The avatar one was very obvious to me, not because he didn't match the style, but because I watched the show too much to know that didn't happen

He could’ve replicated the style perfectly but my heart would’ve been like no because I can’t remember the story behind that frame or it doesn’t play out the scene in my head
The problem with the toph screenshot is her bending style. Toph does not just levitate rocks, she punches or kicks them out of the ground. Her bending style is very connected to the ground to reflect how she has to be connected to the ground in order to "see". If sure were to float rocks like that, they would immediately become invisible to her.
now that you mention that, it's suddenly so obvious. Toph is blind, so she would never focus so hard with her eyes either
I could tell it was off from the lighting, the red lighting of the rocks was very strange. Also I recognised all the other screenshots

@@roansonnemans422 actually(i know i sound like the meme but let me be), magma bending was established in the winter solctice episode where avatar roku inhabiting aangs body does some magma bending and covers the whole island with igneous rock and is later revisited when showing avatar rokus memory where he fought a volcano and he used magma bending multiple times(ik, ik, i am a nerd)

Avatar was the easiest one (because instantly recognized the episode for the other 2 screenshots) and Mickey was the hardest one (like, that compression looked way too real)
and im pretty sure toph has never been to a vulcano

The Mickey Mouse one was so easy to me, I could just look at it and tell it it wasn’t Mickey Mouse, same with the Fairly OddParents one. I think I just have a sixth sense for my favorite TV shows.
The mickey mouse one i found easy because he did the eyes wrong
I immediately knew that the drawing with toph was the fake one because
1. Toph's face looked weird
2. Sokka has never made a face like that (he might've, but if he has, then it was definitely more realistic)
3. I knew which episode that the drawing was refrencing and that it wasn't in the episode
4. I knew what episodes the other screenshots were from

pretty much all of them tricked me into faking a memory of seeing that scene,
aside from both the first drawings of Doremi by Mari & Yokai Wach by Zepn,
my brain was like "oh yeah, Mung totally made chowder cook him to make the chefs special & Toph fought in the firenation arc alongside Sokka for sure"

The cartoons each artist chose were similar to their art style. It shows that ppl develop in the way that their childhood influenced them.
For the chowder screenshots, the fake one had a different lineart technique, and that's how i got it right

For me, it was Chowder's face being slightly off model 😂. I knew instantly lmao
SAME, chowder looked way too smooth, WAY too polished, that angle made him look a little bit off.
mung daal just didn't look right, also chowder's clothes shading wasn't the same
i immediately recognized harry at 0:22 and i instantly went "Oh god they are doomed"

As a HUGE Avatar The Last Airbender fan, I immediately spotted the fake one. I just didn't trust those thick lines, and Toph's expression wasn't quite right, though Sokka's face is well made. (Overall, the whole fake screenshot was absolutely beautiful, so if I didn't watch this series multiple times, I would believe It was legit)

Panty & Stocking was honestly a genius choice from a meta perspective. The artstyle changes mid episodes, their outfits change all the time, they have inconsistent outlines and sometimes colors, crazy expressions, and the animation style warps the characters bodies for exaggerated movement so a screenshot with strange dimensions could still be real. If your drawings look even close to the actual show then any minor mistakes or oversights dont even matter.

50/50 for me and those last two had me sweating
i immediately noticed that the first screenshot in the chowder one was fake, because im a really big fan of chowder, and also mungdal was too clean looking, looks too modern

The main sign for me was the face.

