Why do you think some people prefer Dirac over Audyssey or other room correction system? If you have/had Audyssey before you got Dirac was there a big difference? Tell us about Dirac and your experiences with the software! Just getting into the hobby? And Joe blew you away with big words like Impulse Response or FIR filters, that's ok! Come along the journey with us as we explore topics like this! Before long you will be teaching us a thing or two. And thanks for watching!

DIRAC uses IIR in the bass, presumably because it requires fewer taps as some convolvers have limitations here. The problem is IIR doesn't do phase correction, so no phase correction in the bass with DIRAC. Also, it's FIR filters that can produce pre-ringing, but clever algorithms should limit it so that it's not a bad. I think the big benefit with DIRAC is that it' hides much of the complexity of DRC, making it nice and easy to use unlike some solutions. Thanks for the hifi chat!

My avr has an option for phase ON/OFF. Does it matter if it is on/off after Dirac or don't matter?

Just a video tip, face each other like the movies for a better natural effect , i.e. in this video Michael needs to be on the right side facing Erin on the left side. Keep with the great info.

How much does Dirac change the sound of music? How noticeable is it once implemented vs listen to automated Audyssey room correction. Example in Marantz Cinema 30 running Roon. Thanks

MB works in conjunction with Dirac so you get the phase and timing correction from Dirac, and the optimal target curve with MB.
