite a chaotic start
Dead serious British soldiers: this is fucking squared away
I love how the British speak to the Helicopter: That would be "lovely", lol. I don't see US soldiers being that poetic...
Polo Player Amen to that!
@@dr.questionaccount7379 how?
@@dr.questionaccount7379 us soldiers are more arrogant
@@dr.questionaccount7379 Do you mind explaining how?
well that may change soon now that attack helicopters can join
"being engaged by RPG and small arms from kilo...if you could put air on there that would be lovely" The most polite air support request ever heard.
That incomming fire at the end made me jump. I was a U.S. marine for 4 years. Somethings you never get used to.
This video aged really well. Stunning report.
Damn. VICE NEWS used to be so respectable. They lost it so bad.
"it's all fun and games"
Kariuki Ke I was about to comment on that, guess I'll add a time. 18:52
+Kariuki Ke or when he asks for air support and says that'll be lovely or something likethat lol
Read this just as he said it.
I Wana hear the story about how Johnny Knoxville apparently had to save him from from a fight?!?!
Sam Rexroat that's what I thought.where TF was he
@@paulieheydrich9772 "Hi I'm Johnny Knoxville welcome to Jackass, this is 'Taking Point'"
this stuff is amazing!
"It's all fun and games." Holy shit the brittish army is amazing.
I love the huge piles of poppy straw all over the place. A great piece by Vice, you can learn more about the war from these two videos than you would from a year's worth of cable news coverage of Afghanistan.
That’s because our news doesn’t go to the source lol they report on stuff thousands of miles away these men risk their lives for the true story and we need more like this
no
fun fact, these are grenadier guards. If you've ever visited london and seen "those funny soldiers with the red tunics and tall fluffy hats" it may have been these guys
Hell yeah Vice news has some great stuff. Very educational and entertaining.
People on Twitter : "You Monster, you deserve to die" at the slightest accidental trigger
Soldier at 18:56 : "But you know, it´s all fun and games" while describing possibly being killed by allied support fire
accidentally
Ahhhh old vice you are a treasure
"How many RPG's do we need?"
"Yes."
gem of a video
when VICE was good.
back when vice had actual journalists
Watching this after US and Brits leaved Afghanistan so sad for that Soldiers that put a lot of efforts in that war.
Sadly even when this video was taken..it was clear ...very clear that the afghan army wouldnt stand a chance.
I think Non British may misunderstand "it's all fun and games..."
Because the rest of the quote is
"... until someone looses an eye"
Its a common saying adults will tell children to warn them against dangerous play. He is acknowledging the risks they are all taking. But he also says it in a way that he has accepted that these risks are just part of the job.
Loses*
Yes thank you we all understood that. You brits are painfully obvious.
Thanks for the info, Chumlee
8:21- (listening to the taliban) "what are they saying?"
"that they are getting ready to attack"
"where?"
"here"
"do we know own where they are?"
"no"
that look on Bens face....😕
Sad to see this a decade later pulled out
Who else is here revisiting these docs now that the taliban is on a full send warpath? 🤚🏼
Where the hell is "Obama's war"? That's like _the_ piece of the entire conflict. I'm getting paranoid that it's lost media by this point.
What was it about and tell me if you find it
the vice i love.
Thank you Ben and vice for showing people the unbiased truth
The side that makes the least amount of mistakes wins.
This is the most accurate bit of film on Afghanistan and what Coalition Forces have to do/go through that was produced by Media source I've yet seen! I love VICE News now
5:40 they refuse to wear the uniform so they can be identified by the Taliban when they are paid for information. Mandatory uniforms would have seriously helped this situation.
Imagine being told causally they’re about to attack
“If you could put air on that it would be lovely”
*Chopper proceeds to bomb friendlies* 🤦♂️
Britainsthan
You know that? Were you there?
Yeh he's soooo not there
If Vice stayed doing content like this- they would never have gone bankrupt
Lol, I love the attitudes of the British soldiers. So nonchalant and aware of the futility of the task at hand
miss this vice
Go Ben Andersson!
