    Friend of mine she bought a 96 Suburban K2500 3/4 ton she has been driving it around for 3 years with no AC all because of this. I found the 50 amp blower fan fuse was burned out. I replaced it fan works now but AC compressor doesn't turn on relay is good. We noticed the lights don't turn on just like you described in the video for recirc, and AC. We got replacement for $142 on amazon and fixed it. Thanks for making this video.

    I drive a 1996.. after obd2 I am assuming it is the so called improved one. I swapped to LED (t5) lights near 350k miles and 23 years old.. just for something fun to do. Never failed, always works perfect. I mention lights, as heat will kill any electric. LED coolsit down, drops the amp usage to 8 times less. the door buzzer was so annoying to me, I swapped it for a 99 camaro...plugs right in.

    Yeah, i used the pc board part number not the delco number and got the oem part for $60. Some people advertise NOS for $700. The reason why there are issues is because the rheostats are worn or gummed up. No way around it with humidity and dirt. The new and improved version makes a weird noise.

    It's the "dash bezel", not front fascia, that's on your house. Doubt the problem is in the fan switch, more likely in the air direction control or a air door servo which is not part of that panel.
    On Chevy's and really, any vehicle, do yourself a favor and turn these kinds of control knobs slowly......unless tearing apart your dash sounds like fun.

    @SonOfNone Před rokem +2

    My 98 GMC Yukon already has one of the "New" panels [based on how compact it is compared to the old].
    One of the issues of late is that the fan control dial sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I removed the control panel and upon inspection noticed that the brown wire port on the harness leading to the fan control was deformed/melted.
    After cleaning it well enough to test the connection and make sure it wasn't shorting, I turned the fan on to med-low [two clicks clockwise] which did work now, and noticed the fan control harness and wiring was getting quite warm. Not to the point of being unsafe or too hot to touch, but I only ran it for perhaps 60-90 seconds.
    I'm curious if this issue is unique to me or not. I'll leave my last observation that the wiring gauge does not appear thinner than the wiring on your new control unit- they appear rather identical, at least as far as I can tell.
    For now, I intend to replace the wiring on the fan control harness and perhaps the harness itself.

      Also inspect loaded buddy springs x2 or whatever they're called to be in between the air door motor (lower driver side of core/duct housing) and goes vertically up in a V system to the upper blend door hinge rods. When ac is off it won't trigger outside air door to shut, the switch has a function to be used whether fan is on or off. Try holding the switch down for five seconds as well with key on engine running and all ac switches off.

    For some reason, I can't PM you from my phone or maybe CZcams got rid of PM's without me knowing. I have a 1995 Chevrolet K1500 Suburban LS 5.7L. I REALLY like your videos so far and I'm having many of the same issues. I just purchased and received the A/C control panel today from Amazon, after watching your vid. I truly thought that it was an under the hood issue. I purchased this as a toy and have done a lot of work, including a 6" Bilstein lift and 35's. I'm interested in bouncing some ideas off of you. Anyway, please let me know if there is another way to contact you. Thanks.

    • @1RoadGarage
      @1RoadGarage  Před 8 lety

      +Patriot4TheTree I'm not quite sure how to do that either... Yes, I'd love to bounce some stuff off you too! One thing that's bugging the heck out of me with my rig is this ticking noise coming from the motor. It follows the rpm's and load on the motor so I'm pretty sure it's a mechanical thing. I've done some googling and seem to have come up with a pushrod adjustment. I've even seen some vids on CZcams showing people making this adjustment while the motor is running with valve cover off. I've only got 53k original miles on this thing so I don't think it's anything detrimental. Do you know anything about this sort of issue?
      Glad to hear you bought the a/c control panel. Mine is working like a champ. The only thing it didn't fix is the outside air blowing in through the foot vent while driving and everything is off. I had this same issue with my '96 Sierra and eventually manually shut the door that allowed outside air in. Is this a stock setting or is there an issue there?
      Talk soon...

    • @Patriot4TheTree
      @Patriot4TheTree Před 8 lety

      +1 Road I haven't had an issue with ticking and mine has 135k on the original motor. The only noise I'm currently hearing is a gravelly rattle at an idle, but I think I need to tighten my header bolts. The manifold use to make a much worse noise.
      As far as the air dam, I'm not sure about that either. I do have the same problem but I was hoping that this control panel would fix that. I did notice on Amazon, that an actuator was commonly sold with the control panel. I wonder if that is necessary as well, to close that dam.
      I had cooling issues for a while, and eventually changed the radiator out for a Spectre and put an Edelbrock water pump in.
      I also changed the air filter. I took all of that big plastic crap out (which freed up a lot of room, which is cool because I will eventually put another battery in there), and now have one of those old school K&N stack style filters.
      Your interior door handles and locks will go up on you, if they haven't already. I had the two front handles actually snap off. I've replaced all of mine, but they are a fairly easy fix. I didn't reapply rivets though.
      I'm in the northeast and my largest issue by far, has been combating rust underneath. I've replaced all of the brake lines, and the fuel filter being rusted solid to the front and rear lines, has caused me to purchase but not yet replace an entire fuel delivery system including the tank up to the throttle body. I also have less torque off of a stop like you mentioned in your tune up video, and I'm hoping that getting this original fuel filter off will help that.
      The awesome thing about this truck, even though I purchased it with the expectation of sinking money into it, is that parts for this thing are cheap. Even upgraded parts are cheap.

    • @1RoadGarage
      @1RoadGarage  Před 8 lety

      +Patriot4TheTree Totally agree about the cheap parts!! I'm curious about that actuator now. Yes, I've had a door handle snap off on my previous '96 Sierra. I bought a cheap rivet gun and did do the rivets... I was wanting to swap out the massive metal and plastic intake bit i'm such a 'stock-look' guy. I'd have to replace it all with something very stock looking. I do like the look of the K&N cold air intakes though.
      Here's a question, at freeway speeds I'm getting a vibration that seems pretty much like an out of balance wheel but what's weird is it'll be there for about 15 mins then just go away for a little bit then come back. I'm trying not to think too deeply into and am pretty certain it's just a rebalancing issue. Any thoughts? When I recently changed out my front pads and rotors I tried moving each if the wheels around to check for play but they seemed tight as a drum... Peace bro
