  • This Kitchenaid stand mixer stand mixer had been previously painted, and maintenance was attempted at some point. There were some seized parts. a few screws and washers where they didn't belong, but it did run. In the end it was all sorted out and works great! Got to love that aluminum bowl too!

That front attachment looks like a knife sharpener

Nice job. Red 'N' Tacky is not food safe grease. Maybe use Super Lube multi-purpose synthetic grease.

Hi Awesome job! I have my grandmother's kitchenaide standmixer model 3b which still works and would love to restore it. Would you be able to restore?

Love watching these vids, get a thrill when you get your screwdriver and try to get that "CheeseCake Crud" grease out of there, I must be a weird'o, lol. But, seems you had to fight with the device often, people who fix cars, know how to fix anything, usually

haha not weird at all, I love digging into old greasy crusty stuff! On your last remark, the Camaro I am working is proof that people who fix cars sometimes cant fix anything.. properly lol! Most of the work on that car was fixing what others have attempted to fix. It is actually on the road now, need to get it in for tires and alignment!

I love your videos. I was gifted a 3b and assume it needs a change of grease. Do I need to pull the guts out to change the grease?

Is that the robin singing at around 12:35 and after? As for pot metal it was my understanding that KitchenAid used Zinc for their castings... AMAZING color! I can totally empathize with overhaul nightmares, what with my KitchenAid Model H that needs so may parts repaired and fabricated from scratch 8-O ;-) As for the aluminum bowl, why didn't you sandblast it?

I'm not sure if that's the same robin or not, now that spring finally came we have all kinds of birds lol. I don't know about the metal, it may be zinc based, but I'm not so sure it is the same as the bigger models. Kitchenaid does seem to have the nicest castings by far, at least on their larger models!
The bowl actually looks quite good, sandblasting it would dull it out. It might be able to be polished up though, but I thought it looked great as it is.

I've got quite a few vintage Presto pressure cookers and they all more or less suffer from pitting and blackening - I've tried vinegar and muriatic acid and it helps, but only somewhat (the muriatic acid seems to make it worse). To keep them looking nice has been an uphill battle, I wish there were some sort of power scrubber that could be used to make them look good again. Man, it's difficult to have aluminum stay as nice as the day you purchased it ;-)

I think that is just aluminum for ya.. probably just need to keep polishing it lol
That is the one thing I always hated about the aluminum wheels, never stayed nice looking for long, they get that grayish dull oxidation layer, then get streaks and stains when you try to clean them.

How amazing! I’m in the middle of a restoration myself of a 3B! Could you recommend where to get new Kitchenaid stickers for the side? Mine have lost most of the red in them. Thank you so much for sharing! 🌸

@@andrewmatiabeegle9178 Thank you, and yes keep me updated! Honestly you can use any high quality enamel made for metal, the prep is the most important part. Clean clean clean surface! Have fun!!

Vintage Mixers and More Always having lots of fun! We picked out a nice white pearl and my husband is working away in the garage paint sand paint sand paint sand clearcoat! I should be able to peek at it when it’s nice and dry tomorrow he said. Do you by chance have any original KitchenAid IIIB decals hanging around anywhere that still have the paint intact? I am working with a design consultant to try and get some remade but mine are missing the red and black paint. 👎👎
