How To Make Objects Levitate In Your Videos - After Effects CC

- Hey what’s going on Internet! In this video learn how to make objects LEVITATE in your videos! We’re going to go over how to shoot and edit you’re very own levitation clip together. You’re going to need tape, string or a thin cable, and lastly your object. Then shoot your clip with the object by itself and then shoot your background plate. We will be using Adobe After Effects CC to composite our footage together. Inside of After Effects, we’ll use the rotobrush tool to isolate our objects and composite it on top of our background plate. With good color correction, your two shot videos should easily blend together.
(This was a prop "fake" gun at the beginning of the video)

A quick tip:
Record the video infront of your green pc photo. Or a green screen..
Seems like if you slowed down the object (the controller) it would look more like it's floating. As is, it's clear that it's dangling and not floating. Other than that, this is a great tutorial and will likely come in handy for many.

would be way easier with a green screen poster or something behind the object so that you dont have to rotoscope anything. great idea though and good video nonetheless.

I have question, is there no way in after effects you can play both the audio and video in real time apart from RAM preview, I use premier pro, and I am able to simultaneously play the video and audio without even preview, is there any way to do this in AE? Thank you

I agree with a previous poster that tutoring an entire clip, from picking it up to floating & back would've been nice. Generally your posts are informative and easier to follow than some others.
