imagine training a hundred rats to grab things and put it in baskets, and use that to clean op streets and buildings.
You might be onto something...
I can't remember which city it is, but someplace wanted to put up stations where crows could put cigarette butts and get food
Scratching the surface of what could be the possibilities of human-animal cooperation. I feel like if the proper research and interest were put to something like this maybe at some point we could start making progress and build functional relationships with some groups of animals so that we help each other out. I dont think many people care though
APOPO is a non-profit organization in Africa that trains rats to detect both landmines and tuberculosis. (you can sponsor one, btw)
So, yeah, training rats to clean up litter is possible.
@@carlyhamilton7167 thanks for the info, will look that up
I got my rats a few days ago and have discovered my rat Frost REALLY likes being tickled/wrestled with. I chase her with my hand and tickle her and she gets so excited she starts bouncing around and chattering like crazy while also trying to get her sister Piper to join in who is just not having it by the sound of her squeaks xD
thats adorable!
I hand wrestle with my two boys, they go off under there cage and then come back and get on top of me only seconds later
How are they doing now?
Wow, I knew rats were smart but I can't believe how smart and well trained they are. Amazing đ
I know
Ikr â€
Just remember whenever they're out of their cage always keep an eye on what they're hiding and their mouths I swear it's their personal mission to steal everything
I can see this channel becoming one of the top rat CZcams channels sometime in the future. Keep it up, these videos are edited very well and the audio is perfectly clear!
Thanks, thats so sweet! I'm glad the audio sounds okay, its all iPad recorded so it tends to pick up any outside noises as well :P
@@ShadowTheRat I love that every video just gets straight to the point,;no need to skip the first minute, the entire content is valuable and informative and we get to see it all in action instead of watching someone talk about it.
well... đł
I wish... such a good channel
Through love, that's where we gain our worth; even a rat. What a heartwarming video.
I love when they play wrestle! Itâs one of my favorite parts of when they are young
Same! I miss it with the older girls (except for Berry :P), nothings funnier than tickling the rat and seeing them dash off, only to come back seconds later!
I miss it too! Once I had a female rat who would play wrestle well into her 2nd year. Very surprising for being a girl and older as well as she was so sweet and docile in nature.
Thank you for posting this! Iâm a new rat owner and playtime consisted of my two ratties just running around, and Iâd cut some holes in some cardboard boxes so they could explore those, but I could tell theyâre getting bored. Iâll do some of these! :)
I have a year old rat (Nicky) that really likes hand wrestling! His father and brother arenât into wrestling with me but Nickyâs always been super outgoing and enjoys playing with people!
So cute. My girls love to play like this and it's amazing how strong and fast they are. Once they get wound up they start chasing each other.
So true, they really do love riling each other up! :P
@@ShadowTheRat Do you have any other ways to play with rats I have a 1yo rat and sheâs blind and I donât know how to play with her
Once I saw my rat sitting in the corner chewing something and I sorta freaked out bc I didnât know what it was and then
I realized
IT WAS A fLy lol
Hehe, that reminds me of the time I thought I lost Latte in the play pen! I could swear i had just seen her running around, but she wouldn't answer my calls. Then I saw a shadow inside their pink igloo, and low and behold Latte was inside! I pulled her out, and low and behold she had a half-eaten stink bug in her mouth! Gross!
Shadow The Rat i had left a tube of fake blood after haloween on the floor somewhere. one day as i had let the rats out in my bedroom i froze in fear as i returned to blood everywhere...i saw bloody footprints all over the floor. laughed with relief when i figured out the reason
Everything Animals đđđ
My 1 was in the bathroom & I saw her pull something outta a hole in the wall & start eating it lol. I checked & it was food, she probably stashed it in there for later.
I give to my rats crickets that I catch outside
Teach the rats to rob people lol
an army of rats with a Tv on their backs
She already did lol to get money from a. Purse đ
@@Bee_Wagner_ Willa in stead of Willard đ€Ł
LMAO!
Lol they will pay for themselves in at least three to four "borrowing sessions". Order now!
Then the coins in the water tub... Made me think, hey they raid fountains also and gather all the silver!
Its diabolically genius. Its like something some thieves would be doing in a Charles Dickens book. :)
They could gang up with my groundhog as the muscle and nothing could stop them!
My heart literally melted!! Theyâre so intelligent and cute!!
