I just adopted a lurcher puppy 3 days ago and he's the sweetest dog I've ever met, lovely nature. Never barks
I've owned many breeds and cross-breeds. Years ago , I found a young lurcher at a rescue shelter. She was phenomenal! Her sense of humour was a delight. To watch her run at full speed was an experience of pure beauty. RIP my beloved Morag. I have now adopted retired Greyhounds. Mine are more reserved, but stil really lovely dogs.
My boy Rocky passed in November, I haven't had the balls to watch this till today, he was 17, he was found at 10 months old, chained to a lamp post, trauma to his neck, I took him straight away, he was huge, sweet & terrified, he occasionally went into psycho mode when he sensed sheep or deer, I miss you pal.
I can vouch for them. Never met a bad one. Got a rescue lurcher. Lovely affectionate animal.
A good run at the local park once a day is plenty of exercise to keep most Lurchers happy and healthy
yep they are happy to chill alday with owber
Got our Collie Greyhound lurcher Ralphie from a dog rescue centre five years ago. He's the best funniest dog we've had, extremely loyal and doesn't leave your side, full of character.
Couldn't Have Said It Better My Self, Lurchers Are The Best !
We are on our second lurcher now, first one we got was 18 month rescue. Now we have a rescue puppie, exact same nature, (strangely exact same color and markings) our kids can be kids around her, they make good family pets, but they need a space, to open up and run their socks off.
My beautiful lurcher LOVES her bed, the chair, the sofa, my bed, the spare room beds in fact ANY bed! :-)
My lurcher x sharpie x anerican bulldog is the same
@@Cleonareaallen aren't they the best? Hi from Ireland!

Lurchers:I'M A RUNNING AND FAMILY DOG
my lurcher jes: yeah ill run tomorrow
This is good to know because I'm getting a lurcher on Wednesday 17the of July. He is so cute.
WOW! That fella at 0:32 showed real honour and dignity! His soul seemed very straight-forward and informative!? I hope you and all your dog friends have great blessings. RAINBOWS!
CALM ! My pup is crazy
Puppy lurcher anything but calm ...mental is the word
This was very interesting. Our little rescue is a lurcher x Jack Russell, so perhaps a little less calm but still an intelligent and very loyal dog.
Seems like a wonderful family dog!
I only got a lurcher he is still a puppy and I love him
I have 2 lurchers....they’re lazy af and eat everything lol
😂😂😂😂
Lots of exercise? Not in my experience. 1hr a day max.
I just lost my lurcher he was put down because he was really unwell his name was Geno sometimes called Genovich
I have a lurcher and she is the BEST
Lurchers are super pets
Love lurchers, but people need to remember they are bred traditionally for hunting capacity. Our current one likes to chase cats and squirrels, but is unlikely to catch them. Her predecessor would come back with prey in her jaws (foxes - mange-ridden, not fit ones, so she was probably doing them a favour -, squirrels, rabbits). It became truly problematic when a cat thought he could stare her down. He couldn't, and my lovely dog killed it. I had to give her away as I couldn't let the cat's owner (we both witnessed the death) see the dog again because it would upset her. Lurchers are adorable dogs: friendly, gentle, nice to humans, but they will kill.
Lurchers FTW!
Did you know lurchers need little exercise but It does depend
Lurchers need at least good walks. This is why a Lurcher can sleep for 16 hours a day.
@@Soulvex they will sleep if only let out to relieve them selves ,,,mine are doing it now and they have only been in the garden for 4 days sadly due to myself not been well.
I had greyhound I used to race to keep it fit I used to take it lamping rabbits three hard runs it was knackered and the rabbits were no good they bruised, I had Whippet/Greyhound/Collie the best Lurchers .
