Please forgive my many posts on this thread. I write because your excellent ensemble excite me. I was a Navy Musician, P.O. Second Class, lead trumpet player. I studied at the Armed Forces School of Music (the former Navy School of Music) at the Little Creek Amphibious Base, VA (Norfolk). My incredible music theory instructor was an Army Specialist. Many of those teaching were Army Specialists. There were a few U.S. Marines at the school too. If I was a Navy Musician and would have rather played in your magnificent Old Guard ensemble, what would have been the proper transition procedure?

I would love to hear you all play this on natural trumpets without the tone holes! I am sure you could do it!

Excellently played - trumpet music from the Eighteenth Century can only be played properly on historical instruments. It seems strange, though, that the U.S. Army ensemble should be wearing the uniforms of their enemies, the Redcoats. Of course, to be consistent with this music, which was composed for Dresden, they should be wearing green Saxon uniforms.

Old Guard wears the uniforms of musicians in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Musicians wore reverse colors to distinguish themselves from normal soldiers.

Or Austrian uniforms as the composer was a Czech from Bohemia (the biggest kingdom in Austrian empire)

Musicians wear reverse colors from the army, red coats with blue piping, the opposite of what the continental army wore, blue uniforms with red piping

The Saxon army wore red uniforms during the time of the Saxon King August the Strong

In my opinion they look very similiar to British uniforms.

Loose the holes and then you can match those uniforms.
