A bit late perhaps, but Thank You for the demonstration info and inspiration. I have looked at many galleries of Harley's work online prior to seeing this and must say that I'm blown away. As a wood carver/bait maker for several years now, I am currently setting my sights on detailed decoy carving. This video was a great find for me.

in the video he says the eyes get expensive so he painted his own eyes I've looked on taxidermy websites and the unpainted eyes are still around 5.00 a set

What is the tool used to carve the fin slots called ?
where do you get the pieces for your eyes ???
I think he just gets them from a taxidermy place or the same place a taxidermist would get them.

Not sure actually. I've done a few shows now on different carvers (fish, ducks, wildlife) so could be getting Harley's methods confused with others.

You can try to find the right sized glass cabochons. There's a lot of tutorials here on CZcams.
