    ========================================
    Ever since quarantine, home-brewing has become my daily driver. As it was harder to reach our local cafés, I started dabbling into espresso-making and fell quite deep into the rabbit hole.
    The first time I spotted the Noon East Coffee Maker, I couldn't resist its aesthetically chic and retro exterior. Best of all, the attractively affordable price point was what sold me. I've had the machine for a month now and thought I'd share some in-depth review, honest pros and cons about the machine and how I worked around them in order to try and achieve cafe-quality drinks. Bear in mind, the freshness of beans, a quality grinder and good technique are huge factors in achieving this as well. Check out my feeble attempt (LOLOL) at breaking down and explaining how I steam milk in order to create latte art for my drinks.
    Disclaimer: I am in no way a coffee connoisseur nor a professional barista. So please don't come for me with your pitchforks! haha XD Let me know in the comments section if you have your own tips! It'd be swell to share and have us all learn from them too!

    brewing tools mentioned in the video and extra accessories:
    ⭐️ Noon East Espresso Machine - JandAonline
    ⭐️ Bottomless Portafilter, Baskets and 2-in-1 Tamper and Distribution Tool all in 51mm
    - shopee.ph/neouza_go.ph
    ⭐️ Stainless Steel Pitcher - shopee.ph/spring2.ph
    ⭐️ Timemore C2 grinder - shopee.ph/timemoreph
    Not mentioned in the video but I would highly recommend you replace the C2's original stainless steel burr with their Titanium Coated Burr if you're using it for espresso on a daily.
    ========================================
    Edit: I've been getting a lot of questions about the bottomless / naked portafilter.
    Here's the exact item name and link to the portafilter. It comes with a free 16g-18g basket:
    NEOUZA 51mm Bottomless Portafilter for Donlim,KCB,Petrus,KONKA,Gevi,Noon East Coffee Machines etc.
    shopee.ph/NEOUZA-51mm-Bottoml...
    ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ Make sure it's not the Delonghi version and always ask the seller to confirm if you can use it for the Noon East.
    TAKE NOTE: You will need an ESPRESSO capable grinder to be able to use a bottomless portafilter. Use a burr grinder. Avoid blade grinders. If you’re on a budget, i suggest you start with hand grinders. Most of them are even more capable than electric ones without having to rob a bank. 😆 Best to ask seller first before purchasing.
    I'll be posting another video soon on maintenance. Stick around for that! Really appreciate all of your kind words. Didn't think my video would reach alota u! Thank you so much!

I had mine since July 2021 but I still can't froth milk properly 😥 I only saw your it recently, so thanks to your video, I have a better grasp on what I should follow to achieve silky milk for latte art. I would appreciate it if you can do a more close-up video tutorial for frothing milk using the noon east machine and what is the difference if the pannarello wand is used 😊 More power to you and kudos to your content, hope you get more subscribers, you deserve it because of your quality videos (including detailed description, timestamps/chapters, and hands-on comments)

    What a fantastic vid! 👌🏻 Sadly, I got the 1.5l version this morning and after just six cups have already filed a return. It switched off automatically for the first two times and the coffee was fab (Blue mountain beans) but from then on it would not stop and produced 160-170 ml of coffee-water. Tried it more times with just water to stop wasting coffee with same result. I'm so so disappointed & angry too. Be better #noon

    I love this video. I’ve been having problems with my noon east machine. No crema at all 🥺

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety +2

      Oh no! Are you using the portafilter that came with the machine? It's hard not to achieve any "faux crema" or foam with a pressurized basket.
      Take note lang po that crema is a sign of the freshness of your beans. When I say fresh, I mean coffee beans that are freshly roasted. The fresher, the more the crema. This is bec espresso machines tend to use pressure to bring out the gases trapped w/n the beans during roasting which forms crema. Store-bought beans are sometimes waaay passed its roasting date but sometimes ma chamba din. 😆
      Thing is, crema does not affect taste. If anything, it's more bitter. That's why you have to mix it in before tasting it. So don't fret! At the end of the day, if it still tastes good, it's all that matters. But if you really wanted to, try using a new bag of beans and please please please seal the bag properly or use an airtight container. It helps to keep coffee fresh and gases in.
      Hope this helps! ❤️

      @@VixenYoung yes i’m using it. But i read your replies here and immediately bought the one in the vid lol. I think my water pressure is too low. I used to achieve a little crema before. Now it’s none talaga so sad

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety +2

      @@CheidMangueraDoesMakeup Ahhh ok. Now that's a different story. Hahaha
      It's true. This machine really doesn't have enough pressure in the pump. That's why izzz cheap and uses the pressurized basket. To counter that, I would use ample amount of beans... 16-18g in a double shot basket should do the trick and tamp hard so it helps bring up the pressure. Also, do you have a grinder? Bec pressurized baskets need really really finely ground beans. I also have another hack I use so that I can trick the machine into adding more pressure. I might show it on another video. Finally, the machine might need descaling.

