    Thank you so much for sharing your extensive bank of knowledge. Hugely appreciated. I plan on researching all the yarns you described.
    One of my favorite yarns is Drops AIR blown yarn. If you’re not familiar with it, it is a unique experience. It is wool blown into a woven tube, not spun. I made a cable sweater, even with this lofty yarn, the definition is beautiful.
    Also I love your designs and your knitting is beautiful.

    • @herbgarden.knitwear
      @herbgarden.knitwear  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks for sharing, Carry! :) I have heard a lot about Drops Air - both good and bad. Sounds like you were happy with the result you got. That's wonderful! I heard other knitters say, that the yarn did not hold up very well and that the items they made from Drops Air quickly lost shape and pilled a lot. I'd appreciate if you let me know about your experience after you have worn your cable sweater for a while - that would be very interesting to me. Thanks! :)

    This is the first time I have seen one of your videos. I am so glad you came up in my feed today and I have subscribed to your channel because I want to see more! Thank you for showing us such affordable, yet quality yarns. Before this video, the only yarns I was familiar with were the Sandnes Garn Line, the BC Garn Loch Lomond, and the Ístex Plötulopi. I am amazed at how reasonably priced these yarns are. I live in the U.S., so I will have to research where I can obtain these yarns and how much they will cost me! I am amazed at how in expensively you can make a sweater using as yarn as a cardigan. Because of how enthusiastic you were about the yarn, I am really hoping I can find the
    Holst Supersoft.
    Because I had never seen your videos before, I didn’t even realize that you were not just a knitter, but a designer! I love your patterns. And how nice that so many of the pieces that you shared were knit up in the blue color of these various yarns. That is one of the colors that I also gravitate towards, so I could really visualize how these sweaters, as well as the yarns, could work for me. I have a backlog of projects that I already have planned (and I already have purchased the yarn for them), but as soon as I see daylight, I look forward to purchasing several of your patterns and knitting them up for myself.
    You intrigued me with the yarn you used for the socks. I am just beginning to knit socks, and I was led to believe that you must have nylon in the yarn in order for the sock to have any longevity. I had always thought that making a wool-only sock would always lead to disappointment because the heels would certainly wear out. You may have convinced me that this is not at all true. We shall see.
    Hanna, it was so nice to discover your channel, and I look forward to viewing your other videos and podcasts. BTW, my granddaughter shares your name, but she spells it Hannah. ❤🧶🐾

      Dear Mikki,
      thanks so much for the lovely comment! I am very happy that you found my channel and this video was inspiring to you.
      I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you'll find some Holst Supersoft for a reasonable price where you live in the U.S. I really hope you'll like it just as much as I do. 🙂
      Regarding the Mondim sock yarn: I do feel that a sock with nylon in it does hold up a little better, but this nylon-free sock yarn is softer and perfect for indoor socks that you wear next to skin. I hope this helps!
      Warm regards,
      Hanna

    I wanted the Loch Lomond but I'm not sure I would say it's budget friendly. Not where I live in USA unfortunately. Depending on where you buy it and the color you want I've seen shops selling them for 14$ usd. So for a sweater we are looking at hand dyed prices.

    I really love drops yarn. I look for the ones that are 100% alpaca or merino, usually I get the puna one. they have decent colour range, but most of all it's incredibly cheap for being 100% alpaca wool

    I'm knitting with Plötulopi while watching this, with an order of Holst Supersoft on the way 😄
    But I have to say, Plötulopi is very scratchy (haven't washed it yet, I hope it will get softer). But I recently tried Manchelopis after it was mentioned in another podcast, it is organic wool from Spanish Manchego sheep. It is MUCH softer than Plötulopi and around 8 EUR / 100g in a German online shop ;) but the colour variety is not very big yet.

      My guess would be that the spinning oil was included in the calculation beforehand and that the stated yardage is correct. But of course I don't know for sure. 🤷‍♀️

    I love the video and the yarns. I am very interested in the brioche cardigan pattern that you made with Plutolopi. It is wonderful. I love plutolopi yarn. When do you plan on releasing the pattern?

    hello Hanna ! I really love knitting and would like to get into working in this area, may you give me some advice about how to work in this area? I'm not major in knitting. Sincere thanks!

      Hi Xueyu,
      I am sorry, but I don't think I am much of help when it comes to this topic. I wish I could work in the knitting industry, too, but it's very difficult to get a job in this field that pays enough to pay the bills. I only design aside from my actual job and in my free time. It's not how I make a living. I am sorry, that I cannot be of more help. I hope you'll find the information you are looking for.
      Warm regards,
      Hanna

    Do you have to block sweaters each time you wash them?

    • @herbgarden.knitwear
      @herbgarden.knitwear  Před 3 měsíci

      If you refer to blocking as in pinning your knits to a mat, then the answer is definitely no. Actually you don't need to do this for most knits on the first wash either. At the end of episode 8 I talk in length about my advice for blocking. If you want to know more about how I block my knits and also about common misconceptions when it comes to blocking, then please check it out. ❤️

    is holst sturdier after you wash it? I have some but it feels kinda brittle and breaks easily, I am not sure if this is because i havent washed the spinning oil though. I want to use it for a project but I am concerned with the durability as this is something special that I would like to last.

    • @herbgarden.knitwear
      @herbgarden.knitwear  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for your message, Bailey! ❤️ To be honest, no matter which color of Holst Supersoft I used, I never felt that it breaks easily - neither before nor after washing. Have you tried different colors? Or maybe there was an issue with just the one that you had at hand? I am sorry that I cannot be of more help with this question. For me this has never been an issue.

    • @herbgarden.knitwear
      @herbgarden.knitwear  Před 3 měsíci

      No, I don't feel like my knits made from Sandnes Line have grown after washing. In my experience the yarn holds its shape beautifully and it doesn't pill either. My tees all still look brand new. I hope this helps!

    I know it's been a while, but I've just stumbled upon your channel today. I did want to perhaps spur some thought about organic yarns. If you desire organic products for personal reasons, this wouldn't apply. But if you use organic yarns for environmental reasons, it may be better not to. Organic farming has a much lower yield per acre compared to conventional farming, thus requiring greater destruction of natural habitats in order to produce a similar amount of product. Just a thought.

    • @herbgarden.knitwear
      @herbgarden.knitwear  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for sharing, Virginia! Yes, I read about that, too. It's a very difficult topic in my opinion and it's so hard to make the right choices as a consumer. Organic (animal) farming is supposed to produce more CO² than converntional farming, while conventional farming is more harmful when it come to perserving biodiversity. Organic farming surely isn't perfect, but I feel there is a lot of room to grow. Whereas we already know that we cannot continue to do traditional farming as we did because it is too harmful. 😞 How do you go about this? How do you decide which yarn to buy and which not?

    • @VirginiaBronson
      @VirginiaBronson Před 6 měsíci

      @herbgarden.knitwear Yes, big fields of monocultures is terrible for the environment. But organic farming doesn’t escape the monoculture effect, either. It’s the same in that respect. Because of that, it’s less harmful overall to go with a process that produces higher yield per acre so as to need less land devoted to farming overall.
