- I'm not sure of the year, but Court House which is under construction here was completed in 1992. Also there are Chevy Impala cabs from 94', so I suppose those shots were taken in different years.
Along with late 30' and early 70' the best peroid of this city in my opinion.
Song: Autumn In New York by Michael Breker.
I moved to NYC June 1 1992 from Augusta, Ga. Wow the city was so 80s. I was only 20 years old. Bittersweet memories for sure... 9/11 destroyed so much.
Lucky you
In the early 1990s, it was still the later half of the 1980s in terms of fashion, culture etc. I have always felt that I would only like to visit NYC if i had a time machine, 1985-93 is the era. Wall street money, worldly art and culture, upper east side decadence, mafia hits in mid town Manhattan, crack cocaine being smoked by people in alleys and in big financial board rooms, seeds porn shops in times square, rampant crime, creepy subway. When new york city was new york city. I remember my dad went there on business in 1989, I was 7, he got me a lawrence taylor starting lineup as a souvenir. He said the sun setting against the buildings in the city was nice. I grew up in Chicago so I know what living in a major city is like but that era of Nyc is intriguing.
This is INCREDIBLE. The source tape must have been absolutely pristine.
Look at those Twin Towers looking bad-ass!! They were iconic structures in NYC, represented what New York was when they stood in there day! I miss seeing these amazing sky scrapers. Last time I saw the Twin Towers was in 1989. 😢.. what I would do to go back to these days and relive them😞.
We all took the Towers and this time period for granted, I think. We didn't realize how good we had it.
I love how the wfc and wtc fits together to make nice skyline 1:30
Is it just me, or did the Twin Towers fit in PERFECTLY with the NYC skyline? I try hard to like Freedom Tower, but it just doesn't seem to go well with the NYC skyline. I miss the Towers. They were so bad ass. Freedom Tower seems a bit lame and doesn't seem to have the "balls" the Twin Towers had.
+Earth Ruler They could not rebuild them they would of likely been attacked again i like the freedom tower but to have the Twin towers there would be much better
+Brompton bike Lover, they are not going to rebuild what they knocked down.
Arlene M. Also true
Their unique design can be attributed to the architectural genius Minoru Yamasaki. He envisioned every detail of the original World Trade Center, from the Twin Towers to the surrounding lowrise buildings, the plaza and its sculptures, and all the plantations, as well as the miscellaneous details, including the materials selected. All of this made the old WTC what it was.
The new WTC doesn't "fit" the void left by the events of 9/11.
They should have rebuilt the twin towers.
i miss the WTC and the 1990's
And now we all miss 2013
@Mark Majid compared to now, I'll gladly go back to 2013 😂
@@scan4707 No, the 90s..
Wow this made me teary eyed....absolutely amazing stuff.
It's neat to see these early HD recordings that aren't actual films.
The couple at 1:40 adds that nice warmth for this great nostalgic video, which seems to be disappeared nowadays. I hope they are fine and still together today.
this beautiful, scenic video were shot in the summer of 1993.
Absolutely breath taking. Makes me miss that beautiful city
Tecnology is beautiful, it helps to keep good memories that perhaps would be lost, or shattered into scenes or flashes, the 90s looks amazing, i'm from 1994, but this era fascinates me
so were you born in 1994?
@@aninternetnpc7759 yes
Nice footage the video is crystal clear!! I was in the Big Apple November 1993. Thank you for taking me back, it's good to live it again. 🗽
I lived in New York over 31 years !! The best times are the nineties !! Wow back then it was awesome !! Now I live i Maryland and still miss it but my times are over !! It will be always with me New York City in my heart for life
Gorgeous video. I can't stop watching it for some reason.
rrrrr Probably because of the beautiful soundtrack accompanying it
WOW the resolution of this video is astounding! How is it so crisp?
An update! So here is the deal in the early 90s digital motion was just starting to come out (720-1080p). What we're seeing is early capture probably meant to showcase the picture quality. A big clue was that the aspect ratio for this footage was not in the customary 4:3 for the time so that ruled out tape and even 35mm.
I am from Europe... but why i love USA ? Man, these footage is amazing..
mihai0377 It’s nice to know someone still likes us ;). I’m from New York, and I hope you come here someday. This video didn’t even capture how beautiful it truly is. 🇺🇸
George Frey Hi George, nice to meet you. I never judge a nation based on one person. I think everyone should do the same. About the USA, i always like United States, i always like suburs . I have a weakness for suburbs since i saw the movie Home Alone, when i was a kid and i like how you guys decorate your houses during Christmas time in USA. In Europe is the same, but american people give much more attention to details than us. USA is a great nation. Beautiful places, very polite people and very kind. I never visit USA as we, european people need a Visa to enter in USA. I hope one day to visit your country and why not, drink a beer . Cheers
USA is not the same, too sad
i need a time machine to go back in time to that era
Time machine to 3 years before i was born 1992
That's the NYC I grew up in. I miss the Twin Towers
1:29 The towers look surreal somehow like they were CGI
Without phones everyone looked more happy and present in the moment
Yep, too true that. Those little devices have taken much more from us than theyve given. The world might realise it one day and resent them. I hope!
Oh boy
I wanna go back
Just watched a livestream from Times Square and then the algorithm sent me here lol, when i saw Times Square in this video i got goosebumps, so different and a lot less "messy". THIS is the city i fell in love with and never getting to travel when it looked like this will forever haunt me, amazing video.
I was like 15 then now im 40, time passes by so fast.
It looks like it could have been taken today except 1 or 2 minor details 2:53
Blue Dog you are in a meme bro
Sexy environment and the world center for business
Can someone from the technical world please explain to me how this was filmed? What type of camera used etc and how it was rendered so well, really dying to know. It's beautiful.
It may have been a Sony HDC-500. HD video cameras did exist back then, though they were analog, not digital.
I miss these good old years ;c
Maybe the whole 90s nostalgia is simply because of low quality cameras.... this looks almost same as now, only cars look a little bit older.
It wasn’t the same. The people were so much happier
Why am I just now seeing this in 2017???
Im in 2018
I'm in 2019 lol

