      It is a nice kit for sure. I am thinking of taking the snow plow parts and putting them on a 55 Chevy kit. DDSpeedshop edition 😁

    Your reference to the paint remaining soft happened to me when I used Testors enamel Copper paint on my first AMT Nomad wagon in 1998.

    I use Rustoleum paint,and don't seem to have any issues.I do use Tamiya can primer which is pricey. However, I DO NOT spray right from the can. What I have been doing is ordering 4 oz. glass paint bottles by the Dozen from Amazon.
    I decant the spray paint cans and release all the propellants. That takes 2 days. I transfer the paint into bottles.
    When I am ready to paint the model, I use a ratio of 4 parts paint to 1 part Lacquer thinner that I get at Home Depot.It goes on in multiple thin layers which dry very quickly AND the finish completely hardens.I give my bodies 3-5 days to completely gas out just to be sure. I just shot the AMC Gremlin Street Rod with Rustoleum Key Lime Green. It came out really good. I will say TESTORS is thee best. I do not trust acrylics for bodies. Anyway,nice job. I found your video cuz I have this very kit and wanted to see a review/build. Again,nice job !

      I have experienced this issue a few times and it only shows up if I apply pressure to an area for an extended period of time. I would like to try the Tamiya primer and as you say it is pricey, but the 40% off Hobby Lobby coupon helps.

    Glad to see what you did with your mirrors. I just finished this truck and could not get the two part mirrors straight. I ll follow your lead and just use one piece.

    • @NicksCollectableCreations
      @NicksCollectableCreations  Před 3 lety

      The 2 piece may look a bit nicer but I tend to break my mirrors off somehow so why complicate things. It has held together quite well though so far though.

    Turned out nice despite the issues with it. The indents left behind from the hair bands you used, that often can happen with enamels like Rustoleum. It's a reaction that happens from the rubber inside the hair ties and the cloth on them. Doesn't happen with lacquer or acrylics too much. Just depends on the formulation. But Rustoleum is a touchy paint for sure. The color looks awesome though! I wish I could of used this kit's frame for my Fall Guy truck with those double gas tanks. Some of those earlier Revell kits of this truck do have the open grill with them. I have an old snap tite of John's truck from the tv show Chips, it has the open grill. Good job on the build!

    That ones way better than the one I got mine didnt look smooth like your especially the axles they had a really rough texture and were just not straight at all and brittle no fuel injection just a single carb that was a blob couldnt really tell what it was and the gas tank was inside the frame mine had door panels though and the bed was one piece mine said gmc on the chrome tailgate panel...I guess I got an older reboxing or something.

    Wouldn't it be nice if Revell,AMT,MPC would start tooling their new kits like Tamiya, or even Mobeus ? Or I wish Tamiya would make American Street machines. I wouldn't mind paying $40 a kit if they made em like Tamiya .

    • @NicksCollectableCreations
      @NicksCollectableCreations  Před 3 lety +1

      I am glad to see old kits being re-released and in some cases they have been cleaned up. However I do agree it would be nice to see some new tooling instead of just a new decal sheet.

    If I may ask I just got done with a revell model I spray painted it (I don’t know if that’s the right way) I was wondering if you or someone could tell me the best way to paint it because mine would be like really bad looking. So my main questions are how did you paint it and did you use primer or finisher? Great build btw
