- Hello everyone and welcome back to Inside Arsenal.
In today’s show I reflect on last night’s game between Spurs and Manchester City which leaves City top of the table with just one game remaining. I give my thoughts on the result and what it means for Arsenal, while also sharing what some of you have said and discussing transfer speculation linking Xavi Simons with Arsenal once again.

1. Love our team, couldn't have asked for more this season.
2. Xavi Simons for 50m is the stuff of dreams.
3. Gotta laugh at Ange borderline mocking the journalist on Monday for suggesting Spu*s fans would be supporting City last night, only for him to get into a fight with his own fans and basically pull a Conte 2.0 speech after the match. It is the history of the Tottenham.
If only we beat them home eh?
I asked for a single trophy. We got zero 😢
@@RichardStone-xk2pxThat was a long time ago, should've beaten Villa at home.
Tottenham is classless and trophyless. There are constantly in our shadow. I don't even know why they are our rivals. They aren't on our level
@@javaldunn887 If only we beat them home eh?
In terms of being proud, totally agree and I think pride is not always helpful! However if I was able to get a ticket for Sunday I’d be advocating for 5 minutes of applause from the whole stadium for the first 5 minutes to say thank you for the joy and entertainment they’ve brought this season.
10:17 is where I fast forwarded too.
don’t wanna hear about 115 anymore you becoming obsessed with it.
Just focus on we are doing. It’s 11 v 11 on the pitch and we are not that far away. Talk about our progression and how we look going into new season.
@@TheDjSweetsintegrity is the most fundamental aspect of sport.

Martenelli still learning his trade and some fans talking about selling because of recent form. I despair
He’s average
@@Anteater23 You're below average!
Do u think Phil Foden and Haaland are still learning their trades too?
@@RichardStone-xk2pxGo support Man city.
Whole season is the same as recent form? I'm curious 🤔
People keep saying “City haven’t actually been proven guilty” or “they’ve allegedly broke rules”…. NO! Everyone seems to have forgotten that in 2020, UEFA found City guilty, charged them, and banned them from European competitions for 2 years. Unfortunately, due to changes in European law, CAS overturning the charges because the breaches were time-barred. “Not guilty” is not the same thing as “innocent”. Getting away with a crime doesn’t mean you didn’t commit the crime. The evidence was presented for all to see back in 2020. They are guilty! They just couldn’t be prosecuted under current European law.
Get Simons all day!!!! He's a top class player ❤❤❤ 50mil is bargain!!!
Yup
Many of the West Ham players will never win the league. Sunday is their moment to be remembered forever in football history. The team that stopped city winning 4 in a row. That's some incentive!
It's been a fantastic season! Proud of the lads, it's a shame I can't be on Holloway road on Sunday but this season is a massive building block for next season. Big summer ahead to close that gap! #COYG
Whatever happens on Sunday, I am happy and proud to be an Arsenal fan. I remember feeling so crushed this time last year at the way things deteriorated. This time round, there is so much room for optimism. Really looking forward to being more competitive in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup next season also, now the squad is so much stronger.
For 50m Simons is a no brainer, can play on both wings and the number 8 role. In my opinion, he goes straight into the first 11 or 12. Even if you don't think that is the case, Arsenal can not only sign 90m players that goes straight into the first 11, with more games coming next season there will be a need to rotate. Remember how the team ran out of steam in December this season before Dubai and that cost us. We need to be able to rotate for that no to happen again, Simmons for that price is the perfect deal, get it done!
Simons is a fantastic player and would bring a whole new dimension to the Arsenal attack.
Would absolutely love to see Simons!!!! What a player
Arsenal will win the league come Sunday...I know that 100%
Yeah,,,I feel so too..
Would be wonderful
Xavi Simmons would be a great addition. A genuine world level talent.
I hope the emirates is rocking Sunday, it’s what the players, manager and owners deserve. There’s nothing else Arsenal could have done this year. City get everything their way, even if ya ignore the 115. Arsenal robbed by VAR against Newcastle and Villa away to name a few-never happens against City. Villa playing their third choice team against them in the run in. No derbys apart from Utd, meanwhile Arsenal have 6 or 7 London derbys with everyone busting a gut to beat them and lying down against city.
Son in any other game is putting that in the bottom right corner without any thoughts. Unlucky but thos squad is immense, we go again, COYG!
Everyone seems to be forgetting that there's still 1 game to go. It's all to play for.... now let's fecking 'ave it you Gunners.
