Glad that you both got the 'shades, baseball cap and beard' memo.
pumpkineater23 Don't they make a lovely couple
@@SRT54 Well, yea. They're not, but they do.
artoo45 NSS
High Clone look 🤔😆😆
you probably dont care but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
Porsche ❤
You should stop by at RUF btw, theres only very few content of their amazing cars on youtube.
Definitely! I actually have a RUF muffler on my 1986 3.2 Carrera.
@@travis3810 Im jeally... the CTR Yellowbird is my absolute dreamcar.
@Travis McGowan how is the muffler? Is there any drown on long distance drives and is the top end howl still kept?
@@michaelfrank7447 It's really not bad on long drives and yes the howl is very much still there. Long story, but my mom has a friend who worked at RUF and we managed to do a swap between the muffler and a piece of pure titanium I had that he wanted to use for his workshop. Sounds epic and is very unique to the average G Series 911 I see at various car events.
Handbreak is off a garden hose :)
James please keep these modern classics coming. You're the market leader in this space!
hello brother
That is not an anti-roll bar. it is a strut stiffening bar.
I was just about to say exactly the same thing!
Yep
Aka strut brace
He literally knows nothing about cars which is even more annoying as it’s the only thing he does. Would it be to much to expect him to actually take some time to know what he’s talking about?
Also, there is a ZERO percent chance he “knew they existed”.
fun fact hes a family money idiot with no actual knowledge
and i thought the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau (lightweight) was rare, with it's about 80 cars produced. i didn't even know this thing here existed.
“I never shout out so loud in a car before in a while”
also Mr JWW : shout like hell in a AM Vulcan 2 month ago during the gumball Hahaha
Hearing dozens of heel and toe for the past few videos is very much appreciated sir
The unicorn cliche is no cliche when we talk about this one. 👌
Thanks for another great video.
And here's to half a million subs soon. 🍻
Truly one of the most special Porsche models ever made, and absolutely worthy of lust. I saw Canepa had one for sale a few months ago with no price listed and I definitely knew that it was one of those "if you have to ask how much it costs, you cannot possibly afford it" kind of moments. I do hope you have more classic Porsche content on your channel in the future...and very well done!
They used a shut-off valve for the handbrake. I don't know if that's genius, ghetto, or both lol.
All 964's are special, I missed the boat a few years ago, the prices have gone silly on them...
Another awesome video James. Huge fan of your work. I discovered you when you had the silver GT3 which I think you had wrapped blue. (or maybe vice versa). Regardless, you keep putting out more awesome content. The modern classic series is really fantastic, as so few people have access to these classics, let alone people who have the skill set to share with us on video. Keep at it man!
haha, great vid, and the Mercedes T-shirt was a nice touch.👍😂✌️
Wow you lucky guys that 964 sound absolutely amazing 👍.
I hope you get to drive it again soon🙏
Another brilliant video James!!! and YES you need to return to Germany & visit RUF & Tech Art.
You guys need to drive my 1989 930turbo pulling 420 BHP .... 2nd gear, floor it at 3,000 rev's and no way you two are gonna talk to that go-pro!!!!
Make it happen!!!!
Contact him, would love to see it
1989 Turbo is not a 964 Lightweight, I have seen one of these 10 years ago and it was 180K then , I have a 1M Coupe that would take your 89 Turbo
Fantastic car and great video! I used to own the 964 rs. You should drive without a passenger, the lower weight makes a huge difference!
Absolutely phenomenal. This was the best car in your classic series so far James. Love it.
This is the real Porsche sound !! Great vid James , loved every bit of it !👍
genuinely thought there was two James's when i clicked on the video... lol, loving the Modern Classic Series James, please keep them coming!
Enjoyed that James....thanks for sharing mate👍🇦🇺
Talked with the owner of a 964 NGT casually parked in the street one day: at first I though it was "just" an RS. But the NGT is still about 300 cars made. Had no idea a lightweight 20 models version existed: never seen one of these on the road. Great car and great vid: cannot wait to see the other cars the owner(s) of this 964 have!
Incredibly rare car worth close to $500k, i think Canepa has one for sale now in the US. Very cool for sharing on your channel.
