Brilliant trick with the top stop being pushed down with the gauge. Thanks!
Thank you! :)
Awesome great instructions.
Thank you
At 12:37 when you finished pressing and flipped the piece over, I actually went “Mmmm, nice pressing”. I’ve been watching one vid after another on zipper pockets, and I have to say yours was the nicest and neatest sample.
Haha thanks Janet! That's so lovely of you to say! :)
BEST TUTORIAL!!! Thanks for sharing.
Gosh thank you so much Jackie!!
Excellent teaching. Thank you.
Thank you so much Trudy! :)
best teaching I have seen yet....thank you!
Wow thanks so much Becky! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Enjoyed this video. I will refer to it often. Thank you for a comprehensive video
You're most welcome Landa! Glad it was helpful!
You have taught an old timer new tips for sewing. Thank you for such detailed explanations of each step. I love the video. It will be fun to practice sewing the zipper pocket.
You are more than welcome Ginger! We're so pleased you found it helpful and could follow along! Have fun with your practice!! :)
I have saved your tutorial on CZcams and have referred back to it, using this technique for a few bags & duffals. Helps to refresh my memory! Many thanks again for filming this!❤
I have normally just been making quilts for about 16 years, but I made a little bag for my granddaughter, and although I found it difficult, it was fun! (I learnt how from a tutorial on CZcams). So now I am making a bigger bag as part of a friend's birthday gift. Once I saw the fabric, I just knew I had to make it for her!! I am just at the stage of wanting to put in an inside pocket, and I have watched LOTS of CZcams Tutorials, but I really must compliment you, because your way of putting in the zip and the pocket is extremely NEAT and TIDY!! I am a perfectionist, which is difficult sometimes....& causes me to do a LOT of unpicking!! I just LOVE the way you have shown how to do this, and I am going to follow your directions. Thankyou SO MUCH for taking the time to film and edit this Tutorial. It is really, really GREAT!! I have subscribed, and I will be looking at more of your Tutorials now. Well done friend, across in New Zealand!! Love from Sue in South Australia xx
Hi Sue, lovely to hear from you and thank you so much for your feedback on our tutorial - I'm glad it was helpful!! I'm a little bit of a perfectionist as well, so completely sympathise with you on the sometimes frequent unpicking sessions. Welcome to the wonderful world of bag making! Happy sewing!
Great tutorial. Thank you
Thanks Tammy!
I just finished a zippered pocket using your tutorial & it came out perfect! Many thanks!
Oh wonderful! That's so great to hear!
Ive never made a zippered pocket so I watched a few tutorials to learn how to do it. Yours is the best tutorial, so easy to follow and understand and your work is perfect and so neat. Thankyou
Gosh thank you so much for your lovely comment!!
Excellent teacher!! Thank you for being so thorough!
Thanks Sherry!!
Absolutely excellent tutorial!!! Thank you SO much!
Thank you so much!
So GLAD a tutorial that's easy to understand! Thanks it's my first time viewing you video
Thanks so much Janet! That's lovely feedback!
Your sewing techniques are so professional. I like how you tied and threaded the zipper threads through between the layers of fabric to hide them. You are so good! Thank you from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA
Naw thank you so much Janet! It's humbling to hear our OCD tendancies are appreciated! ;)
I’m about to begin making myself a wool duffel coat. I don’t like the way the usual patch pockets look. I’m planning to make zipper pockets covered with a flap. This tutorial gives clear, precise information. Thanks!
Sounds like a great plan Kevin! All the best and happy sewing! :)
Nice way to make a pocket
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much. I have been dreading this. 😊
No worries at all and, hopefully after you’ve made a few, you come to feel more comfortable with them. 😊
Hi! I love the tip of the tape, and also... making sure the Stop is VISIBLE in the box. I broke a needle this week because I did not have the stop out of danger.
This is the best and most thorough video for this type of zip pocket! It also contains many useful hints and tips. This is how I make these zip pockets, and it works beautifully. Thank you for such a clear and professionally done tutorial!
Thank you so much Marsha! I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! Happy sewing! :)
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Jayden Quentin instablaster :)
@Brysen Roberto Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Brysen Roberto it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
Fab tutorial , it will come in very handy when I get back into my sewing, thanks for your time and patience to teach us all
Our absolute pleasure Karen! Hope you can get back to your sewing soon!
Amazing video. I have made these pockets before, but I picked up several (more than 2!) tips and or tricks. Not to mention your technique makes the finished pocket so professional! Nothing is left to look sloppy or unfinished, even though it's an inside pocket. Oh and I also learned about the back stitch button on the 350PE- hitting it twice locks it in back step mode) . So, thanks Lisa, this was one of the best tutorials I've seen in a long time.
Gosh thank you so much Linda! So pleased it helped and in more ways than one! Hopefully it has also been valuable in terms of seeing the quality of our video tutorials so you can be assured that our paid tutorials are just as top quality and well produced as the free ones. :)
Great tutorial.
Thanks Janet!

You're welcome!
I've made lots of zipper pockets but your tutorial was full of little tips and tricks that really gave a more professional finish. I really like the steps you take when turning the pocket through the panel -- I can't wait to try that on my next bag!
Thank you so much Kathy! So pleased to hear it was helpful! :)

No worries at all Christina! Glad it helped! :)
Very good
Thank you!
I am curious. Do you always use a walking foot when you are sewing?
Hi Estela! Yes pretty much all the time! The only time I don't use a walking foot is when I have to use my zipper foot, otherwise it's walking foot all the way as it makes things SO much easier!! :)
Where can I get a ruler like yours
Hi Barbara, from time to time I sell them but am not at the moment given how unreliable shipping is around the world and with Christmas coming up as well. I may do another run next year at some point, so feel free to keep an eye out on our newsletter for details of that (madmimi.com/signups/5907fcae488849be95814a413cd114e1/join),
Do you have
a tutorial for the Polly crossbar pouch?
Hi Pearl! Unfortunately no, at this stage I haven't made a tutorial for the Polly Cross Body Pouch pattern sorry.
What size opening do I need for a four inches zipper
Hi Chris, it depends how much gap you want at each end of your zipper but typically you'd probably start with a 4 1/4 inch gap (give or take). Hope that helps and happy sewing!
What size is your ruler and who makes it
What sort (brand) of tape was it? Luv your kiwi accent too. Great tutorial. Thanks! 😂🤣💕
Haha thanks Liz! The tape I use is just a generic one from my local quilting store called Wash Away Quilters Tape by Sew Easy. :)