The pupils were too tall, if they were circle they’d look more like chowder

I think that’s how I know, he puts too much effort into making it look like the style to the point where it doesn’t look right, even though it mimics it perfectly.
I gotta say, that whisper and Nate one looked SUPER authentic.
Since I am a massive atla fan I immediately knew what episodes the screenshots were from
Screenshot 1 is the blind bandit when Katara is like “how did she do that” when Toph beat the boulder (I know this because the blind bandit is my favorite episode)
Screenshot 2 is from the firebending master when zuko and Aang are climbing the mountain
I was so happy when I heard that avatar the last airbender was in here
The Blind Bandit is also my favorite. The two real screenshots immediately pop out when you’ve watched a show dozens of times.
I only found out because I’m almost certain there was little to no lava in ATLA until the sequel, with Katara I believe
@ColieSilo, there were 2 instances of lava bending in the original series as far as I know, the first was at Roku's temple and the second was the creation of kioshi island

Fr fr and I almost went with the Wanda one and then I looked at the hair and all of them were really round except Cosmo so I switched
I got it from the legs. The feet and knees are too round. They are always pointed when bent.
the part that gave it away for me was the line between the teeth and lower lip. in both the screenshots it was perfectly straight but in the fake one it was curved. also the angle the hand was at seemed a little too perfect compared to the other two.
I instantly knew it was the Cosmo pic because of the crown color and width
Man, I was on a streak, until Harry Gold's Mickey Mouse's screenshot came in.

I have been binging the Avatar series for the past week and knew instantly that number 3 was fake. I remember the Blind Bandit episode which is where screenshot 1 was from. Screenshot 2 was from Firebending Masters which I finished yesterday. You did good with the artstyle. I do have a question for you. Do you consider Avatar an anime? This is a very controversial topic and I'd love to know the reason for your answer.

2:01 I haven’t seen the answer yet but I’m with Marikyuun on the background blur since I’m not sure if cartoonists do that. A blurred background in a cartoon without being from a 1st person perspective would seem odd.

8:54 Funnily enough, her being in that outift was the exact reason why I knew it was fake. The time where she was in that outfit was only during their stay in the fire nation IIRC, and I knew that there was never any kind of lave around where they were staying, let alone a big fight like that in a cave! You would have gotten me otherwise, I assumed it was a melonlord scene at first but the outift was what did it for me.

With the avatar one I got it right away. I even knew the episodes. First one: is Blind Bandit. 2nd: is Fire bending masters. And third is fake. With the addition that although avatar dose has some anime reaction faces, it dosnt tend to be that extreme/used in that way much.
That avatar gesser game really got me preped.

At first the Cosmo one seems legit but then I realised it actually had many differences. The curvature of the mouth is very iconic with FOP and cosmo’s mouth was less curved that wanda and Timmy, the shoulder is also different, the crown is smoother less spiky, the finger lines are angled while the real ones are straight. His teeth is also angled lines while real ones are straight. Overall he looks amazing and only when you nitpick can you spot the differences :D
I love how in depth yall go to figure out the fake. Its fun to watch good job!

For the chowder one i get their reasoning. Makes a lot of sense but the fact that chowder's hat was SO far away from he's eyes is what gave it away as SOON as that image came up so i knew it was the first one.
The avatar one was tricky, but Toph's expression was quite off from the normal show
Yokai one is the mouth and proportions are the giveaways
as a huge panty and stocking fan. the first one was a dead giveaway given proportions and the fact that she likes SWEETS not salty/savory food

The ones that fooled me were Panty & Stocking and Mickey Mouse. The Doremi was very close to fooling me, but I saw how the background was different for the first one compared to the other 2.

Wowza these were all so good. I got every one correct exept the first Chowder screenshot. I even thought that its weird that in the first picture Chowder's hat has 4 lumps on one of it sides rather than 3 lumps like in every other picture but I still guessed 2 because it was so sus. The burgers that were on fire emmited a shadow, that makes no sense. Anyway amazing video and I want to see more :)

I got all of them right, mostly because I know how the animation pipeline works. First one, lines are too clean, and the second one, it doesn’t make sense in a “movement” sense.

This is such a cool video idea! I loved playing along to see what’s real and what’s fake.
Always pay attention to the lineart and the quality of the pictures to tell the difference.
The chowder one was easy to spot because the lineart was much more cleaner compared to the other two images
I was playing along guessing, and the only reason I got Harry's fake Mickey screenshot right is because I had already watched the other two shorts so I new they were real haha (also I'm surprised I managed to guess all the fake screenshots correctly, yay!)
