But not even though. The more that social media grows, the more emphasis we're putting on looking like supermodels and celebrities, even on regular ass people. It's creating an impossible and unattainable beauty standard. People need to unplug and realize that they can't expect every person they come across to have a carved body and a 24/7 face of makeup that still looks "all natural". We need to stop commodifying beauty like we, especially women, owe it to the world to be pretty. Forget beauty standards!

not to mention the classism. it often takes a lot of time and money to prevent signs of aging, and the people who can’t afford that - or simply don’t choose to prioritise it - are treated like they’re lazy, bad people. I have a connective tissue disease that causes my skin to have excessive elasticity and smoothness, giving me a literal "baby face" at 22... But it also causes my limbs to constantly pop in and out of their sockets, muscles to tear off the bone at random times if I'm not excessively cautious, as well as organ and blood dysfunction 24/7. It scares the shit out of me that there's so many people who, despite how DEBILITATING the disease is, have casually mentioned in person that they "wish they had it" because of how it affects my skin. They'd be willing to live a life of literal constant agony, being in and out of different mobility aides, and monthly doctor's visits just for some shiny skin that doesn't even work properly???? It both breaks my heart and absolutely BAFFLES me that our society is still so rooted in appearance-based measurements of worthiness, I feel like I need to start workshopping asap how to teach my future kiddos to address this in a healthy way because it's incredibly sad to witness.
For reference, I am not a woman, but I was raised as one for about 18 years of my life, so I'm very familiar with the wild expectations and standards set (BY MEN MIGHT I ADD) for folks who exist within the femme areas of gender expression.

The thing is even if someone does everything to not age, they can still age bc early or late aging is really connected to genetics in general. Some people get white hair when they are 25 or not even get white hairs when they are 55...

It is a common misconception that a single product can reverse the aging process. However, aging is a natural process that cannot be stopped. That being said, one can still feel youthful at any age. I personally had to take a break from social media to avoid getting caught up in unrealistic beauty standards.

It reminds me of how people talk about collagen, and that there might be products that can do minor benefits so many are scams because it’s simply not now it works. Rubbing it into your face isn’t going to do anything, and pills/powders might do minor things but usually unless medically designed aren’t bounded to be some savior for your aging skin since it has mixed results. You can take all these supplements and products as much as you want but none of them can inherently magically stop or reverse aging- majority just want your money to feed the capitalistic machines and greed that keep people self conscious

This is so crazy to me, because I know this one girl who is 18 years old, and she was already talking abt fearing aging. And she was advertizing an anti aging product. She is barely even an adult doing all that. Why is this such a thing?

Oh man...my body dysmorphia started young. My eating habits started being criticized by 8 and at 10 my grandmother put me on a Slimfast diet one summer. I was forced to run laps around our backyard or jump on the trampoline a certain amount of time. I had a keep a food diary and keep a count of the calories for everything else I ate in the day and I couldn't go over a certain number. Even when I got down to 100 pounds, I was still so affectionately called "thunder thighs" and as a 40 year old woman, I can't wear shorts or bathing suits in public.

This idea of aging is wild; the other day I had to show a security person my ID because they thought I was 13... I'm 18...💀and then they said, "Wow, you look great for 18; good genetics." (They were dead serious.) Like, sir, when has 18 ever been a "bad" age? Also, it's clearly not a good thing to look 13 (when you're not). Like you are saying, I look like a prepubescent child, not a fully grown woman. And what scares me is that these days, people on TikTok would take a situation like this as a compliment.💀

Dude I love your content like this way that people have been terrified of aging is honestly just sad like wrinkles show that you’re getting older which isn’t a bad thing, if anything I find it beautiful because that means your body is showing that you are living. Not many people get to grow old, I almost committed soduku when I was 12 and I appreciate every day that I can that I am still alive. I enjoy knowing that I’m trying to make my life in to something I can look back on with smile (while not worrying about how my emotions may cause wrinkles 💀)

I’m 23 and every time I find a grey/white hair (I have vitiligo so it’s hard to tell what’s what, and I’m clearly part of the problem cos why do I need to qualify this?), I hate how self conscious it makes me. Aging is a privilege. Having enough nutrition and comfort and money to survive is not accessible to so many people around the world. I should be happy to know I’m allowed to age.

the reasoning behind it is because the emphasis on beauty culture. When we were growing up we were essentially ALLOWED to be young look young act like kids etc, gen z and alpha really aren't given that space anymore. Like if you as a 15 year old dont look a certain way you're getting roasted, and its crazy. Like little girls saying "youre just angry I look better than you at 15 than you do at 27" babe..... Acting and looking 25 as a 15 year old is not a flex, you're setting yourself up to be a victim...

Bro getting old is GOOD the other option is DYING; I’m not on any social media besides CZcams (i don’t think it really counts as much but still) and this kinda stuff is the big reason, people really get so wrapped up in whatever else someone else is freaking out about.
Imagine twenty years from now when you really start aging and then think how silly you are. Even if you “look older” you are LIVING, you are A PERSON, your appearance is not your value. Maybe I feel this way because I’ve always had freckles and got bullied for it, so I already have marks I didn’t choose all over my face and body. I just want people to ACTUALLY love themselves and not look in the mirror and say “I love my face because it’s YOUNG” or some other adjective, life is crazy and your appearance could always change, a medical emergency or everyday accident could even do it 🤷

This actually made me think a bit why i sometimes feel attatched to looking younger and i realized its because at least for me its become less about beauty standards and more about how i dont feel like an adult, i dont feel responsible and independent. It feels like the older i look the less people will want to forgive me for all my goof ups. This all feels a bit weird to write out because I would like to be a fully functional adult, i just dont know how im going to get there.

The irony of me getting a skincare ad right after this video. I am so sick and tired of skincare. People left and right, saying you “need”! These products. I am 16 years old, and I can admit I have been a victim of the fear mongering. Especially since I struggle with acne all over my face and body, it ends up being what I think about right when I wake up. I am trying my very best to get out of that mindset. It’s draining. I feel for all the younger girls getting bashed for being all over Sephora/Ulta as well, people so mad about it. Where do you think they saw that same skincare and were told that they “need it”.? Exactly. They are being used and fear mongered as well.

Trying so many different things that just dont seem to stick for me for one reason or another. Its really not necessary to do all this stuff, and for people with sensitive skin, a lot of this stuff just ruins our skin more. RIP to all the kids with sensitive skin who are going to suffer till they learn they dont need all this stuff.
