I like how the vampire chronicles integrate both the beautiful humanlike Vampirs and the monstrous zonmbieesque ones
This reminded me of the wights from vampire the masquerade, basically a vampire that for whatever reason has been consumed by the "Beast" within every vampire and lost all of its humanity and is now basically a mindless zombie
When Louis mentioned the blood being bad because of the victims sadness and grief, I immediately thought of VtM's blood resonances. VtM obviously takes a lot of their lore from the Immortal Universe, but it's cool to see it happen in reverse with the emotional states of vampire's victims affecting the blood. I don't recall that being in Rice's works before this series.
This case Humanity 1 becouse he can remember his Sire and protect her.
It’s kind of heartbreaking to think. A mother protecting her child. A child protecting its mother. Only for the mother to be put in the situation where she must now be the one to end her childs suffering
This is not a child, it is a tortured soul forced to live as an undead without reason haha and the vampire who created it is a fool since she started the fight first without any reason.

yeeaaaaaahhhh....Anne rice vamps don't work like this. if i EVER had any doubts about this series, this took a rock to thier head. this shite is to Ann Rice what "Rings of Power" is to Tolkien.
But Louis and Claudia do find revenant vampires in the book.

@@alexsolomon8127 Was the last time you read it in 1976? You might want to reread part II of the book. The revenants are the first vampires Louis and Claudia encounter outside of New Orleans before theatre des vampires.
What's with you "book fans" that know nothing of the books? And its Anne Rice, not Ann.
Genre fanboys are never satisfied with anything. They don't want any development, exploration, narrative evolution, nothing. They simply want to eternally live in the "original" stories they know from their childhood. You'd think that people who enjoy fantastical tales would be more open minded to change, but no. That's why nobody likes nerds. They are eternally grumpy, eternally unhappy, and eternally full of spite. If you only like the OG books/stories/movies of whatever you enjoy, then go back to those, and let us enjoy the stuff we enjoy that pays homage and takes our favorites into awesome new directions.
