Im about to paint my wheels.. using antique brass spray can. I love watching your vids. Keep it up
Nice I jus did antique rose gold on bmw 👌
Just a tip for a better finish, lightly sand with 180 grit after primer is dry
this is an oil based enamel gloss paint its extremely durable and a clear coat is not needed. It actually polishes very well too.
Bro your spray can videos are just out of this world!! You doing great job man and these videos are appreciated a ton! Keep up the great content!
Thanks i apprecaite it. Just doing what i can with what i have.
@@JamesDguy AWESOME WAY OF LOOKING AT THINGS! 🙏🏾
I dig the filter on the fan trick! Now I'm going to go paint something & try it👍
For spray paint that’s super gloss great job
I spray painted my wheels with some Rust-Oleum just washed em and cleaned them up with a wired brush they're glossy and have held up threw everything without a primer !
Came back and watched this again. Good stuff 👍😎🇦🇺
A really nice job! I like your spray can collection too 👍😎🇦🇺
I’ve painted a few times but never painted the back. Great idea
Thank you Sir for a great how to video. Lots of good tips to pick up.
Good how-to. I have a set of stock wheels with a brushed lip and they all have some level of rash on them so I am going to strip the clear coat and refinish them myself and paint the centers to match the car then K2 the entire wheel to keep the lip finish protected. Good job and good to know the Rustoleum doesn’t need the clear unless you are running K2.
Always great content enjoy wAtching and learning from your experience with rattle can paint.
Nice Job looks Wonderful
Very nice look brand new 👍
Yeah...that's pretty damn quick! Faster than my 18' wrx with almost full bolt ons and tune, that's for sure.
Man your videos are so good. I learn so much every time. Subscribed.
Looks fantastic buddy.
Great video. Thank you for showing all the products you used. It’s very helpful! 👍👍
no problem!
Simple project on a budget. Very good explanations and what a result !
No need to buy a 1k$ set when you have talent 😁
I had a set of wheels that I painted blue, they had two centers when I got them, so I got rid of the centers & used beer cans that I painted to match.
They look great!
Awesome! takes me back a few years ago! I almost wanted to skip forward when you were taping it because I felt that s%^t! SOOOO time consuming! especially to get the line dead on with a hundred pieces of tape
Yea man i know you know the feeling. PRECISION takes FOREVER when taping. I sped it up for that reason lol.
Bro been waiting for you to drop a video for a minute! Love your content just like James content! Been following him for years ever since he painted his wife’s crv pink and probably before that. found your channel through him. Hope all is well with you and your family during these crazy times!
Always you make great job
Very nice work. Love it!
Niiiice one!! Was researching that Black Gloss from Rustoleum.. 👏👏
Very helpful I was able to watch this video and know exactly what I needed
Cool DIY! Appreciate the tips and thanks for uploading. Cheers from Tampa Bay =]]
The absolute best degreaser You can buy 111 Tricloroethane. Clean like You have then lightly spray (mist) down the areas You're gonna paint with Tricloroethane. This will evaporate quickly and any grease residue will evaporate with the Trichloroethane. It will make any surface more gracefully than you ever thought possible. If you've ever tried to use gun blue on a gun you can never seem to get it to come out as dark as it did from the factory but if you use trichloroethane it will used it since the 1980s probably since 1979 Maybe at any rate this one extra step will make your painted here like it's been electroplated onto the metal. If you have something metal wise that you have trouble with paint adhering to you have to get it down to the bare metal to use this product try a product called etching primer this has muriatic acid in it and it actually eats into the metal and the primer becomes a part of the metal paint sticks like hot dip galvanized. after using etching primer you can put any kind of coating you want on it it will not come off I've tried scraping it off with a metal putty knife off of aluminum and if you get it off you'll have aluminum stuck to the back of the primer. I hope this helps you. started painting in 1972 with my grandfather have done it professionally since 1980.
God Bless You and Your Family!!
Jimmy in NC....
I have an awesome idea for those wheels to make them shine😉
You can do some surprising things with spray cans. If you need a specific paint code matched talk to napa. But I've literally repainted half my truck with spray cans and even roll on paint. Believe it or not. It looks like it came from the factory. Napa's paint match spray cans work awesome.
This is pretty good spray paint and yeah when I put the clear coat on it started to wrinkle. Maybe it was the temperature or something. It wasn't real noticable but knowing me im very detailed and I had to fix it.
Loving your home videos been watching you for some time now as ever always a great video keep up the good work top job
Thanks appreciate it!
That is an awesome job, bro you did that. Nice work. Wade Out...
Nice work.
Just got a great deal on a set of wheels off Craigslist and I remembered this video (I know there's a few) on painting wheels so I'm sure there will be a few additional views. 😃 Good to revisit the older videos.