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety

      @@aurasevilla2476 May I ask what grinder you’re using? Is it espresso-capable?
      The age of the coffee (i’m talking about from its roast date) should be taken into consideration. The fresher the coffee, the more the crema. As your coffee ages, you’ll need to dial-in your coffee beans finer every morning. Try to watch “how to dial-in beans for espresso” videos on youtube. They’ll have an in-depth explanation on how to get good extraction with crema for your coffee.

    Hey! How much espresso shots can we get in a single brew? Like do I have to use new ground coffee after one shot?

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety

      With the stock portafilter, it’s usually a single shot. Make sure to weigh your output too so you get a decent pull and consistency. 1:2-2.5 is a good starting point
      And yes, always new grounds after every shot. :)

      With regards to steaming... i've never really timed it. So I checked back on the video since I did it in real-time (cguro a few seconds video cut). I'm guessing about 45sec to a minute or so? Might also depend on how cold your milk is.
      I also noticed that steam is actually still building up when the steam light turns on so I start steaming AFTER 15secs. And weirdly, it's strongest when the steam light turns off! Perfect time to create a vortex once you're done injecting air. 😅 Hope i'm making sense hahahah Sooo, tantsa2x nlng when it comes to technique. 😆

    Is it not possible to get crema on the espresso without the non pressurised portafilter? I ordered mine still didnt recieve it yet. But I watching tutorials beforehand to be able to use it and yours was the best one so far And my biggest worry is not getting a good shot of espresso cuz then the whole coffee tastes bad. Btw are you a barista?

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey there! I’m actually not a professional barista at all. i’m a visual designer who just happens to also love home brewing and have the tendency to nerd out on things honestly 😆😆😆 but to answer your question…
      There are plenty of variables in creating a good shot of espresso. Entry-level espresso machines like this are ideally targeted for home brewing beginners who might not have a grinder at home nor keen enough to go through all the aspects in creating the cafe-style espresso. That’s why, most often than not, they come with pressurized baskets. it’s more forgiving with grind size making it easy to use pre-ground grocery coffee. Depending on the freshness of ur beans, it is able to create faux foamy crema bec of the added pressure from the basket.
      Here’s the thing tho…. Espresso (or coffee in general) is all about the TASTE. Crema is only an indication of how fresh your coffee is. But technically, the crema itself does not impact the taste of the espresso. While it can seem that a good crema is the definition of a perfect cup of espresso, it is not as critical as some make it out to be. in reality, it is absolutely possible to have a great tasting cup of espresso without the perfect crema.
      If you enjoy your cup, that's really all that matters. Don't get the crema blues or think that you somehow failed at your attempts to pull a good shot. Remember, the beans, roast, and technique play a big role and one or all of those may not sway things in your favor.
      Hope this helps!

      @@VixenYoung yeah you did successfully nerd out about espresso to the point I assumed you're a professional barista😂. Thank you for the advise, for the longest time I believed perfect espresso means perfect crema even tho I never made espresso by my own hands before, I used to judge it based on cafe espressos. But now I learned the truth. Can you tell me which type of roast beans make the best espresso? Also if you could mention some coffee bean brands for it that's found in the middle east it would be great. Thank you😊

    • @VixenYoung
      @VixenYoung  Před 2 lety

      It actually does cool down a bit as I would froth my milk. But I don’t really mind it that much.
      Otherwise, I would suggest to froth the milk first and then extract the espresso.

      Awww thanks, Ayesha!
      Fine espresso grind is the way to go po 😃 But if you’re using the portafilter that comes with the machine, it’s more forgiving with the grind size since it uses a pressurized basket. I’ve tried experimenting with medium to coarse grind coffee (i used really strong dark beans BTW), and they’ve extracted well enough. Hope this helps!
