I Paid $80 for a Faulty 1TB Xbox One S | No Display on TV | Can I Fix It?

- In this one I've purchased ANOTHER faulty Xbox One S, I just can't resist. Apparently this one had no display on a TV, and I was leaning towards a HDMI issue. The error being the Re-timer/Re-driver Chip which is just below the HDMI port. Have a look at how I remove it and replace with another one :)

Very nice analyzing and fix. I first thought the HDMI filter(s) might be gone but yes retimer/redriver/encoder whatever the name was the cause. Another one saved from the scrapyard 👍

I thought you could only use the SN75DP159 encoder ic for the Xbox One S.
The TDP158 is for the Xbox One X. However it seemed to work fine when you fitted it to this Xbox One S console. I know you didn’t have 4K on your test screen, but I’d be interested to know if 4K works on a supported screen. Not sure if you could try.

Before you solder retirement chip to board do you use some solder to chip before or not? (Prepare chip for soldering) :) thank you
Hey! I don’t actually, I just leave it as it is :) a lot of people tin the chip before putting it down :)

Nice work Joey 👏🏻👏🏻quick google Joey -Basically, a retimer chip (or IC - Integrated Circuit) ensures the signal outputted to your TV is synchronised correctly to display on your preferred resolution.

@JDT So I have an XBox One S I’ve been testing for a while now, it boots up but anytime a game is loaded whether it be a disc or digital it kicks back out to the dashboard... any ideas what could cause this??

@@JoeyDoesTech APU seems to perform just fine, there’s no sign of overheating nor does it overheat when it’s used, I’ll start replacing ram chips with known good ones I guess, I may even make a video on it... I guess I’ll know soon!
when i play any games on my Xbox one s the screen goes black and then it turns on again, do anyone can tell me what the issue is
i pluged a usb in to the fron usb port and sparked the port then the hdmi went off