Didnt watch, no surprise, they are crap, we have to learn & come back leaner, meaner & with new talent in weak areas & where we need cover.
charles, i never understood the pain of liverpool fans went through getting 97 points and not winning the league against city. Now, it hurts me more than a break up from a relationship. Its that 10 men fulham game and aston villa at home that cost us
Spot on Charles. Until the City fiasco of PSR/FFP manipulation is dealt with by the FA then NO ONE can see City's "trophies" as anything other than tainted. Both Liverpool and Arsenal should/would be ahead of City in the relevant seasons had the relevant points been deducted like happened to Forest and Everton.
Keep crying about 115 like that’s any of our business.
@@TheDjSweetsif you’re invested in the premier league then it’s your business
Bringing tears to my eyes with those words around 11 mins there. Charles. It's a pleasure to be an Arsenal fan now, and glad to have you as a prominent voice discussing our club :)

Any so called Arsenal fan who would sack Arteta for failing to beat a club hell bent on using money to avoid blatant financial manipulative cheating should go and support the spuds. Thier short sighted unenlightened views will be welcomed there.
Thank you Mikel Arteta for allowing us to dream once again at a time when it seemed we would never see the light again
Hey Charles, thanks for the great content as always. I've noticed a fair amount of what sounds like phone interference going on in your last few recordings. I'm not sure if you're leaving your phone somewhere near your mic, but it might be worth putting it into flight mode or leaving it out of the way of your recording equipment. Keep the videos coming!

Which game? Even David Moyes already conceded the game.
Thanks, Charles. Very level headed response as usual. Any suggestion of letting Arteta go is madness.
Im a huge Arsenal fan but 115 charges and PGMOL corruption makes one wonder what sport integrity that people bet on when it's out come is like professional wrestling. How can you tell your child that "cheaters never win?"
I have followed Simons since his academy Days and at first sight i knew he was an Arsenal player. Same conviction i had about Odegaard. Let's bring him Home.
I love Simmons his explosiveness and energy . He is young but experienced . He could be our Oscar Bobb .
On point Charles! City is a machine and has proven that over the last decade. I do believe we will win the league very soon. Arteta and these players have turned the Club around. I am proud of the team. On we move! COYG!
To be fair, Tottenham's players were professional. However, Son genuinely looked like he was representing the fans who didn't want to win.
I certainly agree with you here! He never looked like he wanted to score
Charles Simons may be young but he has the quality to make an impact in short time! Elite dribbler and creative. Can cover no 8 and lw. No brainer. I dont see many players who are available and can make immediate impact in midfield or wing
man xavi simons we totally need him coz he drive the ball foward en the best thing abt him is his vasatility . He is areal gem man
i mean he can be our own foden
Charles, i'm sure you've seen Sam Dean's article that Arsenal are front runners on signing Sesko. I understand the fans going against him because he hasn't scored 30+ goals in his career nor he has proved much. But i think it's more reasonable signing. He's young, versatile(able to play out wide), loads of experience and has a very rapid growth in his career. He's a cheaper option then Oshimen or Gyokeres which would allow us to put some more money on quality winger or midfield signing. He is the sort of project signing and player that ticks a lot of boxes. He might not be the Erling Haaland type of signing, but i think we can make him into our very own Sesko type of signing with that much potential he has.
No I'm not disappointed, we are talking about Spurs after all 🤷🏿♂️
@Charles The Son miss was equally painful for myself. It brought back the incredibly painful memories of Thierry Henry through on goal in the Champions league final against Barcelona c. 2006.
I think, reflecting today, that I was more distraught by Thierry's miss but I couldn't believe it last night.
Also, incredibly disappointed at the spuds fans whistling the goalkeeper who'd just been ko'd by Hjolberg. Plastic supporters through and through.
Xavi for 50m is an absolute bargain! Left sided 8, both wings and is absolutely rapid. He’s the type of X-factor player we need who’ll just receive the ball in a tight area and make something happen. As a La Masia graduate him and Arteta would read the game similarly which is another big pro. His range of passing, dribbling and technical ability will give us something similar to that Xhaka-Martinelli duo which made him so effective last season compared to right now. He’s got insane technique and I’ve seen him play so many through balls trivela or normal which catches the opponent off guard.
The only downside is his lack of physicality and height which has always been a trademark of our midfielders but I’m sure we’ll make it work. Please Edu get this deal done, I’d go as far as 65m quid (remember he’s only 21, been on multiple loans meaning he is a good learner, so much talent there)
There’s absolutely no way in hell his price remains 50m as we go through the window. Clubs will come in and push the price up.
