It amazing how similar the Arkham series and Nolan trilogy are from eachother.
Arkham Asylum/Begins- Both were pleasant surprises and gave us the best superhero game and best superhero reboot
Arkham City/Dark Knight- Considered the pinnacles of their series, and one of the best games and action movies of the past decade
ArkhamKnight/Dark Knight Rises- The 3rd and final entries, which had so much high expectations. While solid, both did not meet expectations.

From what I understand of the twist, it's the worst of both worlds.
If you're familiar with the mythos of Batman, you will know who the Arkham Knight is about five seconds after he gets introduced. Thus, the twist has no impact.
If you're not, you will not have a clue in hell who he is, even after the Arkham Knight is unmasked. Thus, the twist has no impact.

Don't forget Kingdom Hearts! Was it REALLY necessary to reveal the name of Disney's King and keeping him in the shadows only at the end of the game??? Yet... the game is awesome.

@@comaster2 That one was actually due to legal issues. For whatever reason, Disney specifically asked Square not to directly feature Mickey in the first game, hence why he never appears until the ending cutscene and even then, he is still partly obscured.

I wasn’t looking forward to Joker making a return but if he was going to come back this was the best way they could’ve done that. It brought some levity and “companionship” too. I never got tired of climbing some tall building only to find Joker waiting for me at the top nonchalantly. I liked it a lot.

Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes.
The Batmobile is not bad until you get to the Cloudburst fight and the stretch following that. (Looking at the Drill tank and Riddler's last track is frustrating.) I absolutely couldn't stand the Batmobile anymore after that.
As for Batman himself, he feels great. But it is really hard multi tasking between all of the goons. It's pretty frustrating as well.
All in all, Arkham City remains my favorite.
Story was kind of blah as well. I thought the Arkham Knight would never go down. All he does is taunt you. I get it, you know all about Batman quit reminding me.

I don't like who the Arkham Knight turned out to be either. I was hoping it would be a new villain what I would of done was have the Arkham Knight be Hugo Strange's son (either a legitimate son or a clone who got awakened after Protocol 11 was activated). And because of Hugo Strange's old ties with the League of Assassins his son goes to train with the same people that trained Batman. Hugo Strange's son wants revenge on the Batman for not saving his father. So we got a guy with knowledge of who the Batman is,an IQ as high Hugo Strange's,and has the same training Batman has had. That would been better in my opinion.
Obvious Arkham Knight is obvious. The only reason I'm not spoiling it is because there will be a few people who don't know who him right off the bat.

Jay M There were a lot of fan theories that would have been more better about the identity of the Knight. Then again, as games continue, its bound that something would be fail or not be as good, with Arkham Knight, its the story. As for the Batmobile: It is the thing that will either make you love the game or hate it. I loved the battle mode, though I can imagine for some it was a terrible idea. What did you think of the car?
By far this is my favorite Batman Arkham game, at least if Arkham Universe doesn’t happen then we’ll see
Honestly my biggest problem with the twist is it isn't quite earned. I loved it in the sense that I know all about the characters, and I truly believed Rocksteady when they said he was a new character. So while I kept thinking of you know who, I kept also turning that possibility down. It allowed me to experience that twist the way comic readers got to when the original story was told. But the in game universe, doesn't earn it. We didn't grow to love him in the previous games, and we didn't experience his death. Therefore as far as the in game universe twist, it kind of relies on you knowing who it is and having read several comic stories featuring that character.
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this. The "Lucius!? Answer to Batman!" always gets me

Arkham Asylum - Great Story, great gameplay and a great job showing Batman games can be awesome 9/10
Arkham City - Epic Story, refined gameplay and a magnificent soundtrack make this my favorite of the series 10/10
Arkham Origins - Retaining the original formula with a good story Origins is a good prequel game 8/10

So, yes to this entire review. I thank you for being a REAL review unlike other reviews I've seen. I've seen other reviews. Some people reviewed the game before even finishing it. They missed some of the overall issues of the game and outright ignored them. This game was good, but it was still a disappointment.
The Batmoblie kicks ass and is my favorite part of this game. Not to mention that this game is WAY more open to what you can do in Gotham City.