Ben is legend
steady as she goes
I love Vice
This Aged Really Well.
Damn straight!
Ben Anderson lad why you with vice man, I mean I enjoy vice docs, but Ben your a cut above.. Vice docs equal fairly interesting not very poignant and above all hipster targeted docs, Ben Anderson's docs equal food for thought.
holy shit that was amazing so far. how does this not have more views?
"Very bright colours" and "they are a very visual army" im no expert but that doesnt sound like a good thing
so true, wish people would realize this
We need to have more videos of the war for our children
The British are very polite while killing... hahaha. Lovely over...
you don't us brits do you there ruthless
Stfu fuck English. From Ireland
Arsene Who? Well said lad
"lately afghanistan has been in the news"
1:50 I like how ten years ago they're talking about ANA being the "exit strategy".
Yeah, like no one could see this coming from a mile away.
13 years and not much has changed
Omggggg this is vice 9 years ago
Ben Anderson is a beast
Ben Anderson probably wondered why he joined the Vice pre school. He made this before he joined Vice so I don't know how Ben wins from joining them.
targeting a youngins with his style and freedom to do what he wants.
Can't have an army without discipline.
16:42 my man
haha the poster in the beginning "metal in baghad"
He's made some good doc's Ben Anderson
I.love your vids
9:06 old Bollywood music 😂
Wow
I was shock to
BMA
They are not Taliban Muslim so they listen music....
Gotta love the Britt soldiers. "all fun and games" WTF? lol
No wonder they lost so quickly
Wow this is a older episode
LOL I KNOW RIGHT
Except the fact that in Vietnam there were firefights everyday, minimal supplies, minimal ammo, and the enemy would hide in underground tunnels.
When VICE still had balls to goes real journalism!
"It's all fun and games."
The fuck it is! I've been there, done that and that, ladies and gentlemen, is not a game.
Sad to see that now
2:42 is that the former ASM Glenn Haughton?
11:35 It's funny that they take cover behind a wall of poppy plants xD
Concealment is cover normally if you can't be seen you can't be shot
I like how the Ana guy has like 10 RPGs
Waiting for "Inside Afghanistan under Taliban Rule 2021"
Watching this again in 2021. It says October 2011, but it's a re-upload as I can find clips uploaded in 2009. Does anyone know when it was first published?
Good luck 🤞
2007
In the documentary the a.n.a actually have uniform and look somewhat respectable and organized but I recently watched one from 2014 from when we (the u.s) were pulling out and they had completely fallen apart in a matter of what 3 years it just looks to me like they've given up they just got care
the documentry the reporter done was called 'our war' on bbc three its good give it a watch
Deja vu on the "Exit strategy." 😂
Haha thanks. I'm from the West coast. Southern California to be specific. :)
Wow, this is fucking awesome.
This war is so messed up
the footage of the firefight is so unreal. its weird how even that looks completely casual when people do it every day. banality of war indeed
I love how the real battle is very very different from video any fps shooter games, in real battle you mostly shoot at nothing because no one want to expose themselves easily. And when you actually see them hundreds of bullets you fired missed the target because of the recoils.
@ 7:00 the soldier is talking about an ambush happening when everyone leaves. This new device called the SpotterRF M600 "in all weather conditions regardless of visibility, The android tablet and 2 radars provides more than 150 acres and 90 degrees of wide area intrusion detection." = no ambush. Sets up in 3 min.
Joe Rogan anyone?
ye
Brennan what episode
They mentioned DMZ, not DMT.
British Soldier: "Aye, That's Prince Harry's Apache up there!"
ANA Officer: "WTF are the British doing!? I've got headache! Their Apache is shooting down on us in compound killing 6 of my men!"
Prince Harry:
Can anybody provide a link to a different documentary from Ben Anderson. Its more based on Jack. Its called Jack A Soldiers Story. I cant find any links?
If that was the worst that reporter has seen is dust covered children it just shows how sanitized he is.
