- We've waited a long time to be able to harvest this "Rainbow" colored corn! It's like Christmas opening each ear of corn and not knowing what color variation you're going to get! This was so much fun to plant this year, and we look forward to planting more next year (hopefully with more knowledge about growing corn). I encourage you to give glass gem corn a try in your garden as well, I think you will really enjoy it!

that corn looks great. one of the qualities of glass gem corn is that the ears are smaller, but there are more of them than most corn.
Before you introduced Blake, I knew right off the bat he was one of your relatives by his looks and his beautiful peaceful and intelligent spirit, Alex. You must have a beautiful family and I can tell you all love each other very much. I wish Jacob would show more of his family.

FYI moving water is typically scary for puppies, even water dogs. If you can find a nice pond with shallow entry it is a great way to teach pups water. I tie a favorite toy to rope and wade with pup gradually getting them to go after the toy. I stay in shallow water first but typically they will swim in a session or two. Of course my pups are water dogs so it is probably faster. Moses is a sweetheart 🐾💕

When your corn is coming up in the spring you need to hit it HARD with nitrogen. At around 2ft. tall spray it with 30% . It will rocket up. Knee high by Fourth of July is no longer appropriate by then it should b head high. Corn depletes nitrogen and that’s why corn farmers rotate with soybeans to replenish the fields. I’ve never had okra, I’m in farm country iowa. You two are by far the cutest couple on the tube your luv for that new pup comes thru.. Your brother is a cutie also, thanks for helping your sis.

A friend of mine showed me to cut the Okra stem long and then hold it by the stem to dip the Okra in egg & coating then drop in hot oil. When Cooked you can use the stem to hold on to, to snack on. Mmmm good !!!!

I've always called that kind of corn, ornamental corn because everyone here, ( N.Y. ) hangs it up in the fall season as a decoration. One year I hung a bunch on the outside of my front door, it looked very festive! A few days later,I went out and looked at the hanging corn, and all the kernels were gone!?!? Only the naked cobs and the leaves were left! The only thing I could think of was a squirrel jumped from my porch railing, hung onto the corn and ate it all!! Not even one kernel on the ground, must have been storing it away for the winter somewhere!! Never hung anymore corn on my door again! Moses is a beautiful dog. He'll be a great guardian for the animals. Hopefully, he'll want to spend more time with the animals than with the family in the future. You guys, in my opinion, are one of the nicest couples on the homesteading channels that I watch. You definitely have a Higher Power on your side. Moses was definitely homed with the right people! And Moses will definitely be spending more time with the animals than with us. He’s just so small right now, we can’t just let him roam at night by himself, he may get picked off by a predator. Also, we’re spending a lot of time with him now because he doesn’t have a mom to train him to be around the animals, so that’s our job to make sure he’s socialized well with them.

Nice decorations by self in groups of 3 or so hanging on a door instead of a wreath or with pumpkins and gourds for fall. Could draw mice mayby if not stored right. Idk. I bet the animals enjoyed the corn stocks. Blake come around more often, it was nice to see you.

And you can find them fried almost like a potato chip real salty, love it. I'd like to see you film picking the okra, if you don't mind. I've never had that variety of corn before. BTW CALICHE in AZ looks like sandy dirt, but the minerals are so hard, shovels, react like you're digging hard concrete, even small ditch witches find it difficult to dig thru.
Some places it mixes with gravel.
Wash board roads in the desert sometimes happens when hard rains carry sand across the road creating a washboard, very bumpy dirt road. Thats what I was told as a kid.

I live in Tucson, AZ. I have grown the small yellow, orange & red peppers 🌶 from seeds I collected from them. Planted in potting soil oin a flower pot. I also had cherry 🍒 tomato plant in a flower pot. Brought them in & outside when too hot or cold. Grew them year around for years.

Gypsum also added to the soil helps soften the clay. Got some at Lowe’s 5 years ago to start a new year landing area with sand. It helped a lot, used it generously