Great content Charles
Thank you
Past 3yrs... weekends have been good with arsenal...❤
Great video Charles, looking at the last 10 games we barely put a foot wrong. Think the difference is KDB and Haaland, I think we need that elite game changer (id love Leao) to help us over the line.
Deluded gooner gonna love the simmons link
And i do too, Saka and Simmons sounds firrrrreeeee
There was still 15 minutes to play after the Son chance, they still would have lost. I watched the game, thought Sp*rs weren't bad but some of the passing out was suicidal.
Xavi Simons is very similar to Ethan Nwaneri in style from what I've seen. Wouldn't he hinder Nwaneri's progress into the first team? And being so young he wouldn't be going anywhere soon?
I think I'd go All In on a replacement for Partey. Past his best, still some monetary value and into his 30s. I'd go for Zubimendi personally
There is something about Xavi Simmons that makes him look like a star to me. I’d take him all day every day at that price 💪🏾
The most impressive thing about arteta is that he pushed all the way for the league without any world class players, whilst city have about 10
Charles, I couldn't agree more that I'm so proud of this Arsenal team for what they have done this season. 2nd or 1st on Sunday, this team has shown they have the ability to go against the best of the best. Nobody should be looking back on games like Villa or Newcastle thinking "what if"... this is football and loses will happen! Think about the progress from last season to this season... can't wait for next season and what Mikel will have in store for us. This is a special time at Arsenal. We have been patient the last 4 years with Mikel and we will soon be reaping all the benefits of the trusting the process. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Any idea when the process is actually due to be completed?
@@RichardStone-xk2px I believe this has been reported on before but the process has 5 steps to it. We were ahead of schedule last year challenging for the title per Mikel, so my assumption would be we have 1-2 years left in it. I think the last step is sustaining at the current level we are at and winning.
The sad thing is Son will go down as a legend for that moment.
Imagine being known for throwing a goal. #spursy
Thanks for the regular and quality content Charles. I would love to see Simons at Arsenal and for £50m thats a good deal. We need to off load some players and maybe get in a midfielder and a striker as we will be well poised for another title charge next season.
Mbappe on the left. Perfect 😊
Simon's is a baller he could play on the left or central I see him in the same vein as Cole Palmer. Would be a great addition
What about Florian Wirtz? Surely would improve Arsenal more than Simons. He’s a generational talent and we can’t rely on Odegaard all the time. If he was injured there’s very little playmaking ability able to unlock defences. Wirtz can play wing, 8 and 10. Saves us buying two players.
Bruv love Wirtz trust me but he will go for 110mill max. Ain’t no way. Plus I think he’s staying at bayer coz of Alonso
My biggest worry with Simons is his physicality. Arsenal have built a very physically imposing team and even our relatively smaller players (odegaard, saka) bring a lot of physical prowess to their game. Xavi has no PL experience and I see him taking a while to bed in. Would still love the move given the massive potential talent!
Xavi Simmons would be a brilliant signing as he can play in cf, false 9, 10, right wing, left wing & wing back. Awesome player.
Hi Charles, Simons sounds like a good deal, another creative option up front. I hope the rumours have more credibility than the Pickford to Arsenal one.
On transfers, we all have players that we would like to come to our team, but I'm done second guessing Edu and Arteta. They've done an amazing job, and of course, they have tons of inside information I don't have. I'm trusting them to continue their good work. And when it comes to a difference-maker, we already have him; Trossard. Look at his accomplishments since getting his chance!
Now that it has been confirmed that we can make Six signings I would say bringing In Sesko,Simons and Diomande is 75% mission complete of having a unstoppable team the 25% would be to bring Zubimendi and Amadou Onana then one more full back depending which side is needed more
I got a feeling West Ham can do it for us, that game would be a Super Cup match between the CL winner vs the ECL winner. David Moyes is a good manager and he had Sir Alex endorsing him for Man Utd job. If Moyes manages to prevent City from winning the league again, it would be the perfect portfolio for his next managerial job wherever it is. City wasn't exactly like last year so anything can happen, only problem is I don't know if Moyes and the WHU boys are still bitter about Declan leaving them, that could be a dealbreaker. But I hope they're professional about it.
I actually think that was a great save from ortega. His positioning was good and son was gonna get it through his legs and in.