For me, I'm mixed on Arkham Knight as a whole. There were things I liked (gameplay, graphical presentation, voice direction, batmobile (driving segments), Scarecrow's appearance, costumes and a few bits of DLC), things I didn't like (story, Arkham Knight's identity, relying on Joker for the upmtenth time, Joker never shutting up (I still love you, Mark Hamil), the other villains once again being an afterthought, annoying or padded out side quests that don't offer but so much, the fact that you have to get EVERYTHING done to get the true ending (yes there's a true ending), and the Batmobile Tank Battle segments), and...it all just came out as being a mixed bag. I in no way think this is a bad game, but...ultimately, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't live up to what I was hoping for. Scarecrow is a fantastic villain and that shows here! It would have been fantastic! But...after that coffee shop scene with the demonic creatures and the cop, that's...kind of where Scarecrow's presence starts to fall into obscurity and once again Joker becomes a central focus. We didn't NEED him here. I can understand exactly how people feel; especially, right after Arkham Origins did the exact same thing.
Now, I can't say this was the weakest entry in the series, but it does come close. For what was to be the most epic Batman game, it...doesn't quite feel as epic as many had hoped; myself included.
I was watching projared thinking he was taking a while for Johnny to upload the game and then I see that it was uploaded 16 minutes ago. So I left that video and straight to this one I love these videos. Keep it up Johnny 👍👍👍

I totally respect your opinion. Me personally though this game was amazing. I can understand why fans don't like the Arkham knight identity, but you have gotta admit, it was executed very well. I can agree that the batmobile was a little overused, in the tank sections and that boss battles were a dud, but overall you get a great personal story of batman fears coming back from the past, excellent gameplay, and the most difficult yet satisfying game yet. The last thirty minutes of main story, I was at the edge of my seat. Definitely my pick for goty this year!

Actually when you fully upgrade the Grapple Hook, when you use it you can actually glide faster then driving around in the Bat-mobile, especially because of the fact you're gliding over roof tops.

You Really Glanced Over Major Story Events Like The Cloudburst. And Reviewing Cool New Gadgets.
Gotta say, after replaying Arkham Knight a few times, with the most recent one being a week ago, I have no idea where Johnny is coming from when he says it's the weakest entry with a lackluster story.
If I were to guess, it would be how non “important” most of the villains felt when the game came out, compared to the pre release promotional material. Azrael, was a leaving a huge cliffhanger in the side mission of Arkham City, but turns out to be a series fights against mooks the player has fought before. Hush feeling like an after thought with the dev team thinking, “Uh guys we forgot about the Hush subplot in Arkham City. Let’s just make him an interactive cutscene side quest.” At least that’s what I think, it has been too long since I first played it Day 1 that I can’t remember my full opinion on the game.
Arkham Night was Okay. I wish it could have been better.

This might just be because I haven't played the other three games myself (having only seen the BSC playthroughs of the other two main games), but I honestly consider this to be the best game of the series.
First off, the graphics are a lot more interesting to look at, and not just because of the system jump. It just has a more appealing color scheme overall.
Second, the combat feels fun. Sure, it can get annoying at points, but that seems to be the case for the other games. Plus, the gadgets in this game seem more fun to use in said combat.
Third, I actually felt really invested in the story, despite not being a Batman fan. I have the knowledge of some of his stuff, but it's mostly mainstream stuff. And the version I'm most familiar with is the one from the Lego Movie.
Fourth, the Batmobile just feels great to use. I honestly don't mind the repetitiveness, since destroying the tanks is very satisfying.
I also feel the need to defend some of the choices made:
The frequency of using the Batmobile: While I feel that there's still quite a chunk of the game that doesn't involve the BM, I understand the decision. After all, this is the only game in the series where using it made sense, so naturally they'd want to show it off as much as possible.
The Riddler stuff: Sure, collecting the trophies might get annoying, and the races DO get more difficult as you progress through them, but I think that was intentional. Because if getting to the Riddler was easy, beating him up wouldn't be NEARLY as satisfying.
The Deathstroke "fight": While I haven't played Origins, nor seen any footage of it, I DO know that there's a fight against him at one point. And I also know that it's supposed to be a prequel to the rest of the series.
The way I see it, that fight in this game was made the way it is to avoid cries of "It's the same, so it sucks". Plus, this game involves an older, more experienced Batman, so it would make sense that, once they're out of the tanks, Batman could take Deathstroke out in one hit.
Needing 100% to get the "true" ending: Considering that this is the final game as far as Rocksteady is concerned, it would make sense that they'd want to end it with a bang. And what better way to do that than by having Batman lock up or incapacitate all of his major villains.

