I'm happy to share Bach's Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C Major BWV 564. This piece showcases Bach's genius with an exciting blend of old and new styles.
I would like to say a few words about this masterpiece: The opening (Toccata) features an improvisation-like introduction of virtuoso runs, a unique and lengthy pedal solo, and a complex contrapuntal section, reminiscent of a concerto. It’s special and rare that Toccata and Fugue are separated by separate movement: the Adagio. The Adagio was influenced by Italian styles, flowing into a brief Grave. This part stands out with its melody over a continuo-like bass and its Italianate harmonies. The third movement is a lively fugue with intricate dialogues between the subject and countersubject, showing Bach's innovative approach to fugue writing.
In my opinion, this piece truly stands out for its incredible variety and constant intrigue. It showcases Bach's genius and is undoubtedly one of his finest works for the organ.

I guess he has a certain absolute pitch. That would help at least when practicing, because then he would have the whole concerto in his head as if he was hearing it and just pressing the right keys, so he could immediately hear every single wrong note, which really helps when practicing.

Ein wunderbares Werk in sehr schöner Wiedergabe. Mir gefällt alles. Speziell hervorheben möchte ich den vollen, aber doch milden Klang in der Fuge, und auch das dort gewählte relativ ruhige Tempo. Du könntest das bestimmt weit schneller (fehlerlos) herunterspielen. Dass du es nicht gemacht hast, spricht für deine Musikalität!
Man spielt Bach nicht "herunter"!
Langsamer spielen ist schwerer als schnell spielen.

So besonders ist Auswendigspielen heutzutage nun wirklich. Darum geht es aber auch garnicht....eine musikalische Gestaltung des Pedalsolos wäre da viel wichtiger gewesen

Junge, Du bist einfach krass! Schon als ich den Upload gesehen hatte, war ich voller Vorfreude und das Thumbnail ist einfach nur herzallerliebst. Zwar dachte ich mir, mit BWV 564 hättest Du Dich um eine Nummer vergriffen, aber das Hören und Sehen war einfach ein Genuss. Im Übrigen liebe ich die Orgel, sie klingt viel voller, bzw. es hört sich nach einem größeren Klangraum an, als bei der Orgel, an der Du einige der letzteren Stücke (wie beispielsweise die Triosonatas) gespielt hattest. Beim Hören und Sehen dachte ich mir, entweder bist Du Teil der Orgel oder die Orgel ist Teil von Dir.
Das Adagio war hier diesmal aber wirklich melancholisch und natürlich sehr stimmungsvoll. Ich bin ja leider Laie, aber ich fühle Deine Leidenschaft und für eine Weile, als sei die Tür zum Himmel aufgestoßen worden und man hört den Gesang eines Engels. Vielleicht wirkt es verrückt, aber es fühlte sich immer wieder so an, als würdest Du nicht etwa ein Instrument spielen, sondern als würdest Du singen, als sei Dir Orgel nur eine Erweiterung Deiner Stimmbänder.
Danke für Deine Liebe und Leidenschaft. Für rund 15 Minuten konnte ich freier atmen und mich lebendiger fühlen.

Ach je, wie der Vivaldi, da hätte ich echt draufkommen müssen. Einbindung ist einfach: "youtube" in spitzen Klammern zu Becinn und am Ende. Dazu müsstest Du Dich aber dort mal registrieren :) (geht automatisch)
Ach, hätte ich natürlich draufkommen müssen, wie der Vivaldi. Kommentare mit html-Zeug werden wohl gelöscht: Ist einfach, nur spitze Klammern, schau' einfach im Quelltext bei Organ index. Aber registrieren müsstest Du Dich dann schon auch noch (geht automatisch). Clip ist eingebunden...

@@liebermannjan Well now you have me curious - What is the Pedal reed in the fugue ? The specification lists a 16 Bombarde but it does not sound like a Bombarde. Is it the Sordun from the Ruckpositiv coupled to the Pedal ?
@@AnthonyCelentano-tg6gp No 16’ at all. Trumpet 8’ throughout. Coupled the Basoon 8’ too make it a bit louder but couldn’t use the Bombarde since it’s extremely thick and heavy…
I enjoy thinking of the organ like it is an orchestra with all the registrations, range and power, etc. On the piano to play low notes the left hand has to move to that register but since the pedals are separate on the organ there is more independence of the bass line.