I'm happy one of my older rats still enjoys hand wrestling!
Thank you for the love and kindness you give to your animals
So good your rats is very very cute
I really want to get a rest, so Iâm adding a bunch of videos on care and things to do with them
i just got my first rats today. i got them from my sister who had to get rid of them because of money issues and ive never been happier and this video is going to help a lot thank you
Money issues? That is so sad, as Rats are About as affordable as a pet can be...But they are lucky to have found you.
I once wanted the 'Old English Rat' { Rattus _rattus- } as opposed to Rattus _norvegicus_ but Rattus is extremely rare in England now, in fact, they are one of the UK's rarest mammals {as opposed to _norvegicus_ } found only near historic Ports.
Bristol Zoo has an amazing 'display' of' wild' rats that live in an ''Attic''....really impressive.
I have one boy who almost starved to death a few months ago. He got really sick and within days deteriorated to be basically skin and bone. I spent weeks getting him healthy and fattening him up with nutritional meals. But because of all this he's now the most food motivated rat ever. He lunges out of his hiding spot every time I come to the cage just to check for a treat, thankfully he doesn't bite though, just puts his mouth on my hand then realises I'm not food and backs off. I've mostly stopped him from this behaviour though. He and his brother know two tricks: kisses and beg.
Kisses was to stop him biting because he needs to lick my hand when he wants a treat. And beg was originally just being taught to his brother who has a cute white belly so I could get him to stand up for a treat and then I could show people his belly. But now they both know it simply because Kiba is a glutton.. that being said watching this video made me think that I should invest more time into training Kiba. Remi isn't interested in training and every trick I teach him he does excessively even when not asked then throws a tantrum when he doesn't get a treat.
so wholesome! thank you!
Iâm guessing my rat enjoys hand wrestling, he does exactly what Latte does. Glad to know heâs enjoying it. :)
Imagine having your rat help you commit a robbery
Its just amazing how you can train your pet rats. Great video đ
This is great! Thanks!
So cute ! I want to try the string thing never thought of that
this really helped me. thank you for uploding it
omg thank you this is so cute and helpful xxx
Thank you for your cute videos! You have helped me understand my new rat friends much better
Great video, thanks
I'm getting my rats today and so I was watching videos of what to do with them there about 9 weeks old and I'm so excited
Thatâs awesome! I currently have 3 baby rats just a bit younger than that and Iâm integrating them with the older rats. Baby rats are so playful and fun, I absolutely love interacting with them đ
CongRATs on the new fluffs!
4:29 So thatâs how you train pickpockets! đ
this is so adorable! I really hope my boys wil respond to this once they have a fitting play pen, they have so much energy
I really really enjoy watching your rat's engaging with you and I love rat's so very much you have made my day enjoyable they are all so cute and extremely clever đ
I got my rats a few days ago and I'm currently watching this with one of them while she peeks out of my jumper đ she definitely likes hand wrestling but her sister is a little more reserved. Thanks for the video, it was really informative!
bro this is so cute and such good advice.
You're pets are so cute
Well Tamed, Cute Rats â„ïž
I think soft and warmđ€â€ïž
Wonderful. So very Interesting - such a lovely relationship.
That was such a nice video, you're voice is so nice and cute
Those are some adorable rat names
My rats are about 4ish months and they LOVE to play wrestle! They also popcorn all the time when they do it!
What's popcorning about.
heard about it but forgot about it
Aaron Piper it means they are happy! They jump around as if they are âpoppingâ up and down :)
@@natalieschoenn Ok thanks đ
As a kid I had a pet rat who would chase my dog around the house as a game. They both loved it!
I love rats! Their so cute!!!!!!!!!
Its always such a joy to me when I have a rat that likes hand wrestling. IDK why, but I find a lot of my girls just don't end up liking it, even as babies. It's not that they'll be aggressive, they just won't be interested at all. We have 7 rats atm though, and 4 of them all like wrestling! 3 are still very young, a few months at the oldest. But Lillian is over a year old and still really enjoys it. She loves being jostled back and forth, or gently tossed away from me when I sit down. She never really fully wrestles back like our babies currently do (they'll gently nip back or pounce on you haha). She just gets excited by it!
This was fun and educational to watch. Most people (including me) have a negative image of rats but they actually are very intelligent creatures and I can see that domestically raised rats can be quite interesting and entertaining pets.