Must be fun to get these messages from people who watch your stuff and trust you with their pride and joy!
You two look so familiar 😂😂
9:13 OH MY GOD THE SOUNDS 🥰
Quality content right here. I never knew about there being an even lighter 964 than the RS model. Thanks James! What an amazing car. I reckon this is the sweetspot in the 964 range being the ultimate in lightweight and how spectactular it is to drive.
Great video. I never knew that factory Porsche existed. Imagine trying to make a car like that now days. Nice Royal Oak btw.
Wonderful video , truly remarkable! Thank you as always , very informative 👍
Love that sound!!😍
I'm So thankfull for your delight content you share us everytime James.
Please keep going on this is immense 🤗
The sound is amazing! Well done James
Spot on James, stellar car!
25 yrs old too. Awesome, proper content James and Nick, thanks!
Fascinating car, great video. Please keep the modern classics coming. They're brilliant.
I like how the channel encompasses variety and very special ones for some of us who might not get to drive these cars in our lifetime. Good job.
Dribling the rarest 964 around corners in a Mercedes t-shirt. What a Boss
Great find! For whatever reason I don’t recall that car, during the 964 era. Thanks!
Good Brother, Success to channel Mr. JWW. 💰💰
I'm from indonesia
Awesome car 😎
Even a 964 C2 is loud, but that mega.
Don’t know what sound was better. The engine note outside the car or the giggling coming from the inside. 😀 Thanks for the ride!!
I have been checking every day since February on Mrjww to put another classic car review, for some reason he does very well and I enjoy every minute watching those classic cars it’s sooooo nice
Great video!! What a car! Best content 100% of the time... 👍🏼
That sound 🙃 great review 👏
Old 911s are soooo stunning
Great car, great vid 👍🏻
Yes. More please. More of anything they have.
Amazing video... Please keep this classic content going, specilly Porsche.
Mr JWW appreciate you bringing the joys of a wonderful wonderful car to the world of CZcams for the likes of us to enjoy. But a greater thank you to the legendary owners who have allowed you to do so, that person sir is a true legend.
James always get exclusive content. Awesome 964🏁💯✌🏻
I bet your new friends have a 959 ready for the next modern classics porsche video
I hoped you stopped by at Classic Remise Düsseldorf?
Uploads with special cars like this are a pleasure to watch.
oddly just read about this existing the other day on a forum and never thought i'd see one, so thank you for this. awesome. i need a Porsche.
Hi James...What a find! FYI, that's not a completely seem welded chassis. There are spot welds with seal sealer. Seam welding adds weight so I would imagine that only certain parts might be seam welded, especially those that are key to chasis rigidity. The cage adds a lot by itself. I'm still marveling that it's that weight with AWD and still maintains all that glass. Those factory rims aren't the lightest either.
Laural and Hardy with beard's. Just love it!!! cheers.
Also that white convertible was a 1967 or 1968 Ford Mustang.
What a rickety old banger! 😂
What a finale to the trip 👍🏻
964 'Package' cars (non-Flachbau Turbo S) are more rare. Total production Flachbau Turbo S with normal front facia was 15 cars in total and only sold in North America as 'The Package'. The Flachbau itself had a total production run of 76. Prior to that, the preceding 964 Turbo S (3.3L available from 1991-1993) was in fact sold with a Leichtbau (light weight) option. Turbo Leichtbau examples had a total run of 86 cars. All of these examples mentioned are some of the rarest production 911s. Also, they are some of the last truly handbuilt Porsches as the introduction of the 993 (while the 964 Turbo was still being hand built) introduced the mass production, automated assembly.
I generally don't like the D90 wheels, but they look pretty good on this.
Even the Italians that made the F40 are like….”eyyahh, you’a crayzee!!!!”
Gotta love that Porsche.
Now that's a proper track focused car!
Perfect Ring Tool but the location of Classic Days Schloss Dyck is also a good place to go. 😎💙
Love the 964. Will own one for sure one day. I went with the 993 for my first air cooled so not complaining.
It sounds fantastic, cant beat the sound of an older 911 👍
Fabulous car and video.
