People who use elderly and kids and others as their message are disgusting.. Any trick up their slave huh.. This has nothing to do with being Hawaiian.. Culture.. Or whatever they say and everything to do with money.. These people are suing them.. Robert freitas is sueing because the county made him uphold county code for the market downtown Hilo.. Sorry but you people have no idea what you are talking about . its easy to pull the race card when the world is full of ignorant fools.. Look at these people here.. Nothing cultural here.. Know the truth so you can understand the fight..Does anyone know why or what the real issues are that the Hawaiians have with construction Of the telescope on Mona Kea. Besides it’s sacred burial sites...It’s because under that mountain there is the Hugest water duct on the island. sooo huge it could provide ice cold fresh water to the whole island for hundreds of years maybe even more!! And in order for the telescopes to run they need to be cooled because of the nuclear power it runs on so they are gonna need to drill down to the water duct to send the nuclear waste into the water to cool it off then send it back up to power the telescope to keep it running. So there you have it that’s why We are fighting to protect mauna kea ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 Educate yourself befor some of y’all point your finger and call the natives the bad guys cause really we ain’t...

Give Hawaiian lands to Hawaiian hands simple cousin

    • @guam58
      @guam58 Před 4 lety

If you give Hawaiian lands to Hawaiian hands then what. How are the lands dispersed? Who gets the land? 100% Hawaiian blood or any percentage of Hawaiian blood? What then Hawaii become a sovereign nation? If they become a sovereign nation does that mean federal funds stop coming into Hawaii. You cannot be sovereign and get US government funding unless you identify as Native American. If that occurs then you can't consider Hawaii sovereign. It is a complex system and you will have many people coming out of the wood works to claim lands. Greed of Hawaiians will come through as Hawaiians are human.

In the end, all land is sacred.
Although the active protecting of Mauna Kea and its sacredness of the physical mountain is real, it is but one such example of what is at stake to both natural resources and the indigenous peoples of those lands. This is also about so much more than physical land and the TMT (thirty meter telescope).
This is the result of 125(+) years of trauma experienced at the hands of corporate and government agents cooperating to disenfranchise the indigenous people of their birthright as kanaka maoli.
The right to rule themselves, Sovereignty.
TMT has become the catalyst for the present day kanaka to rise as a lahui and
Stand firmly in their resolve for these generational injustices and finally have them recognized and addressed.

People that don’t understand the deeper meaning in this just sound ignorant. Also this is on the big island so why is the lady in the comments talking about Waianae? That’s on another island which just goes to show how much you know on the situation. The west side only started to become dirty thanks to the “amazing” tourists that come to Hawai’i and just leave trash around like it’s the mainland. True not all Hawaiians care but most of us do. Not every one of us wants to be a sovereign nation, that hope will always be nothing but a distant dream in our people’s eyes. But what we want to do is try to preserve what little of our culture that we have left for our future generations. Every place has a landmark so why is it hard to understand what these women and every other person are up there fighting for.

    Deuteronomy Chapter 8 verse 3
    From the Old Testament
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord”
    Also in the New Testament
From the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 4 Verse 4
This is when Satan tempted Jesus
The tempter came to HIM, and said, “if You are the Son of God, command these stones become bread.
    But HE answered and said,
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord”

Sacredness does not reside in places or objects.
Sacredness has only ever resided in the possibility of a quantum leap in the functioning of the nervous and limbic systems of man.
This is reflected in such phrases as "The enlightened see the Buddha in a piece of dung."
Human progress and the scientific advancement of humanity has been the hostage of ignorance and superstition for far too long.
I am sure that many of the protestors feel to the depths of their hearts that there is something sacred about this mountain in particular. This is a delusion. If they were really concerned with the "sacred" they would only be concerned with the possibility of bringing about the evolution of their own conscious awareness.
This confrontation has nothing to do with the sacred. It is really just a pissing contest. The difference between this and most other protests is that this is based on lies and delusions, no matter how traditional the lies have become.
The sooner humanity rids itself of all the flying spaghetti monsters, the better. If you cannot feel the sacred equally whereever you are, you are just an unenlightened imbecile who has never really pursued the matter to any significant depth.

We are protecting a PLACE of worship just how Jesus did in Mathew 21. If mountains weren’t sacred why would mount tabor, hermon, sinai, nebo, carmel, and mt. Ararat where Noah’s ark landed and that’s where Noah saw the rainbow symbolizing Gods promise, nē in the Bible. They bridge the gap between God and kanaka and help give clarity and direction for us kanaka. He gives us a “mountain top” experience so we can come back down and be refreshed, encouraged and inspired to keep doing his will.
