    Man that's a lot of stuff to mix in for one dip job! I dipped my S5 in poison grape with RL-17 pearl a while back and it came out pretty similarly. There's a video of it on my channel if you wanna check it out. Decent comparison between vinyl and plastidip, but there are a couple things I wanted to point out. You definitely got a SOOPER cheap deal on that vinyl wrap, first of all! BTW you can also ceramic coat plastidip if you use dip armor and it's very smooth like factory paint. I also have a video of that on my channel. You mentioned "dip coat on top" of the camaro, but dip coat is something that needs to be applied regularly and if you don't, it does wear off and the dip gets "rough" like you mentioned early in the video, so just want to make sure you're putting dip coat on after every couple washes on the whole car, not just problem spots. And bird poop is VERY acidic whether it's regular paint, vinyl wrap, or dip. You always wanna wipe that off immediately no matter your finish. Dip is going to have orange peel, like you mentioned, but yours looks to have a more prominent orange peel than normal. I'm wondering if the guy that dipped yours used the low end turbine. The stage 3 turbine atomizes much better and the orange peel will be much less. Anyway, sorry such a long comment, just wanted to throw all that out there. Over all, good video!

    There's a ceramic coat for dip now.
    Thanks for the video. Vinyl wrap can cost even more if body work is needed.

      Yup! My Mustang is currently getting dipped with armored bora bora and I'll ceramic coat it 30 days after that. I plan to make another video called Dip revisited.

    I have worked with both products, and by far platidip is easier to install than wrap, plus it's much cheaper. Wrap has better color choices, but that's it, it doesn't worth the hassle. That's why wrap installers charge so much!

    Maybe I missed you saying it ? But IMPO, the #1 biggest reason that a wrap blows away a dip, is that a dip has the funkiest orange peel texture. While a wrap is perfectly flat and smooth every time !

    • @joeyofblades
      @joeyofblades  Před 3 lety +1

      Mine had some runs and a little bit of the orange peel effect, it mostly depends on installer and quality of paint. Autoflex and proline I've heard don't have as many imperfections

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram Před 3 lety +1

      @@joeyofblades I'd think that the Pros over at DYC would know how to eliminate orange peel, yet I see orange peel in every single DYC video. Great colors, and DIY..... but if your not into texture, wrap it.

      @@Chris_Wolfgram shit I liquid wrap with normal clear. Wetsand and flowcoat. Once you spray enough cars, you learn to get rid of orange peel texture.

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram Před rokem

      @@JYNXZI_SZN I'm not doubting you. I know I've heard that the Proline series of dips are more like paint, and can show no orange peel or be sanded to remove it, but I'm sure the skill of the person putting spraying it would make a BIG difference too... And I have zero skill with automotive spraying 😕

      @stock4862 I was wondering if normal 2k clear would lay nicely on top of dip. Does it affect the removal of the dip when it's time to peel?

    Simple green removes stains and scratches from plasti-dip and works better than dip spray

    • @joeyofblades
      @joeyofblades  Před měsícem

      How much do you dilute? It's pretty strong if you don't go 20:1 or at least 10:1 with water, it can stain gauge clusters if you leave it too concentrated.

    The reason I’d use PlastiDip instead of wrapping is the ease of use, cheapness, the fact that you can just peel it off and then apply another color, the fun aspect of spraying it, and PlastiDip has way more fun colors, such as HyperShift

    • @joeyofblades
      @joeyofblades  Před 25 dny

      There are vinyls that do color shift. I hear you on those points but like with wraps you have to have someone who knows what they're doing when it goes on.

      Glad I could help, I havent had a dipped car for years now but my challenger is wrapped and I've kept it garaged and ceramic coated. I wouldn't necessarily avoid dip in the future but probably gonna have one wrapped car and one that just has paint since it looks good already.

    • @joeyofblades
      @joeyofblades  Před rokem +1

      Depends on if you're garaging the car, working on it, if it's goat a coating on it (ceramic or PPF for wrap, dip armor / dipcoat for plastidip), if you drive in winter/snow/rain...
      I have a wrap on my challenger that has lasted for 4 years and counting. It's ceramic coated and the car is garage kept and always has been. There are a few corners where it has started to come up, but overall it's still in great shape.
      I sold the plastidipped Camaro and mustang, so I can't comment on that, but the dip armor is 100% worth it because the mustang's coat was a lot stronger than the Camaro's.
