Yeah there not pointing their guns at each other it’s probably there are two monsters behind them so their covering each other
Look at deans gun (an older gun as dean is the older brother) and sams gun is a more new and modern one (as Sam is younger)
it also fits with other aspects, like how dean never quit the job while sam went back in and is therfore more new to it
also there's deans taste in music, 80's rock. so he prefers older things compared to new ones
another thing is that sam is clearly the smarter, more advanced brother, so his gun is more advanced
Also they aren’t shooting each other maybe there is something behind them both and they are aiming behind each other

because there are multiple parallels that fit the show
the brothers were born in Lebanon Kansas, the band who made the song is named Kansas
and the song (or at least my interpretation of it) is about a father who was blinded by pride and ignorance and has made many mistakes, and has paid for it in many ways, mostly through emotional turmoil. but still at the end of the day, the father wants the best for their child
in the show the father (john) is a man who after losing his wife experiences immense grief and spends the rest of his life on a seemingly pointless crusade that is surely to end in woe, along the way he makes mistakes which he regrets, but despite how much of a jerk he is he cares for his children above anything else
another thing is that throughout the show there's an ever present theme of awesome rock music.