Hard to believe these 964's were the stepchildren of the 911's (except maybe for the 996 chassis). I have this same motor in a 95' 993 NB. It's awesome. Is the red light to the right of the dash a shift light?
I like your mercedes shiiiirt James 😍 congratulations for what you became! You are brilliant so i would choose you to be my mentor 👌🏼
SUPER FUN! Well Done indeed. Wish you spoke more about motor. Is it NA? Thought I heard waste gates between shifts..
What a machine! You mention at the end that it's a Carrera 4? Does that mean it's 4wd? I thought all Carrera 4's were widebody too?
Edit: I just did some research and in fact this one has the 959 drivetrain!
Wow you lucky bloke you! Those lightweights are so rare, and I thought they were only ever in GP white from the factory. Their sound is better than a standard 964RS. Wow nice one boys
The owner can put a Lithium battery which is 70 percent lighter than a lead acid battery.
I think he may be advised to keep that extra bit of weight up front...
@@mitchellsteindler I think that's not needed, due to the front differential.
A very close friend has a few excellent cars for your modern classics series James, Diablo SV, 430 Scud, TVR sagaris, 964 Turbo, all less than 20,000 mile excellent examples 😍
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to l hear this car.
Amazing special Porsche!! But does anyone know why they made this model 4WD?
Very special! Makes me want to buy a bare 964 and build my own lightweight/outlaw classic Porsche 🤔
Such a gem...it should be driven more often
5k miles in decades is sad to hear.
Sounds fantastic.
Hi James, phenomenal video. You were talking about the Dakar running gear, is the car running just the 964rs engine and everything else is from a Dakar Porsche? (959 Dakar oder the 911sc?) Also how did they manage to shave off nearly 60kg over a 964 rs N/GT which also doesn’t have sound deadening and almost no interior? Cheers!
That sound is to die for
Awesome car!
Luftgekühlt ♥♥♥
I want footage of the pair of you navigating that roll-cage to get in and out of the car!
The legendary track focused and diet free 964... One of my dream garage adds in the future...
Please please, Keep contact with that owner and make great content as u always do!!
I had an 964RS between 2000 and 2004 , before the prices went ballistic. It used to get a regular thrashing on track and road. 150KG less seems madness - the RS wasn't exactly porky ( sic ). Mine had a genuine 300 BHP ( cup bypass etc ) and I saw 280 KPH on a number of occasions, at which speed it was rock solid. With no brake servo, AC or PAS that lightweight would really get you sweating on a hot day.
that's special, super cool
I remember seeing one of these at a PCGB event at Highclere Castle around 2000. The one in question was white and belonged to a collector called Brian Burrows I believe. We knew it was a unicorn even then. At the time people were quoting build numbers as low as 4no.
Maybe check the tire pressure? :) Great video
would love to see a review on sl 65 amg
Wow what a machine James..what a machine..ps i think i glimpsed your tire pressure sensor on..early in the video
Yeah I’d just got off the Nurburgring - adjusted pressure for the shred! 😜
Always have a soft spot for Air-cooled 911.
Those old school Porsche's are the tipical classic elegance. Its beautiful. If I would one criticism that would be those goofy wing mirrors. Those are not for my taste. As a super rare classic I wouldn't change it but still.
Whats weird is they could have easily made it even lighter. As you say plexiglass side and rear windows plus the the magnesium wheels off the RS instead of the Design 90s which weigh loads! Also no brake duct instead of front fog light but they have saved the paint on the headlamp surrounds!!
This is the sort of Porsche I fell in love with in my younger days. I was living in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, working for Sequoia National Park. After work I would take a friend or two down the mountains to town, and I will never forget the expressions on their faces. I stayed well within the limits of the 911, but they were in shock and awe. I had driven the roads so many times that I knew them like the back of my hands. So I could FLY!!! I was never scared, but they seemed to be. And they always came back for more!!! THAT WAS FUN!!!!! If I had a 964 Carrera Lightweight like this it would have been perfect!!!! :[]{{}}}:`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·.¸¸:[]{{}}}:
Rocking the mountaineering sunnies.
So cool!!