I got sum badass rims for my civic for 100 with the tires only thing i have to sand down the rims bc the old black paint started chipping
@@savagegaming3696 I used the same Rustoleum black paint he used here and they came out beautiful! They guy I bought them off dropped the price since they were all scratched up. A little sanding and some bondo and you can't even tell.
As always great stuff dude! Big fan of your channel!
Thanks matthew appreciate it. I have more to come hope i don't disappoint
Looks good man. I just had some EM1 rims sand blasted and powder coated. I'm gonna wire wheel backs of em and then hit em with 320, 600 and then do a matte black and clear coat em.
Hey buddy your wheels you did look really good they turned out great and I didn't know that you painted that car with cans I'm going to check that video out this is the first video I watched of yours and I subscribed because you did a great job at painting and telling us how you was doing it
these are so beautiful
I noticed you said cheap pressure washer. It’s cool man, as long as it gets the job done; that’s all that matters. I bought a second hand reel mower of of craigslist for 50 bucks. It’s somewhat rusty but still cuts my small yard. I live in a trailer park and it works for what I need. I appreciate all of your videos! Thanks
Yea $69 is cheap for a pressure washer been using it for a few months and works great for its price.
Thanks for doing this. I am a first timer. So we shall see. Thanks!
So much better and what a find!!!!! Keep up the good work homie!!!!
thanks and I agree!
Awesome job
Another great video!! Keep it up!! I painted my c10 with rustoleum using your tips
Heck yea ill have to check your channel out!
Moore Motorsports James Dguy 😎✊🏾
Looks very awesome 👏
Thanks
I cleaned mine with straight purple power and a red 3m scuff pad. After that, they just needed a light wipe before paint
Dang! Those look great. Good work 😁
I did my whelks but I used high head spray paint .
Bro... I had the same results!! With my 2 cans of clear! There is something different about this new clear. I went to Home Depot and got the older formula clear and it works just fine. Glad you did this on your channel, hopefully rustoleum will keep the older formula.
Great job young man💪
I love your videos you inspired me to get a project car and paint it and all that keep it up👍🏼
Behind this comment I posted last night from that time to now I got a car
There's nothing wrong with painting with rattle can, But always work your paint in the hardest spots first or you will get runs trying to cover.
Awesome
Nice job bro....looks good!!
Thank you for showing the people who DO NOT have paint guns and equipment what SImple Walmart or any hardware have at a economical price for DYI jobs
Easy to show what 2 cans of paint primer can do
Have you ever used the chrome paint for a shiny rim chrome look
I have actually and it don’t work the way I wanted it too.
Nice job man looks good 👍🏻
Nice job brother
Wondering if you ever spray canned wheels without tire AND painted the lips as well. If so, was there any damage to the paint that occurred during tire installation? I painted a set of wheels gold once but they had the tires on during the paint process so I just used the playing card masking trick.
Hi, incredible job! I was thinking about doing my rims and watching this really makes me want to. Did u ever wind up putting these on a car? I'm curious to see how they look on it. I know it turned out DOPE! 🤔
Enjoyed the video but had to turn the volume way down when the music starts.
Love the video. Question for you. What if you are repainting the wheels that are already black. I know about sanding them mainly to take off the clear coat, but do I need to prime them the respray black or just sand, clean and skip to black paint then clear?
@8:40 My main question about painting metal wheels is: What exactly do you do after priming? See I primed one side of the wheel (internal), and in many places the prime (I used Rust-Oleum Automotive Primer) was like a layer of chalk. I wiped it out, it was a lot, like a thick layer of dust. Then I just washed that wheel. The primer adhere to some parts (best where there was a bare metal), but not everywhere where it was painted surface. I think maybe I should just go over that primed surface w/paint, so together they would adhere, or I did something wrong. The primer is for Metal and Fiberglass surfaces. When you touch that primed surface (after it dries of course), should it stay on your fingers or not? I would appreciate any opinion on this matter, I googled and nothing about it. Some people use application of Glass Cleaner on a rag to wipe it out before and between layers of paint. The wheels are not aluminum, they got a bit rusted, I removed that rust, prepared surface, but smth went wrong w/Primer, I think. Thank you for this detailed film.
Update: It might be too high temperature. I painted in Dallas, and it was ~100F, I didn't know about the effect of primer drying in the air. I'll try in the morning at lower T.
Great job brotha looks good
Thanks jojo. Is it me or is the comment section getting dumber now days? Lol I have the cool subscribers like you and a few others and then there are these other “know it alls” lol.
Never but paint on the center inside the wheel, around the bult-hole.
There have to be maximum frictions there 👍🏼
how great does the paint hold up? I bought a car in my country and the paint job on the rims is chipping away, I kinda want to do it myself. I'm thinking of buying eastwood paint for the job.,
Ok, Anybody Else at the 9:00 mark thought it was a bug on your screen.
