    I bought one of these about December, and it’d now April. I left the box outside (I live 8b) and noticed vines coming out of the box. This dude has vines 5’ tall. It was a large (like… 10” around) plant.

    This is one of my favorite plants. I keep mine in an Ikea cabinet and it sits right under the growlight lol it's grown really bushy & compact. With all light it's getting the leaves have developed a red rim along the edges! Definitely recommend playing with amount of light exposure to see how it affects the growth 😊

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Před 2 lety

      Yours sounds ideal! How long are your grow lights on each day? I'm tempted to put mine on for longer tbh...

    • @pchan8687
      @pchan8687 Před 2 lety

      @@GoodGrowing I have the lights on for 14 hrs each day. I know growlights can be different intensities so maybe try gradually increasing the exposure to avoid shocking & burning leaves? Please share updates on how it goes 😊

    Another great video 🎉
    Love caudex plants 😍 I keep my Phyllanthus Mirabilis in pon and it really, really loves it! ☺️ I don’t know if it is the same for the Stephania, but mine didn’t really mind lower(40-50%) humidity. It has given me crazy good growth ☺️

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! So I've since moved mine to a brighter spot but with less humidity (40-50%) and it's actually growing so much more compact now, so I guess they don't mind that much 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hello! your care video is very good but I would urge you to inform your self about the source of this plant. Because this plant is pretty much always poched fom the wild in Thailand. I do not blame you because this is not so common knowledge, but it would be really cool if you informed others about this!

    I have two year old caudex. It'll grow 3 inch stem and it never leaves and dies. It's in a small terracotta pot.

  • @Draculiana
    @Draculiana Před 2 lety

    My caudex took about 2 months to sprout, i think i was overly carefull and under wattered it. 2 or 3 weeks ago i started watering it a bit more often and this week she finally started to grow.
    I also bought a full plant with multiple stems and she is doing great, i had a few baby leaves yellow after i repotted it in my own chunky mix but soon after she bounced back. The big Stephania is sitting in household humidity (35 to 50%) and it seems ok. I am a bit sad that she will loose the leaves , they are so adorable!

      yeah patience really is key with these, and keeping them oddly moist but not too wet 🙃 yay balances! I'm always so tempted when I see beautiful branchy bushy ones but I have to remind myself that they will die back in autumn 😬

    Hello! I was wondering if you might know how to make the caudex more plump and healthy? I had my stephania for 3-4 years now, and it has two sunken areas presumably from some sort of internal rot (?) so I guess that part can't be fixed... but while the caudex is really ugly and small it sprouts more abundant stems/leaves each year. Unfortunately, two years in a row the stems broke just before leafing - this year the stem was 20% attached and somehow survived, though the leaves stay teeny tiny and die early. I was wondering if photosynthesis from the leaves are the main thing that makes the caudex healthy, and if my caudex is so shrunken and sad because it didn't get that properly for the last 2 years?