My baby cloud will grab my finger and pull me around before running around playing "catch me!" Haha love her so much! đ
how is your baby cloud now?
I want cuddle every rat, extrem lovely!đ€â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Your rat baby grabbing the money was amazing lol that was pretty cool haha mine are so sweet, we have two so far, but I wish my baby was more cuddly haha
I just like it when your rat steals money.
One of my rats keeps wiggling his tail really fast when I hand wrestle him, is this normal? I make sure he has space to hide from me when we play, and he hops around like heâs happy and he doesnât bite me or scream, and heâs pretty young. Heâs very friendly too.
i know im like a year late, but yes its very normal. some rats wag their tails like dogs when they are happy/content
Loved the intro! ;)
I LoVe my two rats sooo much ty soo much for this this helps me alot
After my rat died (way too soon at only 3 yrs) all I do is watch these videos I miss him so much and I still put flowers on his grave
Jhanne Doe three years is a pretty good age for a rat tho! Seems like you took good care of him!
You have earned a sub from the đŹđ§đđđ» great video
Thanks :)
2:09 - MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!! *runs off with it* lol
Good job !!
My rats found feathers to be quite interesting, and played with them and chased after them. It probably helps to put a bit of some sort of treat on the toy you want them to play with. Otherwise they'll loose interest when they realize that there's no connection between the toy and food. Rats are so very food orientated.
My rats mostly liked to run around and explore the room. When they were done with that, they would sometimes come and sleep with me in my shirt. Nothing like a warm ratty lump wedged in your sleeve ^.^
Aww cookie is so cute! :3
She's a great rat :)
Rats are so cute
I hand wrestle my rat all the time and he loves it lol
Watching video about rats on you tube and tomorrow I have to wake up on 5 đ€ŠđŒââïžđI really want one nowđ
Coll. Good job :3
I love rats đ
Just got rats today and this video was very helpful :)
Glad to hear! CongRATs on your new ratties!
They are so smart
They are! :)
I'm actually getting two rat boys today, so this was nice to see.
HoneyAndVanillaTea I wish you good luck!
my ratties looooved crickets!
Haha, they go crazy for bugs like my girls! I thought things like stink bugs or house centipedes are poisonous, but the rats have proved this wrong many times (extracting a half-eated bug from Latte's mouth? Eww!)
The heck with that, my boys Hook and Sora are about 9 months old and I'll annoy em until they'll hand wrestle me! Lol!!! ...they're both great about it...they finally just get to the point where they're like "FINE!! I'll play!!" and then its all good, cause now they're into it and havin fun! Lil turkeys!! Lol! Sik
Blackberry and Latte look the exact same as my rats Basil and Crumble!
I have a rat named Barry! But he is a boy. Thanks for your rat training techniques, they are so helpful.
One of my rats loves to hand wrestles and the other one doesnât but she does like training. They also love tunneling in blankets and climbing. So I canât wait till I have an actual playpen for them (they escape everything I try) but for now they play on my bed.
I used to play chase and tug o war with my girls, they loved it
Aww! I love playing with them, always fun to see that crazy energy!
Used? What happened?
Waverley's World died of old age, one was 6 and one was 7
Thank you for video, it's so usefull!! I made russian subs for people who don't very good in english, because there is no russian video with so quality about rats/ Please open acces to them!
Meanwhile my rats being like đïžđđïž to everything here.
I love your videosâ€â€â€â€â€â€đđđđ
Cookie looks like the exact same as my rat faye!
Awe :)
@Shadow The Rat, Is there anything holding up the cardboard you've set up for their free-range area? I mean on the outside.
I had a mini-chihuahua just slightly bigger than your rats and the way you played with them here 0:21-0:39 is exactly how I played with her! She was a biter đ„°
Thanks Iâm wanting to get a pet rat and needed to know how to play with one
I know that I'm late but I LOVE the name Blackberry. Right now I have 3 girls named Gooseberry, Cranberry, and Blueberry. Thanks for the tips in your video.
I love food names - there's just something so cute about them that I feel fits most rats really well!