I jump off my chair lol
Don't ever apologize for that noise, it's the sound of freedom!
When you take off the tape, in this case gloss black, how do you take off the overspray in the lip without damaging the painted rim.
Looks like the clear had solvent pop coming from the lower layer not being flashed out enough to paint over. A slightly longer dry time before the clear is applied may solve that issue for you. Nice video tho! Keep it up! 💯
good job !
Great job 👏 👍 👌 🙌🏻
Have you tried the high performance enamel gloss black also from rust-oleum?
How does this black paint compare to rustoleum high performance wheel spray?
My VW Golf wheels are Alloy, but I'm wondering how would they look like if they're Gloss Black painted! 🙌🔥
Question, how come you had a torch? Is there something you didn’t add in?
Thinking about doing this on my Lincoln town car
We did my dads on the town car and they looked sick because they have a BBS style look to them.
My bmw has bbs wheels they look good black and chrome like in the video
That's a dope paint job....I might have to redo mines soon...so this video definitely helped me out alot....I'm not intimidated ..I think I can definitely do it myself....I also subbed ......I'm all for the do it yourself...cars,wheels,house,etc.....
Mines??? Is there twos of yous 😂
Rims look 👍 not bad
do you scuff them up a bit after primer coat?
Fresh I was already making a video of rims too. I painted mines white gloss. And I gloss cleared one and it wrinkled and I had wet sanded it and re painted it white.
Yea i prefer 2K clear because i never get wrinkle from it.
Moore Motorsports James Dguy I want to get but I’m honestly happy with how nice and glossy it looks like without clear. And wanted to let you know since you did reply I painted my entire car inspired by you ive been wanted to show you but I’m not just done yet. I’m also making a video for it as well and wanted to shout you out for all your tips and tricks
@@XXdinkles Heck yea i prefer the no clear its cheaper anyways LOL. Also that's awesome im looking forward to it!
What if the wheels you wana paint are powder coated? I have some that are candy red but want them gloss black.
Great vids! ;)
Sometimes when the clear gets cloudy you can go over it with a heat gun and it will clear up.
You said that you put clearcoat over tacky paint so not to get A paint reaction wrinkles . does that also apply to 2K clear or is that just rust-oleum clear what if you were painting rust-oleum color and You get a run or orange peel and you paint right over it with clearcoat you’re not gonna be able to get out the runs or orange peel ? I want to paint my car but don’t want to get runs or orange peel ! Can I fix after it drys and then paint clear 2k
Are there 16” 4 bolt steelies that fit my 97 accord? I want to color match paint them
Watch lots of your vids. Great every time!
First time I’m gonna spray can my F250 truck cab. Would I get easier good results with satin finish vs. gloss??
Thanks. Keep posting your videos 👍
Satin if your going to gloss it and satin if your not gonna gloss it. Satin is my go to.
Dude that's budget wrench a part in belton! Lmao I'm there all the time! Sucks alot of inventory burned up in the fire a month or so ago.
James, I believe those are MB Wheels Seven X, I had the same ones on my RSX too
yup I found the brand because of the comment section on this video and already found center caps for them.
Nice vid bro 👍👌
i have those exact rims but one is broken so i will it bring to the rim man , for him to fix it , that black colour with silver or machine lip was also the plan
Get yourself a spraycan gun so you can have more control and reduce fatigue on your finger, hands and arms
I don’t fatigue like everyone else does and I hate them things. I have one and hate it. Been spray can painting since I was 15 and I’m 30 now so no problem for me. My method works for me perfect without them things.
dude never apologize for the sound of freedom.... any noise the base makes is perfectly ok theyre all heros doin a impossible life risking job
If you call censoring conservatives/patriots/rule of law, etc. and the ability to invade other small countries and use fear propaganda, fake terror, staged events, problem/reaction/solution events Freedom then yea. But I don’t. Not trying to cause argument, but only educating or at least putting the spark in someone else to further their research on what we have been brainwashed for decades with.
I got the 2x instead😂good thing I haven’t used it yet ima return it and buy these instead, did you use 1 coat? Or do I have to do 6-8 each wheel?
Your next video should be on their Tall Boy Cans with the super wide spray pattern. I did an entire hood in like 3 overlapping passes.
I did a video 2 times on that.
How long did you wait until you mounted the tires
You got me with the God Bless! 🙌
I'm about to paint my wheels too, full diy guide, including sanding and everything else you should use, video coming soon on my channel
Cool 😎
It's really a labor of love man.
My rims had scratches and grooves so had to fill and sand before painting. When I finished one I was ready to quit but ended up doing all four. They didn't come out so great and I probably didn't wait long enough before putting the tires back on cause the paint started chipping where the machine made contact.
Any tips for keeping the finish looking good?
Best way to maintain them is after they cure put a ceramic coat or hydro silex coating and it helps prolong the life of the paint.
What base are you next to?
