CLIP DESCRIPTION:
With his preternatural sense of hearing, Zatoichi (Takeshi Kitano) listens to the sound of the dice and realizes that they have been switched. Immediately sensing an ambush, Zatoichi strikes first, slaughtering all of the would-be assailants.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Beat Takeshi Kitano directs and plays the title role in this tribute to the wildly popular "blind swordsman" of Japanese cinema who was the hero of more than 20 movies and a television series from the early '60s to the late '80s. In Kitano's version, Zatôichi wanders into a town harassed by criminal gangs, and helps two geishas take revenge on the men who murdered their parents. His mission leads him to a final, bloody confrontation with the gang's mastermind and his hired assassin (Tadanobu Asano), a swordsman with a reputation as lethal as Zatôichi.

Simple. They didn't ruin their knees and backs by sitting in chairs all their lives. People sit in squats pretty naturally if they grow up doing it. The bend of your bones and the blood vessels map themselves slightly differently to accommodate a life spent in a squat.

Your right. The most bad ass blind man in any dynasty. Don’t scream, he can sense your fear. Don’t bother try to hide from him. He can hear your breath and heartbeat. And don’t draw your sword. If you do, he would end your life so quick that you don’t know that your dead till he sheathed his sword. Only way u can survive is stay still and don’t attack him, or slowly sneak for the exit. Otherwise l, your just walking bloody meat bags just asking to be butchered by this veteran warrior. Then you have to live with the fact that you got your ass kicked by a. 75 year old blind man who apparently is as fast as lightning lol

This is not Zatoichi.. this is a guy who is paying tribute to the Actor and the character. Sure he's supposed to be portraying Zatoichi, but it's still not Zatoichi. That's why you hear Ichi all the time and not Zatoichi cuz they know that diehard OG fans would be unhappy if they flat out tried to replace him. The original actor who played Zatoichi for decades retired and moved on to a better place which is why this dude directed and starred in this tribute film, because you couldn't get an actor who didn't exist anymore to play his role...

Out of context this seems like Ichi is the bad guy. But the long history of Zatoichi movies have lots of scenes in crooked gambling houses where they try to take advantage of the blind masseur.

Not bad but will never compare to Shintaro's Zatoichi, it has more troll-like personality in it and the swordsmaship is pretty outstanding (never slowed down).
Kitano already said that this movie is actually a different and more modern take of the Zatoichi movies anyway.

Can someone explain this to me? The comments I'm reading are very clear that they feel the blind guy was in the right for killing all of them, but all that happened was one guy was cheating at a dice game.

In Japanese 按摩 (anma) is used to refer to a masseur. It's also a crude (and not very nice) way to refer to someone who is blind, as blind people often used to work as masseurs. So when the Japanese in this movie say the word "anma", the literal translation is masseur, as it appears in the English subtitles. However, they're referring to the blind swordsman Ichi, so I wouldn't say the translation is correct. Something along the lines of "the blind swordsman" might have been a more apt translation.