Next season we will have one of the two types of Klopp seasons post challenging City. We will either start on fire, get a large lead and go on to win the league, or we will fall off a bit and City will cruise to the league with no title race. Can't see a close race next season either way
If West Ham can do anything they can put up a low block I’m just hoping they’re defence can be resolute and keep city goalless. We need a miracle
Hey, is what it is. Shit happens, been a great season and cant wait to see the boys next season with an even stronger team, we go again.
Hello Charles I think if it was against arsenal and son get that chance 99% he would score that goal against us
If they get Simmons, then Arsenal will be equally dangerous from all flanks
What u mean goal difference doesn’t matter? If they draw and we win then we are Champions on goal difference. Great show as always. Im so proud of The Arsenal, great season, great football. Takes a lot to improve by small margins at this level, looking forward to what we do in the transfer market. Come on you irons! Do it for Rice! Don’t pop our bubble. COYG!!!
I can’t help but think that we are missing a trick with ESR, he’s not so dissimilar to Simons. I feel we will regret letting ESR go if, as we expect, we do so this summer
We are this Close to city without even having world class depth as them . Next season we'll be in a position where we can rest Saka , Havertz , rice and play potentially Bruno Guimaraes , Kudus and Sesko ...that's a sign of an elite squad
Funny how Son is able to score that exact same chance against Arsenal at the Emirates but can't do it against City at home. O well....we go again next season.
Today I feel so much hate towards city 115 charges and no explanation whatsoever but yet will be champions
I’d take Simons he’s a great player
Not difficult to explain, Son missed on purpose. That moment will NOT live long in my memory.
Tottenham gave a better account of themselves than I expected. Although I don't think Son tried very hard... he didn't dive once 😂
🤣😂🤣😭😭😭
Hi Charles,
Greetings from Germany.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the offside was not checked by var for the first city goal?
It looked close, but var did not draw lines to check the offside.
Charles do you have any thoughts on Team News & Tix's latest tweet that VAR did not check De Bruyne's goal vs Spurs? If this is true (TMNT never misses with his leaks), at what point do we acknowledge that this league has absolutely zero integrity? It's really difficult to get excited and interested in the Premier League these days when the club with 115 charges for cheating is winning its 6th title in 7 years, on top of them seemingly benefitting from basically every single refereeing decision possible.
Loved following you all season, keep up the great work.
I wonder if wirtz is available
Less reliving losing experiences Charles were already sad enough
I don't understand the antipathy towards Arteta by some. Look at the rebuilds that have been horrendous - Man U and Chelsea and the revolving door at Spurs with no improvement. He has a plan and it's working. We have a great team and a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium. Trophies will come.
They’re too stubborn to even admit that Mikel grew into his position and eventually proved them wrong. And they have ridiculously high standards for Arsenal but you can bet they don’t hold themselves to those standards, they’re often seen comment spamming “raise your standards” on every fan channel, because they get their knowledge from fifa and Lee “Gunner”. Let them wallow and moan they’ll be continuing to complain no matter what Arsenal do.
@@NakulKrishna Winning nothing for 4 years running "proved Lee Gunner wrong"?😂
yup that’s what hurts the Son miss. Guy scores worldies against us, Kulu nearly sneaking a shot through a freshly subbed on goalie which could have thrown off ortega for the rest of the match. Not over and still a great season if we don’t get it
hi Charles. Enjoying the content as always. I’d like to make a couple of points about last night’s game. In the first place, Tottenham didn’t cost Arsenal the league. It’s not in their hands because of the home losses to Aston Villa, West Ham, and the points dropped against Fulham. These are all games we might have expected Arsenal to win, but the fact is they didn’t. That’s the nature of league competitions. Nobody wins league titles by accident or fluke. I share your view that this Arsenal team has shown they have what it takes to win the league and while the season might end in disappointment, that shouldn’t be allowed to detract from a fantastic season.
Secondly, I think all this talk about how “Ortega won City the League’ is more than a little disrespectful to both West Ham and Everton. Arsenal have to stay focused and do their job on Sunday, because I don’t expect Dyche and Everton to turn up in party mood and simply roll over.
Finally, I have to say that Ange Postecoglou has gone up even further in my estimation because of his reaction to the antics of some Tottenham fans (including the idiot O’Hara). Anyone (I hesitate to label them ‘fans’) who finds something to celebrate in defeat, is someone who understands nothing about the psychology of elite sport or the characteristics needed to develop a winning mentality. I’d go so far as to say if your main motivation was stopping Arsenal from winning the league, perhaps the best way to do that might have been to turn up, compete, and win the North London Derby! It seems that tribalism, like stupidity, knows no limits.