You are lucky. I love the way you take care of them. If you have the time, can you read my rat story? Well... I got them on december 2016, two females. They were 3 months when i took my rats at a pet shop. I don't wanted to buy them, i prefer rats breeding. but after a long time of giving all my free time with them they were still afraid of me... Today, it's not the same, but they don't accept hugs, don't want to play even with balls, my hands, tissue, etc... I'm really disappointed. All i can do with my rats it's to take them out of the cage and after i put them on my bed, but they really quick go down on the floor to hide in my tiny sofa. Moreover, my mother never want me i take them out of the cage because for her: rats are dirtyyyyy!!!!! (but no problems when the dog or cat go in my bedroom after an outside walk). Anw, every night i let them walk in my bedroom (secretely), i love them soooo much, even if i can't see if they love me back^^An other problem, i became allergic. Since august 2017 my nose is completely stuff. i got asthma every night, i sneeze 3 times a minutes, my eyes are burning and my skin itches when they walk after a quick time on my arms or my neck. I'm not giving them to adoption, wich is a current way when you are allergic to your rats... And i will take care of them, conceving boxes, games, little pillow for their little house etc, in spite of my health....
)
That doesn't sound 5hay they are happy take them to th3 gets
this helped me alot i watched all the vids my rats did turn out to love hand wrestling lol
My rats are the exact same color!!!!!they have different spot patterns but they are so similar
A dog biscuit on a string works well. So too, gently tossing them on the bed. Mine would go mad with this and keep running back for more! Fluffing them with a soft floppy brush like a duster brush drives them mad too. Another one - an old towel or similar tied up to hang just touching the floor - young ones especially like to pounce on each other underneath. Remote controlled mice/rats are good and other cat toys too. There's no end to the fun you can have with them!
Wow, didnât know rats could have dog treats.
My rat doesnât play, she refuses. She only wants to get up in my head and chew my hair
I liked this and will still try to play with my rats ages are 8months and 5months
Go for it! I really recommend the string/cork thing - just about all my rats go crazy for it and they love chasing it around like little kittens!
Thankyou very much for all the great ideas. My little rat Bell is my best friend and more ideas to engage with her are great. I have only taught her one simple trick as of yet but she loves it and I don't see how a lot of people don't understand how smart rats are. Kane my even smaller baby is too small yet I think to do anything but race around like a lunatic as he is only 4 weeks and an accidental baby of my sisters pet rat Cherry, but I wonder if he would like lightly handwrestling? Also my sisters double rex baby Freya loves chasing things around the floor. Also I tried to copy your rat safe pen with the box walls as it is great. Thanks so much. Your videos are inspirational. Also have you ever had patchwork or hairless Rex's and if so do you know if they are especially person loving as our two are even compared to our other fully furred rats?
My rats also love to hand wrestle and chase zip ties
I have an adult rat and 2 babies. My other adult rat passed away so I got the babies to keep him company. Being with the babies changed him, he's like a new rat. He was already grown when I got him and although he was friendly he didn't like being handled out of his cage and wasn't interested in play. Now he wants to play with me and his baby brothers. I was looking for ideas. Thank you!
Insane. Imagine you forgetting a tip for the pizza guy and you tell your rat to catch you a few dollars.....Iâm......
Wow your girls are SMART my rat literally does nothing but chew my things she doesnât know anything đ
Kenai still hasnt outgrown hand wrestling, he loves it to bits and he's about 10 months now
I had only one rat that ever hand-wresled with me. It was really funny and cute but happens rarely. I think it was cause he was my (first) rat and i was his only company for the beginning of his life. He would somethimes even charge my hand and (play) attack it. Out of about 25 rats that i had he was the only one that did that.
I don't own a rat, but I own a cat. It looks like interacting with a rat is like interacting with a cat.
Hi, thanks for your videos, they are great. I would like to know what you give them as a treat to train them. I see you like it a lot
For training treats I typically use plain yogurt, cheerios and gerber puffs broken into bits, and occasionally meat baby food!
rats are cool and cute ;) i love rats XD
Excellent!
Thanks :)
I am adding these to my list of reasons why my mum should let me get rats and why they are such great pets.
Have you succeeded? The only downside is, their lifespan! đą
@@angelajones9958 Not yet!
LOL when rats try to take your finger and you pull away they look\feel offendedđ
iâve had rats for just under three months and one of my rats (siouxsie) is a lot more aggressive towards humans than the other two. sheâs friendly and loving towards terri and pip but has bitten the tips of my fingers multiple times. iâd really appreciate any advice on how to handle her and play with her etc without her seeing it as a threat and becoming defensive