1992-94 makes me think about a young Whitney Houston walking the streets of New York City and near Arista Records on 57 street and Fifth Avenue and Radio City Music Hall. I would have loved to had met her back then and had the chance to say hello to her. What a kind and lovely woman she was - and man could she sing like an angel. She worked very hard and did so much good for other people. Thanks Nippy. We love you.
that camera quality is AMAZING
WTC 😢
terribly..
Vivid times of capitalism after fall of Berlin Wall.
I attended a Society of Motion Picture Engineers convention in Los Angeles around that time and I remember seeing a High Definition TV prototype and on it they were showing an incredibly detailed Columbia Pictures logo with the clouds moving about slowly, it looked so detailed and incredible that it was like looking through a window into another world or room, I'm not exaggerating it was that good. I think even 4K HD TVs pale in comparison, monitor was kind of a thick flat screen, about I'd say 40 or so inches. Never forget it, this NY HD footage reminds me of that, though I'd just ad my two cents to this amazing and marvelous footage. - Gary
Exquisit. Thanks for the video.
Born and raised in the Bronx and I miss it but not the people . New York is really a beautiful place to visit . I left New York at 21 I’m now 29 and reside in sunny Arizona. Memories ....🌷
Beautiful outstanding amazing memories.. Great memories.. Outstanding amazing Presentation 😘😘👑😍 Great music on the back ground.
Imagine being one of the kids in this video and seeing it now :D

Awesome!
what a great video
pięknie:)
Some of this had to have been in 1993.. the marquee of "Paper Moon" was on display at the Marquis theater in Times Square
I'm from Portland Maine and used to visit New York as a kid and teen in 1989 and 1995 went on top of the north tower america was better simply put during the 90s but it always has been and it's still very good u can't just say an era is terrible because we lost 2 towers
For me, after Paris, this is the most beautiful city in the world
Even though technically it's far from the most beautiful, New York is my favourite City along with London. There's just something so gritty yet magical about it.
Beautiful
Amazing
I wish i lived during the 90's
awesome quality wtf D:
I miss those nice days
Hi - do you know who owns the copyright to this video?
Its like time machine😍
The golden age before the fall
Will you stop begging for the towers i do understand they very cool lookin but if it was to return back new york will be goin wild by this towers trust me fam if you were to go in the towers you will be shakin by how scared you will be you'll be strugglin just to stay in the world center for even 10 seconds you will be going like ahhhhhhhhhhhh and there a 0.5 to 0.00001% chance of planes flying in again and those chances seems very high good luck if you stay there for a minute without feeling scared
Man, when the world was best and happy.. The golden era of the city, The World Trade Center is alive.. The skyline was amazing in that years.. I born in the 2003, but I really want meet our old city in the 90s ❤️🇺🇲
Being born in 2003 is so retarded
I was born in 1995
역시 뉴욕이네요! 너무 멋져요 👍👍
I want to go to here.
This looks way too good to be 1994
I wish to visit NY before I die.
how did you get it this hd
It was filmed with an early HD camera back in 1993.
The twin tower was so iconic.
Is my dream to go to New York
Oh yessss
I miss New York
Now that was the coolest city on the planet!
remind me of 9 1/2 weeks movie !
2:24 Empire State Building, all alone in midtown Manhattan...
love the twin tower forever
Before cell phones, before people even used the internet pretty much. More authenticity. Crime was pretty bad though due to the crack wars winding down. I grew up during this era, its a blurry memory today but I remember a lot.
Fucking exquisite thank you very much
HDVS ❤️
0:11 where's time warner center?
Built after 9/11
0:34 oh boy im going to take a nap, i sure hope that people on the internet will not watch me sleep 30 years later!
A time of magic. Shame it isn't the same.
NYC just gets better with age.
NYC is a soulless shell of its former self.
Respectfully disagree. NYC today has become Disneyland, no creativity, no originality, no soul. I am glad I got to experience NYC in the 90s
@@delvallo9652 nyc still got all that what do you mean
1:39 How to go from "that's a cute girl" to "ok I'm gay now" in 1 second.
Lol
are the movies, songs, books, music, sitcoms & etc all accurate? probably not, but I know it has to be that living organism that influences the whole world with its cultural exports, no other patch of soil in the earth comes close to new york
dat upscale
Omg , new york so beautiful and sexy city
play this on my death bed so i can tell myself "life was good"
Who's watching in 2019 😛
nah watching in 2020
probably even 2021 :P
2021
Still watching in November 2021!🥰

I miss 90s NY. It became an overly gentrified, police state after 9/11. This reminds of me of better times.
90s new york was the place to be. Never the same after 9/11
Dont forget about the 80s and 70s new york they are so much better than 90s new york
1:36 She looks pretty cute uhhh nevermind.
everything weren't so bad