Westham beat us at home even when we had 30 shots in that game. Hope football gods do the same thing again for city vs westham. 👏🏻🤞🏼
Would love him at Arsenal
Absolutely right IMHO and we need to keep Arteta for as long as possible for our dynasty and just challenging again for me is absolutely great
Normal time questions/comments:
Isak is a year younger than Gyokeres? I had no idea! That changes my perspectives on the two.
Argument for a semi prospect/younger striker like Sesko, now that Kai has broken through and we have Chido Martin Obi in the wings? I love his size too, now that we are corner masters.
Finally, let's offer a pay to play for Faiq Bolkiah, 26y winger in the Thai league, and member of the Brunei royal family. He's the nephew of the Sultan and his estimated net worth is $20bn. His pay to play can cover Isak's fees!
Hi Charles, the summer is some time away but what do you think our budget is before and after sales?
Also, do people call you Charlie?
Hi Charles , love the show man, quick question , next week will mark 4 years since we last won a trophy and with the title all but wrapped up when do you think Arsenal will win a trophy or major honor because at the moment as good as we have been the last 2 seasons with the money we've spent we have nothing to show for it particularly with the Manager contract coming up ?
And to think, if City only had one or two charges against them (like, say Forest and Everton), we would probably be champions on Sunday. Instead, 115 infractions later and City magnificently retain the title.
Charles is your phone near your laptop? Picking up interference on the video
Reckon Simons could play Lcm/RW and LW?
Mikel isn't going anywhere
He built this, brick by brick!
Hey Charles keep up ur good work .... If u had one choice between Bruno G for 80m or Gallagher for 50m who would you take ? Or would you sign both and sacrifice some other position?
I looked at MCs bench and the players watching last night…the depth is unreal and the biggest problem of their FFP “problems”….Son puts that break in 9 out of 10….just our luck….Simons would fit the bill, remember, everyone thought Trossard was nothing more than a depth buy…let’s go out with a win! COYG
If there was ever a game to show you that Man City aren’t playing the same Premier league as other top sides that’s the one. City go into a welcoming atmosphere where the opponents fans are very open to the idea of them Winning. Make no mistake that guy Son Heung Min was happy to miss that. I’ve always said that whilst they are clearly a great side City- the absence of genuine local rivalries is one that hands them a distinct advantage. Even Man Utd are way more concerned with Liverpool and I know a lot of Utd fans that are so numb to City winning that now they’d rather City won than Arsenal. Arsenal have to go through seasons now playing so many London derbies, Villa on top of that a unique challenge with a scorned manager that gave everything to beat us at the Emirates in a way he didn’t do at the Etihad. It’s a massive shame but hopefully this lets the players know what they have to do next season. I genuinely think we should have our sights set on going unbeaten - that’s how you’re going to guarantee this league title.
West Ham are very easy to score so it’s definitely over. Regardless, it has been a memorable season. Love this team and manager.
Hi Charles, very grateful for your daily show. I wonder whether Declan Rice will be on the phone to his old teammates to gee them up. I reckon they will try hard for him. They won't be good enough, of course, but I think they will have a crack (until Man City score their second goal).
Simons,Hato,Joao Neves,isak
I'll be over the moon if ximons come,he would help odegaard a lot in sharing creativity.
Wasn’t surprised Son did that he knew what it meant to the fans.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday......Spursday!
EXTRA TIME question by Andrew from Iowa, USA
How will the euros and Copa America affect transfer business this summer?
Of our outgoings, only Ramsdale should be on duty?
As for incoming players, Isak and Gyokeres aren't playing, Sesko is in England's group, Zubimendi and Zirkzee seem to be ruled out through injury but would otherwise be on duty. Guimares is with 2/3 of our Gabriels at Copa.
Interested to hear both of your thoughts.
If you're going to remember the Son chance in that game, you also have to remember the Foden chance on 16mins from point blank and the De Bruyne chance on 47mins..
it’s actually funny how massively hated we are and how much rivals twerk for Manchester city like they aren’t turning the prem into a farmers league. we go again Sunday.
Charles, James Benge made a good shout on Twitter about adding coach challenges to VAR. What are your thoughts?
Charles please put that phone on aeroplane mode or something interference with all your recent videos 😂 great video as always accept that annoying buzz
There is absolutely no way the prem league or the ‘independent’ panel can follow through with these charges. The money from the Middle East means too much. The best that other clubs can hope for is that a settlement is reached which includes an off the book breaking apart of the organisation, and future transfer sanctions and the sacking of Pep
