Great video again. Loved the drone work. Your not too bad at it. The texals just the warm up before the madness begins. How did you get on with the cattle sale? Chin up and keep smiling
Hi , just heard you on about eyes picking the pellets ou of the ration if you put it in the diet feeder few hours or night before you fed it the moisture from the silage breaks them down and the ewws aren't able to pick them out. It works for us! Give it a go to ya see, hope the weather improves land is swimming here in Ireland also. Good luck
They say fill it night before and nuts have dissolved look at sheep school video today in Ireland and a man feeding a load of sheep within a shed with a diet feeder
Nicola the outside ewes look in great condition and if your inside feeding plan has worked well in the past dont change it , maybe when you are vaccinating them condition score the doubles and put lean older ones in with the triplets for bit extra nuts. Mallasses is key to energy and ball feeders would do in shed and that way keep the necks and flanks cleaner. We apply Mallasses at the rate of 18 kilos per bale onto the swathe prior to baling , giving increased intakes , less mould , better fermentation and great palitable hi energy silage , and these bales hold over for up to 4 years and the Mallasses almost gives off an alcohol smell when these are opened. But the most important thing is we never have had a case of twin lamb disease since adding the Mallasses. That Texel ram lamb , blue no 1 on his flank is a cracker, great head , wrinkled chest and shoulder ,with great topline and hind quarters .Well done and good luck.
Thank you, never lambed everything inside so can’t say if my feeding will work or not 😅 time will tell… I don’t separate twins from triplets - usually just all get fed the same. That’s very interesting about adding molasses at silage time, never knew about this so maybe something to try! Thank you again for the tips, much appreciated
Looks like a whole lot of lambing coming up, Nicola.. 🤞🤞 Nice to see a drone shot included, were you piloting it or Davey? Looking forward to better weather this week as it rained solidly all last night here in East Yorkshire...
My top tip ---Nothing like a neep for ewes in pens-saves on water buckets and boy do they like a munch on a neep after lambs are born. Pity about the rugby result.
Hi Nicola, I bet you are happy the snow is finally melting and the sheep's feet will be happy too. The lambs are dropping quick and fast which is keeping you on your toes. Your 3 bottle feed girls are growing well mainly because of your hard work at the start. It looks like you will be busy for a while with lots more sheep to lamb shortly. Do you get anybody in besides your dad to help with the farm while the sheep are lambing? Your sheep yards are amazing, they are undercover and allow you to do anything with them without stressing them. Keep up the great content. Chris from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.
Hello Nicola. You had a question about feeding ewe nuts thru the forage wagon. I know you feed the cattle early in the day so if you mix the ewe ration next and let it sit for 3-4 hrs before feeding out it will let the nuts break down into the silage and prevent sheep sorting thru the feed. Your attention to detail is a credit to you.Molasses is a great energy source and indoor lambers wont need much more than good silage if in good body conditon. Its easy to overfeed with the wagon so be careful. I hope this is helpful. Best regards.Bryan
I would agree. Your sheep look well and they can usually manage on very little concentrate if their energy levels are good. Condition scoring and grouping them according to need works well. Saves on ration too. All the best for a good season.
What i like about you is you are so open minded .good on you.
Great.women happy lambing
Lovely to see the lambs jumping about.

Thank you Bryan, very helpful indeed. Will maybe need to asses my ration after body scoring I think as I think ewes will be in fairly good condition.

The ewe lambs that were on the turnips, are they replacements for your breeding flock ??
Yes they are 😊
Where do we get to see your response to our comments questions 😮 where about in Scotland are you farming?

Is there any workers on the farm or it just you??
Thank you ☺️
My dad, a cattleman and myself all full time.