There also one of the fastest dogs in the world
i have a crazy lurcher
Calm????? I think mine is broken then because he is a crazy whirlwind!
they dont need that much exercise 2 30 mins or 1 big hour walks enough
Not true. Depends on the cross and how much sighthound is in them. A longdog or a grey/Beddy crossed back to a whippet probably won't need much exercise. A collie x whippet or wheaten x grey will need as much exercise as collie or a wheaten terrier (ie three hours or two hours a day). People don't exercise their dogs enough. Also a proper lurcher is best worked. They are bred to hunt, and it is a bit cruel to keep one and not allow it to chase prey. If you don't want to do this, then you should not get anything with sighthound blood.
I have puppy lurched and she’s a right devil
Lol I like to call them lazy Lurchers
Need something on long dogs rescued one a few months ago just want more info about them they’ve been around for long time like lurchers they are sight hound mixed with another sight hound My hamish was supposed to be greyhound Scottish deerhound but really looks like borzoi I mean really it almost overshadows the greyhound but he’s a lover boy just would love more info like with lurchers
Good for you to recognise the difference between a long dog and a lurcher. A cross between two sight hounds is, as you rightly observe, not a lurcher, even though the term is wrongly applied. In my experience a long dog tends to take after one or other of the parents in character. So a saluki cross might be a bit diffident. I bought a dog as a long dog (grey x whippet) and immediately realised that she was lurcher (bull x grey with a bit of whipper, saluki). She is lovely and affectionate, but has a bit of bull mentality.
@@glancetoleg sounds beautiful my hamish can be bull headed but I put that on ( no insult intended) him being such a guy And I’m positive it also has to do with me spoiling him to no end and as he was a rescue I don’t know his parents or the ones that had him and that’s probably a good thing as people that abuse abandon or in anyway don’t care for them as family and a lifetime commitment don’t see the nice kind caring side of me. But I like to think his dad was a borzoi prince waiting to become the czar and his mom was greyhound and spritly silly and cuter than a bugs ear and very much a girl just because I see those things in him Enjoy your bull headed pup I’m positive that pup is a joy in your life. And if you would give your pup a bit of cheese from me.
Won't go hungry with a lurcher around
Just remember 1 very important thing. They are addictive, how could the greatest dogs created not be? proud owner of a retired Jack X Whippet (RIP my friend, you are missed every day. Now I have 2 beautiful Lurchers, A 4yr old Deehound/Collie X Grey/Bedlington and a 2yr (next month) Saluki X Staffie
My Lab loved the water
Wouldn't have any other dog
i have never, and will never own a dog that isn't a lurcher
Mine bites me and has so much energy or is that cause it’s a pup
How long u walk it
Actually alot of lurchers look the same depending on breed type ,sadly they are the easiest dog to pass on to others especially if more running dog is in the type an they dont need lots of exercise that is a total myth ,I have owned ,bred, and worked lurchers for there true making for alot of years now and currently own a very mixed lurcher to lurcher bred dog I kept from my last litter also a bedlington x lurcher, which is one of the types that breed true to type on the first cross. I really wish that people would stop putting the wrong information about these types of dog an also others that chastise the breed ,they are an extremely trouble free dog but then again most are if trained an brought up correctly.
It really is a bone in the throat with me when these dogs are g
Given the wrong info.
there was more information in the adverts than the breed, do me a favour and go do one as you dont have a clue
Make great service dogs .
0:22 looks like my dog tarquin

I have a lurcher he's lazy as and really goofy
No, she is not lazy. You might be, and are projecting this onto the dog. A proper lurcher needs a lot of exercise. A longdog might not. If you don't know the difference between a longdog and a lurcher, you probably should not own either. But there again, most dog owners I meet shouldn't own dogs. Most are under-exercised and owned by people who have little clue about why certain dogs have been bred as they are. The worst owners are those who keep brachycephalic dogs (pugs, Frenchies, bulldogs, shih tzus etc) which simply should not exist: they live their entire lives in discomfort because of being bred to look 'cute' (aka revolting). All of them should be sterilised so that they cannot produce young that live in equal pain.
My next rescue , lurched/lab was very laid back also czcams.com/video/WZc7kGgzuYo/video.html