I have since played the games through the Return to Arkham remakes since I had made that comment and Origins through other means, and I still hold the opinion that Knight is the best of the games

+5carecrow94 Glitches vary by copy, actually. You can't really tell if the Xbox One or PS4 version is glitchier than the other without some wide spread test.
I had a copy of Arkham City on PS3 where you couldn't get past the menu screen. Got it swapped for another copy and didn't have any glitches.

I love the rain inside the office glitch. xD
I was luckily able to get the Premium edition half off a few days ago on PS Store. Best $19.99 ever spent.
But in honesty, I love how the game was made. Even though the Joker did came back I didn't feel he was centered all that much. Yeah there were big moments during the Harley invasion, but the Joker actually made Batman feel more protective about everyone. Sure the Joker got a bit annoying cause he says things that really ruins the mood, but in the end he still plays a perfect fit. Continuing about the game itself, the tank battles weren't as bad considering I like the destruction and feeling like a badass, but those cobra tank parts doesn't deserve any credibility. The game gave a good creepy/scary feeling in a couple parts that made it enjoyable. In the end, Arkham Knight was, in my opinion, a great Batman game that should rival City.
I agree. It's probably because I played the game after hearing about all the criticisms, but I ended up liking the game a lot more than I probably should've. I share similar feelings about the Joker and tanks ( fuck the Cobra Units). My only issue was with the Arkham Knight's reveal and the lack of hand to hand boss battles. It's currently tied with City and Asylum.
I agree. While yes, The game isnt the best, I love it just for how dark it gets and Im not gonna lie, Both the fate of Joker and the ending are really sad.

My biggest gripe about this game is probably an issue that already existed since the first one but severely amplified here and it's the on-foot combat controls and camera. The increased variety of enemies makes it more apparent just how sluggish the controls are and the constantly moving camera is downright disorienting. At some points, two enemies from opposite directions triggered the camera switch mechanic at the same time because of their charge attack so the camera kept swerving left and right for a full three seconds. It was horrible.

It's a perfectly fine game but, for the big epic finale of the Arkham Series, I think this game is a big letdown. The plot is predictable as hell (though the Joker's moments were the best thing about it IMO) and the gameplay is just fine for Batman but the drones battles with the Batmobile, while fun the first few times, become so fucking boring by the end of the game...and that's from someone who loves to blow shit up in video games.
We're do I begin with this game..
- Arkham Knight was not only a poorly written character, but also a whiny crybaby.- No Boss Battles- Repetitive ass side missions which have no connection with anything else that's going on- Jokers inclusion in the game as beyond forced- Marathon of Tank battles- Convoluted ending- bland and short DLCs
I was so hyped for this game, I was a fan of these games since the start, and to have it end on such a letdown, makes me feel as if I wasted my time...

I had predicted the Arkham Knight's identity before the game was released. I mean, seriously, there's only so many people in the Bat Family (tm). Not to mention, the Robin in Arkham City is Tim Drake, and since Nightwing is present, that meant that, yes, at some point Jason DID happen. At the very least Rocksteady managed to do more with him than DC can say they have. /eyeroll
Actually the big problem with games like these are the misconception of "bigger is better". Bigger world, bigger enemy variety, bigger move set, more gameplay styles. That doesn't always work. Bigger and bigger worlds sort of hurt the Arkham series. All the extra shit in the Arkham games gets tiring in Knight. If they were going to make the world bigger they should have had a better variety of side-quests. That's what makes most RPGs and open world games work. Not to mention I find myself agreeing with Johnny on how the Tank battles were not needed, and how there are a little too many enemy types. Keeping so many things in mind at once can get frustrating at times.
I remember when they were promoting this they, one of the more interesting things they'd talk about is how the Arkham Knight is an original character. He's a brand new Batman villain. Sounds cool right? No, no it's not, especially when it's revealed who he is. Original character my ass. Also, for god sake, change Harley's voice. She sounds more like an annoying teenage than a grown adult woman. I could get why they gave her the voice for the first two games, but here her voice doesn't match her design.
Origins had a fun storyline, some nice designs, cinematic scenes, and I really enjoyed some of the boss fights. I wish Arkham Knight had took some of their ideas with the boss fights. That Bane one where you're running and hiding is heart-racing.
Oh my gosh the rain in the office was the best part!!
