Probably one of the few comedies I went to see at the theater in which the audience was laughing so hard, people were having difficulty breathing they were that hysterical! Especially with Burgess Merideth's one-liners- he reminded me of a neighbor I had growing up- beer drinking, chain smoking, cussin' old grampa type who didn't take shit off nobody! He would take me fishing out in his boat on the river near our house, when he wasn't out fishing he would sit under the awning next to his garage with an old black and white TV (this was in the late 70's) watching the afternoon soaps- drinking beer and smoking. He passed away around 84-85' when I was in middle school, but man, when I watch this movie I think of him, haha:-)!
There is something about a senior. Their a wealth of knowledge and if you take the time to sit and listen they will teach you everything you need to know about life in a couple of stories🔮🎭📖 .
@@retrocat8465 I think it helps that we've all known a couple guys like these. For me it was a group of fellas down at the tavern....they would sit there and cut each other down, play cards, go on fishing trips together. They were some real characters, and were fun to know through my dad because he was in the local VFW with them.
I love the Grumpy Old Men movies. The 2 Grumpy Old Men movies have a certain, lovely, warm charm to them. For example, I love how the scenery of the state of Minnesota is practically a co-star. In Grumpy Old Men we get to see how nice Minnesota looks with all that snow and ice. And in Grumpier Old Men we get to see what it looks like underneath all that snow and ice. Just beautiful. The small hometown feel also really adds to the charm. Makes one want to move there to live and hopefully have Max, John, Pop, and Ariel (and all the others) as neighbors.
Wished they made one more! Said had plans but some of the other films they did turned off WB from doing. Apparently had an actor ready to play Max's wife's ex husband but he died before plans were made. Then Walter dies in 2000 and Lemmon year later
this a the greatest and the most funniest movie i ever saw, every time i see it, you just get sick of it..somebody should make this movie about them growing up and living next door to each other...they would be interesting...
I saw part of the film-making of this movie when I used to live around this neighborhood (Phalen-St. Paul Minnesota). This scene or most of the movie was filmed here.
I have a friend from Brooklyn who transferred here for school 9 years ago, and she STILL bitches about the winter. Our winters are much colder than that. (I remember walking to school in 20 below, with 30 below windchill)Although my Brooklyn friend was very pleased to see snow. I thought they filmed in Wabasha? I know they filmed the second movie there. The first movie has several shots of my hometown. It would be nice to have some entertainment in February.
Jesus Didn't realize after watching this film so many times growing up that he ironically did go into cardiac arrest and almost died from from a heart attack if it weren't for Max saving his life
"He's dead! Died on impact!" -- Nobody could deliver a line like Matthau. R.I.P.
I love this movie.
"Jacob, moron. Jacob!"
There's nothing inherently funny about the line but it's hilarious.
“The green hornet’s caught more fish than you’ve lied about, Gustafson!” Classic! 😂😂
"Oh ya ya ya"
As a kid I used to think the ‘lucky bastard’ bits were too depressing. Now I completely agree with them.
The two best comedians of all time! "Eat my shorts!" LOL

If he didn't drink and smoke he might have made it to 84 1/2 or 85 1/2
Lucky bastard lol 😂
I get it! These old men want to pass away.
These two are the true definition of "Frenemies"
DEAD! DIED ON IMPACT. hahahahah love it
I died laughing when i was like 4 or 5 yrs old to walter Mathieu screaming when he loses his pole in the water and the fish. God this movie is a gem
The Green Hornet has caught more fish than you've lied about, Gustafson!!!

Dying on impact in a head on and getting your car pushed over a bridge into the Mississippi would definitely be going out in a blaze of glory.
Two legends, doing what they do.
Walter Matthau's character Max Goldman says it just like Nancy Cartwright's cartoon character Bart Simpson "Eat My Shorts" at 1:12!
"The Green Hornet Strikes Again" 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Only mortal enemies or best friends argue like that
Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men were wonderful movies. I would love to seem some more comedy stuff of grumpy old men.
another 20 years and im old ug life passes ya by sad really
This was filmed up the street from my house in St. Paul. Kinda cool walking by with the dog everyday.
so this was not filmed in Wabasha in Minesota like its mentioned in the movie ??
@@ambrozpalirNope. Most of this was filmed around the Lake Phalen area. Chisago Lutheran church was where John and Ariel got married.
"She drives pretty fast on that snowmobile. Pretty damn fast!" That line sums up Matthau's character and the entire film, really.
hypothermia's a bitch...lmao i love this movie..RIP Matthau and Lemmon
I'm pretty sure the flatulence in these scenes are real... ive never in my life laughed so hard...
lol Love this movie …. geez it just doesn't get old :)
this a the greatest and the most funniest movie i ever saw, every time i see it, you just get sick of it..somebody should make this movie about them growing up and living next door to each other...they would be interesting...
i love this movie!!!! i saw it last night for the first time and i fell in love with it
possibly my favourite romantic comedy (other than this means war)
Grumpy Old Men, damn it! : )))))
I just love these guys!

0:33 "Give me a cardiac any day."
Ironic he says that because later in the movie, he has a cardiac arrest near the end of the movie.
This movie was so awesome.
I’ve been using this line ever since…..
He's dead! Died on impact!
Jacob, moron. Jacob!
I have this movie at home laugh everytime :)
god these movies kick ass
He's dead died on impact, Jacob moron Jacob
"head on car crash with a truck and his car when into the mississippi" Lucky Bastard lol
i live about and hour away from where they filmed this movie.
More than likely mistaken.
It's been so long since I've seen this, I'd have to watch it again before I started looking for houses.
Ann Margret is the only one still alive
Colin Daeschle and Kevin Pollak and Melanie
Sophia Loren

The nam vets I work with are exactly like this lol one retired a few years ago but they still find the time to pull one over and bust some balls :D

O55. Lmao
I thought the houses looked too familiar. And my co-worker was lying. hmmm
There were still several scenes filmed in my hometown.
Lucky bastard
lol eat my shorts!!! funny!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's see if you feel the same way once you live through one of our winters! hahah ^_~
TheFlowerGirl13 wasn't cold enough, i went further north
Be careful what you wish for about a cardiac John lol
He almost did die, but he recovered.
Jesus Didn't realize after watching this film so many times growing up that he ironically did go into cardiac arrest and almost died from from a heart attack if it weren't for Max saving his life
