  • I purchased a Wrecked 2007 Honda CBR1000rr and rebuilt it back to stock. It did not require too much major work, i replaced headlights, upper fairing stay, clutch reservoir cap, fairings, and had to sand and paint the rear rim and both motor cases.

      Dylan Wilde it’s because this isn’t a fucking rebuild. He just repaired a few minor things that anyone can easily do. But other youtubers have to take apart most of the car and replace and rebuild everything. The only thing this guy “rebuild” was the speed gauge housing

      I don’t see negative comments here. I see a lot of concerned people viewing his repair work. Whether he’s keeping the bike or selling it, the first and foremost biggest question should always be “Is it safe to ride?” Especially after a crash. Check the alignment, check the suspension to see if the forks are suitable for riding or if that too needs to be repaired, check the engine, plugs, drive, etc...he’s young, he’s determined which is great but he should definitely be looking into all the small pieces and not just the cosmetics.

    Personally I would have bought that Red Bull Infinity fairing again stylewise. Looks like the owner just put nice things on and crashed it. Just look at the Yoshi, seems to be brand new.
    But well made video on the rebuild, just happened to me with my 08 600 RR aswell. Only a low speed slide on the right side, so not too much broken. (clutch cover looked like yours, indicator broke off, brake pedal bent, bar end cap (if you wanna call it that) ripped out, throttle assembly broken and rubber cut/melted away, and basically the whole right side fairings at tank height looking like shit due to the scars.
    Just waiting on the fairing kit to arrive, sits at the german customs for a week now. Waiting will be worth it, since its another Rothmans replica kit.

      @@mathiasnkristensen I agree with You about destroyed covers, are the most damaged parts visually after crasch. But after every crash it is essential to measure main construction points, especially when vehicle is from aftermarket. Process of rebuild is descripted as measuring -> diagnosis -> range of repairs -> repair or regeneration -> repalce -> measuring after process (it is short version). So repalcing few covers is a part of rebuild, not full. I want You to know, that I don't say, that it was bad work in the video. great job on the rebuild. It looks fantastic. couple of things I noticed you didn't do however. I would advise putting plumbers heat wrap on the inside of the mid and lower fairings. It will protect the fairings from the engine heat. Otherwise you will melt those fairings. Also you should use locktight on most of the screws you put on or they come loose over time. great job though. keep it up.

      hedayatomid Yes I put heat shield on the inside of fairings I just didn’t show it, and Honda doesn’t recommend putting Loctite on bolts like the case covers so I don’t, I only put it on stuff that really needs it

    It's generally a better idea to buff the rear/head lights to gloss after wetsanding them, you get a clearer more durable surface that way. You can even handbuff them using meguiar's ultimate compound or something similar.

      Why should anyone use some kind of torque specs for an engine case?

    • @Benjamminoutdoors
      @Benjamminoutdoors  Před 5 lety

      Miguel Covas technically everything has a torque spec but the cases to me don’t really matter, I’ll torque to spec for what I think is important.

      @@miguelcovas3295 because if unequal torque is applied u can leak oil or over tighten the bolts which then turns into a stripped bolt or threads. just some insight. I have over 20 yrs experience with motorcycle mechanics. u will learn the hard way😉 good luck🤞

    • @miguelcovas3295
      @miguelcovas3295 Před 5 lety +2

      Jason Bielecki I’ve been on motorcycles since I’m 7 never stop riding and almost never let anyone touch my bike I’ve done every repair that you can do on a motorcycle and never had to torque a engine cover, so maybe I’m lucky, I’ve rebuild the engine of an 2012 R6 2 years ago after a bad crash and the bike is perfect no striped bolts no cracked cases no oil leaks, I’ve just changed my cam shaft bearings in my Ducati 1100 again no leaks and no issues whatsoever. So I consider myself very lucky. With the Ducati I even learn that the clutch press does not need to be torqued and yes I’ve consulted a Ducati engineer because I did not find any specifications on the repair manual. So while you can make some sense you being a mechanic for over 20 years you know that it is not really needed. Any way respect to you and keep up the good work!!!

    Definitely one of the best back from the dead rebuilds. The color you had done is beautiful. Just wrecked about a week ago.8-12 week recovery, bike is in amazing shape. It's a 2018 cbr500r, looks like more than a 500, I put some effort into it. Now wondering what to do. About three oem fairings to buy but I was also thinking about getting an aftermarket kit and go a complete color change and still have the oem. Pride is hurt still fresh, but was wondering what you thought, or anyone that has an opinion or some ideas. Biggest problem so far is locating aftermarket fairing kit. Thought it would be easier. Anyway, any suggestions would be so welcomed. Stay safer than me
